Des Black Panthers à l’Arabian Panther : quand Médine en appelle aux leaders du passé pour mener son combat. Une étude de « Self Defense »
Full text linkIn the 2000s, as French society was experiencing a rise in postcolonial demands, politicised French rappers focused their writing on themes such as the history of relationships between Europe and Africa, slavery, colonisation, and the history of immigration. Médine, who is one of these rappers, is committed to defending the cause of victims of exclusion. His keen interest in history makes him think that we have much to learn from the past so as not to repeat the same mistakes in the present. He has made it his duty to keep alive our collective memory and warn us against some official truncated versions of history. His rap “Self Defense”, from the album Arabian Panther (2008), features historical leaders who fought against various forms of oppression and defended their people’s rights.Throughout this rap, Médine establishes a close link between these leaders’ fights and his own, bringing their people together in a kind of symbolic ‘community of the oppressed’. Mixing provocation and political demands all along his rap, he draws our attention to his call for the duty of remembrance, which he finally legitimises by quoting the Taubira law promoting the recognition of the slave trade and slavery as a crime against humanity and asking for the inclusion of these historical facts in school and university curricula

No full textDieser Artikel beleuchtet die theologische Debatte der letzten Jahrzehnte über das Handeln Gottes kritisch und thematisiert insbesondere das in der sogenannten divine action debate vorausgesetzte Verständnis der Vorsehung. Im Kontrast zum dort vorherrschenden handlungsbasierten (action-based) Modell wird ein tugendbasierter (virtue-based) Ansatz ausgearbeitet, der Gottes Vorsehung konsequent teleologisch auslegt. Ziel des Artikels ist es, den operativen Vorsehungsbegriff verstärkt in den Blick zu nehmen, um eine wesentliche Voraussetzung der aktuellen theologischen Debatte und deren Begründungswürdigkeit aufzuzeigen. Die These des Artikels lautet, dass der handlungsbasierte Vorsehungsbegriff nur eine unter mehreren Optionen ist; der tugendbasierte Ansatz bietet hier eine nicht nur geschichtlich bedeutsame, sondern auch systematisch interessante Alternative.This article examines the theological debate about God’s action in recent decades, focusing in particular on the conception of providence presupposed in the so-called divine action debate. The aim of the article is to draw closer attention to the operative concept of providence inherent in the theological debate and to reveal it as an essential premise in need of justification. In contrast to the prevailing model of providence, which will be characterized as action-based, the article presents a virtue-based approach that consistently interprets God’s providence teleologically. It is argued that the action-based concept of providence is merely one among several options; the virtue-based approach presents an alternative that is not only of historic relevance, but is also interesting from a systematic point of view

No full textSowohl für die Position, dass die menschliche Freiheit im Tod versiegt, als auch für die Gegenposition, dass Freiheit in einem starken Sinne auch eschatologisch weiter besteht, sprechen jeweils gute Gründe. Der vorliegende Beitrag rekonstruiert an drei zeitgenössischen Entwürfen, in welchem Sinne den eschatologischen Subjekten Freiheit zugeschrieben werden kann. Dabei zeigt sich, dass der gegenwärtige eschatologische Diskurs Freiheit in unterschiedlichen Ausprägungen kompatibilistisch bestimmt. Im Anschluss wird dafür argumentiert, dass der Geltungsanspruch christlicher Hoffnung auf Versöhnung mit dem epistemischen Status eschatologischen Glaubens nur dann in Einklang zu bringen ist, wenn im Theoriedesign „Sollbruchstellen“ integriert werden. Als eine solche kann ein libertarischer Freiheitsbegriff fungieren, der dann auch den Subjekten im eschatologischen Geschehen zugesprochen werden muss.There are good reasons for both the assumption that human freedom evaporates in death and the opposing assumption that freedom in a strong sense will persist even eschatologically. This article reconstructs the ascription of freedom to eschatological subjects within three contemporary approaches to eschatology. It shows that the current eschatological discourse understands freedom in a compatibilist way. Subsequently, the article argues that the claim of Christian hope for atonement can only be reconciled with the epistemic status of eschatological faith if “predetermined breaking points” are integrated into the theory design. A libertarian concept of freedom, attributed to the subjects in the eschatological process, can function as such a breaking point
Leibliche Existenz und die Vision des Mind-Uploading
No full textBeim Konzept des Mind-Uploading handelt es sich im Kern um die transhumanistische Vision, durch Technik den Tod zu überwinden. In diesem Beitrag gehe ich im Wesentlichen der Frage nach, welche Theorie des Bewusstseins bzw. welches Verhältnis von Geist und Körper im Mind-Uploading vorausgesetzt werden. Ich werde dafür argumentieren, dass das zugrunde gelegte Verständnis des menschlichen Geistes problematisch ist, weil die Rolle des Eingebettetseins in einen lebendigen Körper unterschätzt wird. Mind-Uploading arbeitet mit einem stark verkürzten Begriff des Geistes, der den komplexen Bezügen zu den biologischen, psychischen und sozialen Dimensionen unserer Existenz nicht gerecht wird.The concept of mind-uploading is essentially the transhumanist vision of overcoming death through technology. In this paper, I will explore what mind-uploading presupposes in terms of theories of consciousness and the relationship between mind and body. I argue that the underlying understanding of the human mind is problematic because it underestimates the significance of being embedded in a living body. Mind-uploading works with a very truncated notion of mind that fails to do justice to the complex relationships between mind and the biological, psychological, and social dimensions of our existence
