On the Lathrobiina of Taiwan (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Paederinae).
(Chiai Hsien: Alishan), L. involutum sp. n. (Taichung Hsien: Hsuehshan), L. anmaicum sp. n. (Taichung Hsien: Anmashan), L. utriculatum sp. n. (Kaohsiung Hsien: Peinantashan), L. extraculum sp. n. (Pingtung Hsien: Peitawushan), L. follitum sp. n. (Pingtung Hsien: Peitawushan), L. houhuanicum sp. n. (Nantou Hsien: Houhuanshan), L. nenkaoicum sp. n. (Nantou Hsien: Nenkaoshan), L. tarokoense sp. n. (Hualien Hsien: Taroko National Park), L. alesi sp. n. (Taichung Hsien: Hsuehshan), Platydomene sinuosa sp. n. (Ilan Hsien), Lobrathium (Lobrathium) nigripenne sp. n. (Chiai Hsien: Alishan), L. (L.) bilobatum sp. n. (Taiwan: weit verbreitet), L. (L.) extensum sp. n. (Taichung Hsien), L. (L.) bipeniculatum sp. n. (Ilan Hsien: Chyr Duan), L. (L.) penicillatum sp. n. (Nantou: Shanlinchi), L. (L.) pedes sp. n. (Hualien und Ilan Hsien), L. stimulans sp. n. (Kaohsiung: Peinantashan), L. sororium sp. n. (Kaohsiung: Kuanshan), L. duplehamatum sp. n. (Nantou Hsien), L. smetanai sp. n. (Kaohsiung: Peinantashan), L. furcillatum sp. n. (Pingtung Hsien: Peitawushan), L. cornutissimum sp. n. (Kaohsiung: Peinantashan), L. bisagittatum sp. n. (Ilan und Taoyuan Hsien), L. digitatum sp. n. (Chiai and Nantou Hsien: Yushan), L. bidigitatum sp. n. (Kaohsiung: Peinantashan), L. spoliatum sp. n. (Taichung Hsien: Hsuehshan), L. kuanicum sp. n. (Kaohsiung Hsien: Kuanshan) und L. coalitum sp. n. (Nantou: Nenkaoshan). StichwörterColeoptera, Staphylinidae, Paederinae, Lathrobium, Lobrathium, Platydomene, Tetartopeus, Palaearctic region, Taiwan, species groups, new species, new combinations, new records, key to species.Nomenklatorische Handlungenalesi Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.alishanum Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.anmaicum Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.extraculum Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.follitum Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.houhuanicum Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.involutum Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.nenkaoicum Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.tarokoense Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.utriculatum Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.bidigitatum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.bisagittatum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.coalitum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.cornutissimum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.digitatum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.duplehamatum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.furcillatum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.kuanicum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.smetanai Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.sororium Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.spoliatum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.taiwanense (Watanabe, 1998) (Lobrathium), comb. nov. hitherto Lathrobium taiwanense Watanabe, 1998bilobatum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium (Lobrathium)), spec. nov.bipeniculatum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium (Lobrathium)), spec. nov.extensum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium (Lobrathium)), spec. nov.nigripenne Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium (Lobrathium)), spec. nov.pedes Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium (Lobrathium)), spec. nov.penicillatum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium (Lobrathium)), spec. nov.stimulans Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium (subgenus?)), spec. nov.sinuosa Assing, 2010 (Platydomene), spec. nov.bimaculatus (Li, Tang & Zhu, 2007) (Tetartopeus), comb. nov. hitherto Lobrathium bimaculatus Li, Tang & Zhu, 2007Primarily based on material collected by Aleš Smetana, Ottawa, in the 1990s, 29 species of Lathrobiina from Taiwan are described and illustrated: Lathrobium alishanum sp. n. Two apparently monophyletic species groups are established, the Lathrobium involutum group with ten locally endemic species, all of them newly described, and the Lobrathium stimulans group including thirteen named species with more or less restricted distributions, only one of which was described previously. Several species of the L. stimulans group lack the submarginal line of the elytra, traditionally one of the key characters separating Lobrathium Mulsant & Rey, 1878 from most other lathrobiine genera, but evidently secondarily reduced in these species. A key to the Lobrathium species of Taiwan is provided. The genus Lobrathium, as well as Lobrathium sibynicum Zheng, 1988 are recorded from Taiwan for the first time. The following binomina are established: Lobrathium taiwanense (Watanabe, 1998), comb. n. (ex Lathrobium), and Tetartopeus bimaculatus (Li, Tang & Zhu, 2007), comb. n. (ex Lobrathium). Additional records - the first records sínce the original description - are reported for Lathrobium shaolaiense Watanabe, 1998.KeywordsColeoptera, Staphylinidae, Paederinae, Lathrobium, Lobrathium, Platydomene, Tetartopeus, Palaearctic region, Taiwan, species groups, new species, new combinations, new records, key to species.Nomenclatural Actsalesi Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.alishanum Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.anmaicum Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.extraculum Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.follitum Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.houhuanicum Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.involutum Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.nenkaoicum Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.tarokoense Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.utriculatum