    Students' critical thinking skills are still not optimal. One of the reasons is the use of teaching materials in the form of student worksheets that are not yet in line with the good student worksheet structure, do not yet contain the STEM approach, and critical thinking indicators have not been clearly illustrated in the student worksheet. The purpose of this study is to determine the validity of the LKPD, determine the practicality and effectiveness of using student worksheet Physics based on the STEM approach that can improve students' critical thinking. This type of research is research and development (R&D) using the Borg & Gall model which consists of the initial research and information gathering stage, planning, developing the initial product format, and initial trials. As the object of research is the Physics student worksheet based on the STEM approach. Data collection instruments used were expert validation sheets, practicality test sheets, and effectiveness test sheets. The effectiveness test uses an assessment sheet of learning outcomes tests and observation sheets of students' critical thinking. The data analysis technique used is the analysis of the validity of the Physics student worksheet, the practicality analysis of the use of the Physics student worksheet, and the effectiveness analysis of the use of the Physics student worksheet. Based on the analysis of the data that has been done, two research results can be put forward. First, the average value of the validity of the Physics student worksheet based on the STEM approach is 0.88 and this value is included in the valid category. Second, the average value of the practicality test for the use of Physics student worksheet by teachers and students respectively 91.44 and 84.14. This value shows the Physics student worksheet is in the category of very practical.     Pengembangan Instrumen Tes Berbasis Higher Order Thinking Skill Pada Materi Hidrolisis Garam Untuk Siswa SMA/MA

     The purpose of this study was to develop a higher order thinking skill (HOTS) based test instrument on salt hydrolysis for senior high school students. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D) using the Plomp model which consists of three stages, namely Preliminary Research, Prototyping Stage and Assessment Phase. The test instrument was validated by 7 experts, namely 4 chemistry lecturers of FMIPA UNP, and 3 chemistry teachers using a validation questionnaire. The small group trial was carried out by 6 students and the field test was carried out by 26 students of Senior High School number 1 in Padang. The data analysis technique for content validity uses Lawshe's CVR and the construct validity uses the aiken’s formula. The results showed that the instrument developed had good characteristics in terms of logical validity with a content validity index (CVI) of 0.841 and a construct validity of 0.82. The reliability coefficient of 0.89 is very high. The analysis of discriminating power showed 16 items had very good distinguishing quality, 4 items had good distinguishing quality, 4 items had moderate distinguishing quality. The difficulty index for 88% of the questions is categorized as medium. The correlation of the item score with a significant total score was 21 items. The dictator function on all items is effective. The data obtained shows that the test instrument based on higher order thinking skills (HOTS) on salt hydrolysis material for senior high school students is valid and has good item quality

    The current science student book is expected to have learning and assessment in it that is relevant to the demands of education now that is in accordance with 21stcentury learning that contains is critical and problem solving skills, creativity and innovation skills, collaboration skills, and communication skills it aims to develop the potential, talents and interests of students to have competent student who are ready to face global challenges. This article aims to evaluate the science student book with the theme of energy in life based integrated local materials using integrated models 21st century learning. Evaluation consists of testing the effectiveness of 21st century learning student’s skill after using this science student book. Thus, the results of study indicate that science student book with the theme of energy in life based integrated local materials using integrated models 21st century learning which is effectively used in student learning in class. Based on these result, it appears that science student book with the theme of energy in life based integrated local materials using integrated models can improve student’s High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS

    Material inheritance is one of the materials in science subjects that students are less interested in. This can be seen from the low motivation of students in learning. In addition, in this material students are required to use a variety of terms that are new to them, using letter symbols to indicate characteristic or genes in order to be able to cross and be able to determine the choice of genotypes and phenotypes resulting from these crosses. The purpose of this study was to increase the activities of students who use chess boards on material inheritance. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was conducted in two cycles. The subjects of this study were 30 students in class IXa. The results of this study indicate the use of chessboard media on class nature inheritance material in class IXa students at SMPN 4 Solok City can increase student activity. Thus this media can be used in learning to increase student activity on material inheritance

    Peningkatan Hasil Belajar Konfigurasi Elektron dengan Menggunakan KIT SELECTION (Smart Electron Configuration)

