Field Work Investigation Research on the Seismic Damage Prediction of Building Structures XVI - Investigation for Yatomi city -
There has been no end to earthquakes and other natural disasters in Japan. There is a high probability of the occurrence of large-scale earthquakes in the near future, including impending possibilities of a Nankai Trough Earthquake and Chubu and Kinki Region Inland Earthquakes. This study describes a fieldwork investigation into predicting seismic damage to buildings in Yatomi city, Aichi Prefecture. The results of this research were analyzed in the same manner as described in the last report. Six earthquake estimations Tokai, Tonankai, Nobi, Gifu-Ichinomiya, Sanage and Adera were carried out and the damage prediction figures are shown. In the present paper, we also examine the seismic damage of the great earthquake that exceeded magnitude 8.7
A Case of the Reincarnation Type Involving Memories of Committing Suicide
This article reports a case of the reincarnation type (CORT) occurring in contemporary Japan. It contains major features of CORT as reported in the literature, such as statements, behaviors, emotions, preferences, and skills related to the past-life personality. One notable feature of the present case is that the subject has memories of committing suicide in his past-life and of what happened after his death, that is, life-betweenlife memories: He entered the <reflection room,< a dark room for the dead who regrets what he or she has done while alive. Another interesting feature is that the subject has three close friends who share with him the similar (or same) life-between-life memories: they had been together in the life-between-life state and had promised one another to be together when they were born. Furthermore, the two of the three children also had memories of entering the <reflection room< after they died and the description of the room they gave is virtually the same. Because of these features, the author believes that the present case will provide an invaluable piece of information about what could happen after one commits suicide
Teacher Education at School of Contemporary Education: Developing Mathematics Teachers with Deep Logical Thinking Skills
How Teachers Teach “Reading< and “Writing< and Assess Children in English Classes at Elementary Schools in Japan
There has been a significant change in the field of English education in Japan recently. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) has stated that English will be taught as an academic subject from Grade 5 as “Foreign Languages< and as “Foreign Language Activities< from Grade 3 in elementary schools in 2020. According to the Courses of Study for “Foreign Language Activities<, teachers should focus on the foreign language sounds and use letters of the alphabet and words as supplementary tools for oral communication. In “Foreign Languages<, teachers can and should also teach “Reading< and “Writing< and assess children. The purpose of this paper is to consider the ways of teaching “Reading< and “Writing< and assessing children in Japanese elementary school English education. Roman letters have been taught at Grade 3 in “Japanese Language<, but some traditional and current ways of teaching roman letters can be problematic. To improve children\u27s skills of “Reading< and “Writing<, they should be taught in parallel because they cannot be separated from each other and it is also essential to teach “Phonological Awareness< to children. With regard to assessment of “Reading< and “Writing<, there are some assessment methods which are introduced. A new rubric is necessary to assess children properly