Assing, 2010 (Lathrobium (Lathrobium)), spec. nov.bidigitatum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.bisagittatum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.coalitum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.cornutissimum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.digitatum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.duplehamatum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.furcillatum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.kuanicum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.smetanai Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.sororium Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.spoliatum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium), spec. nov.taiwanense (Watanabe, 1998) (Lobrathium), comb. nov. hitherto Lathrobium taiwanense Watanabe, 1998bilobatum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium (Lobrathium)), spec. nov.bipeniculatum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium (Lobrathium)), spec. nov.extensum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium (Lobrathium)), spec. nov.nigripenne Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium (Lobrathium)), spec. nov.pedes Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium (Lobrathium)), spec. nov.penicillatum Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium (Lobrathium)), spec. nov.stimulans Assing, 2010 (Lobrathium (subgenus?)), spec. nov.sinuosa Assing, 2010 (Platydomene), spec. nov.bimaculatus (Li, Tang & Zhu, 2007) (Tetartopeus), comb. nov. hitherto Lobrathium bimaculatus Li, Tang & Zhu, 200
Cydia molybdana (Constant, 1884) – a valid species (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae: Olethreutinae).
Nomenklatorische Handlungenmolybdana (Constant, 1884) (Cydia), stat. rev. hitherto a synonym of Cydia amplana (Hübner, 1799)sammuti Diakonoff, 1986 (Cydia (Kenniola)), syn. nov. of Cydia molybdana (Constant, 1884)Because of distinct and constant differences in the male and female genitalia described in this paper, Cydia molybdana (Constant, 1884) stat. rev. is removed from the synonymy of Cydia amplana (Hübner, [1796 – 1799]). A phylogenetic framework for the North American bumblebee species of the subgenus Bombus sensu stricto (Bombus affinis, B. franklini, B. moderatus, B. occidentalis & B. terricola) based on mitochondrial DNA markers. (Hymenoptera: Apidae: Bombus).
Queens of Bombus affinis, B. moderatus, B. occidentalis and B. terricola were collected from different localities throughout North America. Mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) was sequenced from 24 specimens (Partial sequences length 1005 bp). Interspecific sequence divergence was about 30–50 base substitutions and approximately 0.05–0.13 in Tamura-Nei genetic distance, whereas the intraspecific sequence divergence was only 1–2 base substitutions and about 0.001–0.002 in Tamura-Nei genetic distance. Because there are no gaps in the alignments of the COI sequences, single nucleotide sites can be used as positional homologies. Each taxon is characterised by about 8 to 20 substitutions, which are unique (“private”) and can be used as diagnostic characters to define and identify this taxon. Three clusters in the topology of the phylogenetic tree were obtained: B. moderatus, which is con-specific to the East Asian B. albocinctus, a species pair B. affinis – B. franklini somehow related to the Eurasian B. lucorum and a species pair B. terricola – B. occidentalis without obvious connection to any Old World species
New and poorly known Epermeniidae from the Neotropical, Australasian, Oriental and Palaearctic Regions (Lepidoptera).
Nomenklatorische Handlungenboliviana Gaedike, 2010 (Epermenia (Calotripis)), spec. nov.parastolidota Gaedike, 2010 (Epermenia (Calotripis)), spec. nov.pulchokicola Gaedike, 2010 (Epermenia (Cataplectica)), spec. nov.bicuspis Gaedike, 2010 (Epermenia (Epermeniola)), spec. nov.caledonica (Gaedike, 1981) (Epermenia (Epermeniola)), comb. nov. hitherto Epermenia (Calotripis) caledonicadavisi Gaedike, 2010 (Epermenia (Epermeniola)), spec. nov.gielisi Gaedike, 2010 (Parochromolopis), spec. nov.As the result of the study of Epermeniidae collected in the Neotropical, Australasian, Oriental and Palaearctic Regions, two species (Epermenia (Calotripis) brasiliana Gaedike & Becker, 1989 and Epermenia (Cataplectica) sinica Gaedike, 1996) were newly recorded in three countries. Epermenia (Cataplectica) nepalica Gaedike, 1996 and Epermenia (Epermeniola) caledonica (Gaedike, 1981), previously only known from the types, were found a second time. The male genitalia of E. caledonica are described for the first time, and a new subgeneric placement established. The following taxa are described as new: Epermenia (Calotripis) boliviana sp. n., Epermenia (Calotripis) parastolidota sp. n., Epermenia (Epermeniola) davisi sp. n., Epermenia (Epermeniola) bicuspis sp. n., Epermenia (Cataplectica) pulchokicola sp. n., and Parochromolopis gielisi sp. n.KeywordsEpermeniidae, Neotropics, Australasia, Oriental-Region, Palearctic-Region, new records, new species, new combination.Nomenclatural Actsboliviana Gaedike, 2010 (Epermenia (Calotripis)), spec. nov.parastolidota Gaedike, 2010 (Epermenia (Calotripis)), spec. nov.pulchokicola Gaedike, 2010 (Epermenia (Cataplectica)), spec. nov.bicuspis Gaedike, 2010 (Epermenia (Epermeniola)), spec. nov.caledonica (Gaedike, 1981) (Epermenia (Epermeniola)), comb. nov. hitherto Epermenia (Calotripis) caledonicadavisi Gaedike, 2010 (Epermenia (Epermeniola)), spec. nov.gielisi Gaedike, 2010 (Parochromolopis), spec. nov
The Neotropical species of the genus Osorius Guérin-Meneville, 1829 with remarks to the Neotropical Osoriid complex (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Osoriinae).
