Ghost sign reading 'Tea & Coffee Dealer'. Although this sign faces Saffron Lane, it was likely created for Alfred Fraser Bloxham who ran the shop at 2-4 Knighton Fields West for many years. He appeared in the Kelly's directories from 1916 to 1932, but by 1954, R. Racer had taken over the shop

Ghost sign for Shipstone's Brewery, one of the company's three signs in the collection. Shipstone's Brewery was founded by James Shipstone in 1852 at the Star Brewery in New Basford, Nottingham. By 1939, the company owned 550 licensed premises, thirty diesel lorries for long distance delivery work and fifty horses for local delivery work. The company was purchased by Greenall's of Warrington in 1978, continuing to produce the beer until 1991 when production was ended. However, in 2015, Little Star Brewery began producing Shipstone's again after 24 years, using the archived recipes

Busby / ... / Stone, Marble & Granite'. Between 2019 and 2022, the ghost sign was covered with a poster sign. The Kelly's directories for 1936, 1941 and 1951 shows Walter Busby, a monumental mason, at 186 Knighton Road.

Ghost sign for 'WS Fowler Boot Manufacturer'. Although not all the lettering is visible, Kelly's directory for 1916 shows a William S Fowler, boot manufacturer at 13 and a half, Wood Hill. The sign for WS Fowler has been painted on top of another, but it is hard to make this out. In 1908, F Sharp and Co, boot manufacturers, are listed at 13 and a half, so this may be the original sign

A second sign has become visible under this first layer but remains difficult to read. According the 1932 Kelly's Directory, J. Humphreys operated a garage at 272 St. Saviours Road. In the 1941 and 1954 Kelly's Directories, L. Humphreys Jr. is listed at 4 Dorothy Road as a motor engineer

This sign is tough to read, but the deterioration in 2017 has made the lower half of the sign more visible. This is potentially one of two signs in the collection for the same firm. The 1908 and 1925 Kelly’s Directory list Charles H. Hassell, painter, at 16 Lytton Road and Thomas E. Hassell at 107 Clarendon Park Road. The 1936 Kelly’s Directory has Charles H. Hassell, painter and decorator, at both 16 Lytton Road and 93 Carisbrooke Road and Thomas Ezra Hassell, painter is listed at 687 Welford Road