    This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students on the electron configuration subject matter at SMA negeri 2 Sungai Raya. This research aims to determine whether there was a difference in student learning outcomes between those who were given learning using KIT Selection media and those not on the electron configuration subject matter. Quasi experimental in the form of pretest-posttest control group design in the type of this study. The sample of this study were X IPA 2 as the control class and X IPA 3 as the experiment class. In experiment class, cooperative learning assisted by KIT Selection was given, whereas cooperative learning without KIT Selection was applied in control class. The result of U-Mann Whitney Test showed that the significant value of 0,004 < 0,05. Based on this result, it can be concluded that there was differences in learning outcomes between those who were given learning using KIT Selection media and those not on the electron configuration subject matter. The result of the Effect Size KIT Selection is 1,01 which is categorized as high and has an effect on learning outcomes by 34,38%.&nbsp

    Studi Kesulitan Belajar Mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan IPA dalam Mempelajari Sifat Periodik Unsur

    Periodical properties of elements are not a new topic for students in science education department for they have studied this topic previously in senior high school and in General Chemistry course. However, teaching experiences for the past two years in Basic Inorganic Chemistry course revealed that many students still failed to master the expected learning outcomes for this topic. Therefore, this explorative study was conducted to figure out what kind of difficulty that students perceived in learning this topic. One hundred and twelve students in science education department of Universitas Negeri Padang enrolled in Basic Inorganic Chemistry course in the academic year of 2017/2018 were involved as subjects in this study, and data of students’ perceived learning difficulties were collected with a questionnaire. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics technique to map out our findings which will become the fundamental consideration in discussing attempts to overcome students’ perceived learning difficulties. Our findings revealed that the sources of students’ perceived difficulty came from several factors, namely: the characteristic of content, personal learning style, condition of classroom learning, availability of relevant learning resources and previous learning experiences.     Desain Dan Uji Coba Media Pembelajaran Video Animasi Stop Motion Berbasis Saintifik Pada Materi Ikatan Kimia

    This research was instigated by the students who were not able to process the knowledge gained and the lack of learning media in the learning process. This research aimed at knowing the validity and practicality levels of Scientific based Stop Motion animation video learning media on Chemical Bond lesson, especially on Ionic and Covalent Bonding. There were 5 development procedure stages using Borg and Gall model— collecting information, planning, developing the product, field testing, and revising the initial form of the product. This research was administered at State Vocational High School 2 Pekanbaru. Interview, questionnaire, and documentation were used to collect the data. Scentific based Stop Motion animation video learning media developed was tested valid by the experts of media and material with 87.14% mean percentage (very valid), and it was tested practical by 4 Chemistry subject teachers and 12 students with 92.86% mean percentage (very practical). Based on these findings, it could be concluded that Scientific based Stop Motion animation video learning media on Chemical Bond lesson was valid and practical, so it could be done the product testing at a further stage

    This study aims to analyze the correlation between digital attitude and literacy of students with their 21st-century competencies. This research is a quantitative study with a correlation research design. Sample of 156 students from 5 schools in Jambi province. This research method is correlation analysis, data is obtained from questionnaires answered by respondents. The results showed that digital literacy of students has a significant and positive correlation with their 21st-century competencies with significance 0,000. Thus, it was concluded that 21st century competencies was developed along with the development of digital literacy for the development of students’ 21st-century skills, and to realize learning under the demands of 21st-century learning

    Pengembangan Local Instructional Theory Pada Topik Pembagian dengan Pendekatan Matematika Realistik

    This research aimed to develop local instruction theory that is valid, practical, and effective to help elementary school students developing their mathematical problem-solving skills. Therefore a sequential activityis design on dailybasis to encourage students to develop their ability to solve mathematical problems, especially on the topic division. To achieve the goal, realistic mathematics approach was implemented to grade three elementary students in the learning process. The designed activities were validated by experts on the aspects of mathematical contents, language, didactical process based on realistic mathematical approach. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and parametric statistics. The validation results show that the local instruction theory was valid, and the implementation shows that the local instruction theory is practical and effective in improving students' mathematical problem-solving skills