Nomenklatorische Handlungenbiarmatus (Darlington, 1927) (Antillosorius), comb. nov. hitherto Osorius biarmatus Darlington, 1927buscki (Notman, 1925) (Antillosorius), comb. nov. hitherto Osorius buscki Notman, 1925cautis (Darlington, 1937) (Antillosorius), comb.nov. hitherto Osorius cautis Darlington, 1937crenulifrons (Notman, 1925) (Antillosorius), comb. nov. hitherto Osorius crenulifrons Notman, 1925cubensis (Blackwelder, 1943) (Antillosorius), comb. nov. hitherto Osorius cubensis Blackwelder, 1943daemon (Darlington, 1937) (Antillosorius), comb. nov. hitherto Osorius daemon Darlington, 1937darlingtoni (Blackwelder, 1943) (Antillosorius), comb.nov. hitherto Osorius darlingtoni Blackwelder, 1943fratellus (Darlington, 1937) (Antillosorius), comb. nov. hitherto Osorius fratellus Darlington, 1937hirtilabris (Bernhauer, 1915) (Antillosorius), comb. nov. hitherto Osorius hirtilabris Bernhauer, 1915hubbardi (Notman, 1925) (Antillosorius), comb. nov. hitherto Osorius hubbardi Notman, 1925manni (Notman, 1925) (Antillosorius), comb. nov. hitherto Osorius manni Notman, 1925mediocris (Darlington, 1937) (Antillosorius), comb. nov. hitherto Osorius mediocris Darlington, 1925oriente (Blackwelder, 1943) (Antillosorius), comb. nov. hitherto Osorius oriente Blackwelder, 1943regulus (Darlington, 1937) (Antillosorius), comb. nov. hitherto Osorius regulus Darlington, 1937salutator (Darlington, 1937) (Antillosorius), comb. nov. hitherto Osorius salutator Darlington, 1937socors (Darlington, 1937) (Antillosorius), comb. nov. hitherto Osorius socors Darlington, 1937strictus (Blackwelder, 1943) (Antillosorius), comb. nov. hitherto Osorius strictus Blackwelder,1943turquinus (Blackwelder, 1943) (Antillosorius), comb. nov. hitherto Osorius turquinus Blackwelder,1943ashei Irmler, 2010 (Osorius), spec. nov.asymetricus Fauvel, 1901 (Osorius), syn. nov. of Osorius brasiliensis Guérin, 1829continentalus Irmler, 2010 (Osorius), spec. nov.guianensis Irmler, 2010 (Osorius), spec. nov.laevigatus Sharp, 1887 (Osorius), syn. nov. of Osorius dubius Sharp, 1887latimargo Bernhauer, 1908 (Osorius), syn. nov. of Osorius nitens Sharp, 1876paganus Irmler, 2010 (Osorius), spec. nov.pusillus Irmler, 2010 (Osorius), spec. nov.simplex Sharp, 1876 (Osorius), syn. nov. of Osorius nitens Sharp, 1876tschirnhausi Irmler, 2010 (Osorius), spec. nov.venezuelanus Irmler, 2010 (Osorius), spec. nov.verhaaghi Irmler, 2010 (Osorius), spec. nov.Antillosorius Irmler, 2010 (Staphylinidae), gen. nov.As a result of review studies on the Neotropical Osorius complex a key to the Neotropical genera of the tribe Osoriini is provided, which includes the new genus Antillosorius with 18 described species from the West Indies.
