    Kinesthetic Learning

    No full text
The purpose of this presentation is to explore how kinesthetic learning helps children with learning disabilities. To make it simple, this study attempts to see how well students do when they learn by moving around. Numerous studies have shown that kinesthetic learning is something that can be very helpful, especially for students who may have learning disabilities. Students with learning disabilities are found to respond well to this learning strategy

    No full text
Creation of a two-fold course for students in grades 3-5 which provide instruction on self defense and deliberative debate. Course curriculum provides fundamental instruction on self defense and self control along with de-escalation focus. Course will additionally provide instruction on communication foundations for respectful discussion and debate principals for purposeful dialogue and understandin

Decreasing Abuse in Long-term Care Through Education

    No full text
Many nursing home patients struggle with getting abused. The abuse is caused by both understaffing in the facility and the employees’ lack of education about aggressive residents. When a facility is running low on staff and residents need help and are possibly getting angry, the workers get stressed and take their stress out on them. To decrease this abuse, these issues need to be addressed effectively. By implementing a three-month program for nursing homes to require, new employees will become educated on properly handling difficult residents as well as gain a better understanding of expectations when working in nursing homes. If nursing homes offered this three-month program, patients in nursing homes would receive better care and staffing would improve

Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing: Family Presence During CPR and Procedures

    No full text
Family-centered patient care has become a practice standard in acute care clinical settings. However, presence of family in the room when a patient is undergoing complicated life-saving measures such as a complex procedure or cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is controversial. This poster will discuss the scholarly work comparing current practice with best-practice recommendations regarding the presence of family during CPR or other complicated procedures

Microwave–Assisted Synthesis of Polybenzimidazoles for Use as Analytical Sensors

    No full text
Benzimidazoles are a diverse group of nitrogen containing heterocycles that are found in many naturally–occurring biomolecules, pharmaceuticals, and synthetic products. Common benzimidazole syntheses often involve the condensation of carbonyl containing compounds with o–phenylenediamine, however, most of the published synthetic methods require high temperature refluxes and long reaction times. The goal of this research was to show how microwave reactor technology could be utilized to produce polybenzimidazoles from polyaminopolycarboxylates and various diamines more efficiently. This presentation will show how reaction times were reduced from the typical 24–hour reflux to less than 1–hour using a CEM Microwave Reactor. In this research a variety of new polybenzamidazoles were synthesized and characterized including the UV–Vis and fluorescence spectroscopic properties

    Oral Reading

    No full text
This presentation is about oral reading strategies and their affect on readers\u27 development, reading fluency, and comprehension. It is based on capstone research that took place in a third grade classroom with students at varying levels of ability. Different reading strategies that will be discussed include reader\u27s theater, partner reading, and simple readings. Reading areas/skills that were measured or observed include comprehension, retelling, decoding, attitude, and the ability to answer story specific questions. The inspiration for this study stemmed from the third grade reading guarantee test--a timed test that occurs throughout the school year and determines whether students can move on to fourth grade

Effectiveness of Teachers Using I-Pads to Improve Student’s Reading Comprehension in Saudi Arabia

    No full text
Over the past few years, various technological devices have been introduced in the classroom across the globe. The use of iPads in the classrooms has increased. The government of Saudi Arabia in an attempt to enhance the learning process has introduced iPads to various categories of students. This study will assess the effectiveness of using iPads in classrooms in Saudi Arabia. The study will evaluate the effectiveness of using iPads and literacy. The study will have a total of 397 male students from Taif region of Saudi Arabia. The study will be conducted using the exploratory case study research design. The study will have a control group which will not be given iPads and an experimental group that will be given iPads. In order to assess performance, the study will give the students a pre-test and post-study test
