    Inventory of Mark K. Craig Papers Shuttle Solid Rocket Booster (SRB) Separation (SEP) System

    The collection originally arrived in five boxes. These boxes had numbers on the side and on the top flap indicating that there should have been ten boxes altogether (ex., 3/10, 6/10). Whether the other five boxes were lost or are in storage could not be determined; as such, according to the numbering on the boxes, only the contents of boxes 1-3 and 5-6 are contained in this subseries. Mr. Craig's papers were very well-organized, related materials having been placed in labeled folders and subject sections marked by labeled green subdividers. The order of the received boxes was maintained, as were the folder titles and their contents. If the folders contained a number of different media (photos, schematics, reports, etc.), this is indicated in parentheses. The dates given indicate the range of the material in the folder. Certain subject areas, marked by green subdividers, will be indicated in the inventory with the number of folders involved. The resulting arrangement is: 1) SRB Separation material, 2) subject areas related to SRB Sep system and plume impingement, 3) BSM materials and post-mission evaluation reports for STS 1-6, and 4) plume impingement tests. Mr. Craig was well-organized as much with the contents of the folders as with the folders themselves. Large reports are often labeled with black marker on their spines for easy access and are divided with yellow stickies or tabbed inserts to mark important sections. Many of the folders contain numerous handwritten notes, all easy to read and extensive in their content. The many schematics and charts, often done by hand also, are clear and clean and sometimes incorporate more than three colors in their construction. He compiled the documents as part of his research on the Spacelab program.     The Robert M. Kelso Papers is composed of flight manuals, handbooks, checklists, press kits, memorandums, telephone directories, and miscellaneous materials, used and kept by Robert M. Kelso while he worked as flight controller and later lead flight director in Flight Operations in Mission Control Center at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. The bulk of the materials are handbooks, flight manuals, and console binders used by Kelso during the first three Space Shuttle Orbiter missions STS-1, STS-2, and STS-3, while working as a flight controller for the Shuttle between 1981 and 1982. There are also operational manuals, binders, and other records from the Space Shuttle missions STS-5, STS-8, STS-12, and STS-13. One of the more unique items in the collection is Kelso’s original National Space Transportation System reference press kit binder from 1988, providing information shared with the public regarding the Space Shuttle STS program

    1-2-3! Catch-up for HPV: A Theoretically Informed Psychosocial Intervention to Increase HPV Vaccine Uptake Among Young Adults

    The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United States causing a range of sequelae from genital warts to cancer. In the past 10 years, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) licensed three vaccines that target the most common and severe strains of HPV. Current guidelines recommend the HPV vaccine be given prophylactically during adolescence; however, vaccination rates remain suboptimal. Thus, there are increased efforts to increase vaccination among the catch-up group, or individuals between 18 and 26 years of age, due to increased autonomy in healthcare decisions. Previous research has utilized the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to understand factors that impact HPV vaccination uptake. The TPB posits that attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control contribute to one’s intent and subsequent engagement in a behavior. Recently, an affective component, anticipatory regret, was added to the model to increase utility. Despite research suggesting the TPB variables are directly related to vaccine uptake, interventions have primarily focused on education only with minimal success. Thus, the current study aimed to enhance an education-based intervention to directly target the TPB variables for increased HPV vaccination among the catch-up group. The study was a randomized control design that compared a TPB-informed psychosocial intervention with both an education-only intervention and a no intervention control group. Results indicated that TPB variables explained 45.6% of the variance in intent to vaccinate, while increased knowledge about HPV/HPV vaccine contributed only 3.5%. Factors unique to the psychosocial intervention (attitudes, subjective norms, and anticipatory regret) were significant predictors of intent to vaccinate. The intervention model also effectively differentiated between those who did and did not endorse vaccination uptake at 6 months, explaining between 42% and 67% of the variance in vaccination status. In conclusion, the current study demonstrated that the TPB-informed intervention was more effective than an education-only intervention in increasing both intent and vaccination uptake among the catch-up group. The current study provides support for dissemination of TPB-informed interventions across college campuses to increase uptake and reduce HPV-related sequelae among the catch-up group
