Hello. When I set out this Sunday I didn't expect to find myself in a box talking to a camera, but here I am ... here I go.
I used to work at the Phoenix and it was a place where I got to spend most of my time ... spending time with people I really enjoyed spending time with talking to people about films all day.
Now I come back because I love sitting in that screen and being taken to a different place, no matter how grey or windy the day is outside I get to come here, explore another world, see different parts of the world I would never have seen before without a cinema ... challenged ideas, think about different things.
For those two and a bit hours I'm sat in the screen, as far as I'm concerned, the world outside doesn't exist, just me in that seat with that screen and with those characters, getting absorbed into another world and, of course, you eventually have to step out into reality again, but thanks to that time you spent in the screening you look at reality in a different way.
[…] I will always be grateful for that. From when I was young to now, [cinema] still teaches me things, I still learn every time I sit in that screen. Not every time, sometimes you see occasionally a terrible film. But on the whole the cinema is magic to me and without it life would be a helluva lot more boring.

I'll give you a quick overview, because there's been a lot of things that have happened with my work and the Cultural Quarter.
But the first time I came here was in 2010, I saw this massive green building, walked inside it, Phoenix Cinema, such a beautiful space. And it was a little quiet back then. We did a few [...] projects with Phoenix using some of their suites upstairs. But since then it has grown tremendously - it's gone leaps and bounds. And the rest of the Cultural Quarter has followed in that manner. Everyone's working together to make it happen and it's such a beautiful place. One of my favourite parts of the city centre
