No full textΤο Ευρωπαϊκό Ψηφιακό Πιστοποιητικό (εφεξής ΕΨΠ) προβλέφθηκε νομοθετικά με τον Κανονισμό (ΕΕ) 2021/953, και με αυτό εισάχθηκε για πρώτη φορά το πιστοποιητικό εμβολιασμού στις έννομες τάξεις των κρατών – μελών της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης ως μέτρο για την αντιμετώπιση της πανδημίας του κορωνοϊού COVID-19. Η παρούσα μελέτη εξετάζει το ΕΨΠ από νομικής σκοπιάς και ειδικότερα υπό το πρίσμα της προστασίας των δεδομένων προσωπικού χαρακτήρα με σημείο αναφοράς το Γενικό Κανονισμό Προστασίας Δεδομένων (ΓΚΠΔ). Αρχικά, γίνεται μία αναλυτική παρουσίαση για το πώς λειτουργεί το ΕΨΠ στην πράξη, με ειδικότερη αναφορά στα δεδομένα που το τελευταίο επεξεργάζεται. Στη συνέχεια, εξετάζονται με κριτική ματιά τα ζητήματα που άπτονται της νομοθετικής προστασίας των προσωπικών δεδομένων εφαρμοζόμενα ειδικά στην περίπτωση του ΕΨΠ, όπως είναι η νόμιμη βάση για την επεξεργασία, η αρχή του σκοπού της επεξεργασίας, η αρχή της ελαχιστοποίησης των δεδομένων, ο χρόνος διατήρησης των δεδομένων, καθώς και τα οργανωτικά και τεχνικά μέτρα, τα οποία εφαρμόζονται στο ΕΨΠ. Η εργασία ολοκληρώνεται μια μία κριτική αποτίμηση του ΕΨΠ σε σχέση με τη διαφύλαξη των προσωπικών δεδομένων και ειδικότερα των δεδομένων υγείας και την αξιολόγησή του ως νομοθετικό εργαλείο προστασίας της δημόσιας υγείας
Examining Artificial Intelligence through the scope of the GDPR
No full textThis paper was written for the purposes of the course ‘European Union Data Protection and ICT Law’ of the LL.M. ‘European Business and Economic Law’ of the A.U.Th. and was supervised by Professor Dr. Ioannis Inglezakis. The evolution, usefulness and special characteristics of Artificial Intelligence technology have raised serious considerations regarding the protection of fundamental human rights, like the right to privacy and to the protection of personal data. Is the self-declared ‘technologically neutral’ General Data Protection Regulation capable of facing these challenges? To this end, it is always a matter of interpretation of the law, which can be developed and broadened according to the needs of society. In this specific case, it is examined how the interpretation of the general principles of the GDPR, the provisions of the automated processing and of the co-regulatory approach of the GDPR are affected, when the processing of personal data is made through AI systems. After all, the principle of privacy by design and privacy by default can guarantee a sufficient level of protection of personal data, by putting emphasis on the ad hoc foreseeable method for data processing.
Complexity and Simplicity of University Students’ Associative Knowledge of History of Science: Knowledge Organisation Poised on the Edge Chaos?
No full textIn a recent study, we examined pre-service teachers’ associative knowledge networks abouthistory of science, how pre-service science teachers relate events, ideas, characters, and deedsin history of science and in cultural and general history. We found a strong dominance ofpersons in the organization of that knowledge (Matthew effect). Here, we continue theanalysis started in that previous study. By using a network approach, we focus here on theeffects of thematic scaffoldings (thematization and periodization) on the structure of thestudents’ (N=25) associative knowledge of history of science, culture, society, and politics inera between 1550 and 1850. We explore the types of connections students make and howimportant the different types of connections are for the overall structure of the associativenetwork. In addition, we find out how frequently certain connections are recalled in the groupof 25 students. The results show that person-to-science connections are dominant, butscience-to-history connections are also important, thus alleviating the bias towards theperson-centered conceptions of history of science found in the previous study.Keywords: history, science, network approach, thematic scaffoldings, recal

In 2019, CCS was held for the first time in Asia, where increasingly more excitingwork on complexity has been conducted in recent years. The conference took place in Singapore, where East meets West, accommodating the great minds of both cultures in the dynamic city-country. A one-day satellite symposium on complexity and education was organized by Matthijs Koopmans, Hiroki Sayama, Dimitrios Stamovlasis, Vahid Aryadoust, and me at National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University on October 2nd, 2019, carrying on the spirit of adopting a complexity perspective to explore burningand pertinacious issues in education. No full textThis paper focuses on the presentation of a social narrative entitled "The second chance", an interactive documentary of the series "Remarkable people" (2011 - 2019) by Menelaos Karamagiolis. The interactive documentary shows the effort of Rokas, a former prisoner in the Special Youth Detention Center of Avlona Greece, on his trajectory to claim a second chance; a chance of studies and freedom. The signifiers of the audiovisual messages are linked to the hero's ideological and psychological states and turn the documentary into a "weapon" for asserting his freedom, but at the same time they serve the purpose of projecting an important message and a micro-circumstance and social circumstance: the education in prison. After studying the interactive path of the interactor, we will move on to a brief analysis of the mainly narrative structure of the interactive documentary, following the genetic path of Greimas, as presented by Lagopoulos and Boklund-Lagopoulou (2016). Through isotopies we move from a micro-perception of communication to a macro-perception that moves outside the boundaries of the text and relates to social semiotics; The documentary follows the triptych "prison - education - opportunities" and addresses the issue of the second chance that a prisoner can have when he makes good use of the resources given to him through school
