    The Effect of Teams Games Tournament (TGT) Towards Students' Speaking Skills in 11th Grade at SMK YPSEI Palangka Raya

    This research aimed to determine whether Teams Games Tournament (TGT) has an effect on students’ speaking skills of descriptive text. A preexperimental design with pre-test and post-test was employed in this research, conducted at SMK YPSEI Palangka Raya in eleventh-grade students with a sample of 16 chosen through total sampling. Speaking tests were used as an instrument to collect the required data. Additionally, a questionnaire was distributed to gather students’ perceptions of TGT. The data was analyzed using the Paired Sample ttest. The results showed that the average pre-test score of 59.75 increased to 68.75 in the post-test. Furthermore, in the paired sample t-test score, the calculated t-value (6.473) was greater than the critical t-value (1.753), leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a positive effect of the TGT learning method on the speaking skills of eleventh-grade students at SMK YPSEI Palangka Raya. This was further supported by the positive responses from the questionnaire, which indicated that the TGT learning method helped students improve their speaking skills and boosted their confidence in speaking English. Consequently, this method has been successful in improving students’ speaking skills

    THE EFFECT OF GRAMMARLY APPLICATION TO ENHANCE STUDENTS’ ACCURACY IN WRITING SKILL OF ENGLISH EDUCATION STUDENTS STUDY PROGRAM

    The objective of the research was to find out whether using the Grammarly application is effective to improve students writing quality of Analytical Exposition Text in the fourth semester of English Education Study Program Students in academic year of 2022. This research used a pre-experimental approach, the research involved 20 students who underwent pre-tests, received the Grammarly treatment, and then underwent post-tests. Data analysis included normality tests, hypothesis tests, descriptive statistics, mean score calculations, and a t-test. The result of the research indicated that the mean score in the post-test (73,30) is higher than the pre-test score (62,15). The result of t-test (4.254) was higher than t-table (2,045). Therefore, the study supported the alternative hypothesis (Ha) that Grammarly effectively enhances students' writing quality, while rejecting the null hypothesis (Ho). The researcher determined that the Grammarly Application effectively enhances the quality of students' writing in Analytical Exposition Text during the fourth semester of the English Education Study Program, confirming that the hypothesis in this research was accepted

    One of the most important and complicated English abilities is writing. Students focus and interest become the most important factors when teaching learning writing. Think-pair-share is the most effective technique to develop students’ focus and interest in writing. Think Pair Share (TPS) is a collaborative learning strategy that allows students to do pair discussions in order to support their higher-level thinking. The research conducted by using quasi-experimental research design. The population of this research was all of the students at SMPN 2 Sepang in the academic year 2023/2024. The researcher took two classes as the sample, namely 9A and 9B.The result of statistic test using Mann-Whitney U is Asymp Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.00 which is less than 0.05. Based on result, the implementation of Think-Pair-Share technique in teaching-learning give the significant effect for student’s ability in writing. Then, the class circumstance, and the content, organization, vocabulary also mechanics of students’ writing in experiment class was better than the control class

    AN ANALYSIS OF DERIVATIONAL MORPHEMES FOUND IN COMIC STRIPS OF “ENGLISH FOR NUSANTARA IN EIGHT GRADE” TEXTBOOK

    This thesis examines the use of prefixes and suffixes in comic strips of English for Nusantara in eight grade of junior high school published by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. In this research the writer uses all of words that are attached prefix and suffix as the data. The type of this research is descriptive research. This research can increase the readers knowledge about prefixes and suffixes, the word class and the meaning. The researcher found the types of derivational affixes in comic strips of English for Nusantara in eight grade textbook there are prefixes in- and re-, while there are 19 suffixes -ly, -y, -er, -ion, -ate, -ness, -ual, -ful and -ence. The most frequently number function is noun formation, along with other word forms, suggests that students are consistently exposed to practical examples of how derivational morphemes modify and expand word meanings. This contextual exposure helps the process of word formation, making it easier for students to grasp the underlying principles. By encountering derivational morphemes in comic strips, which are inherently engaging and relatable, students can better understand and retain these concepts, improving their ability to apply them in both written and spoken English

    THE EFFECT OF ELSA SPEAK APPLICATION ON STUDENTS’ PRONUNCIATION AT THE ELEVENTH-GRADE OF SMA NEGERI 2 PALANGKA RAYA

    To address the challenges many English language learners face with accurate pronunciation, integrating advanced learning tools has become essential. This study aims to find out the effect of ELSA Speak Application as English language speech assistant on students’ pronunciation specifically on 24 consonants of English. ELSA Speak employs sophisticated artificial intelligence to offer comprehensive feedback on pronunciation, assisting users in enhancing their accent and accuracy in pronunciation. By focusing on the pronunciation of English consonants, this study seeks to highlight the application's effectiveness in aiding learners to achieve greater clarity and accuracy in spoken English, particularly for Indonesian students. This study is conducted on SMA Negeri 2 Palangka Raya, the sample is eleventh-grade with 4 students from XI-2. A one-group pre-test and post-test design was applied in this pre-experimental research. In the pre-test, students pronounced the same 24 words as in the post-test to see if there was an effect of ELSA Speak with the personal feedback feature. In the course of the treatment, the researcher directed the students to utilize the ELSA Speak application to listen to the correct pronunciation of English consonants. The data acquired were then analysed using SPSS Version 25. The outcome of the data analysed showed that the pre-test and post-test score was not distributed normally using the Shapiro-Wilk test, resulted the researcher to use the non-parametric test: Wilcoxon Sign Rank test for hypothesis testing. The calculation of the test displayed the value of Sig. (2 tailed) Sig. < 0.05 then, Ho rejected, and Ha accepted. This confirmed a significant effect of the ELSA Speak application on the students' pronunciation abilities in the eleventh-grade at SMA Negeri 2 Palangka Raya. The descriptive data analysis thus supports that the results of this study demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in pronunciation, validating the effectiveness of ELSA Speak as a tool for enhancing English pronunciation skills among students

    Tradisi Nariuk telah menjadi aktivitas yang populer di kalangan masyarakat dayak maayan dan dinyatakan sebagai olahraga masyarakat, sehingga di adakan nya festival Nariuk setiap tahun nya. Penelitian ini mengamati aktifitas gerak pada saat melakukan Nariuk. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tradisi nariuk scara umum dan menguraikan gerakan tradisi nariuk. Analisis data dalam penelitian kualitatif dilakukan secara induktif, penafsirannya berlaku khusus, k rena adanya batas yang ditentukan oleh fokus. Analisis itu sendiri dilakukan sejak awal penelitian yang bisa saja dilakukan secara partisipasi tanpa mengganggu jalannya penelitian, oleh karena itu, Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah tematik. Hasil penelitian dapat di simpulkan bahwa Tradisi Nariuk adalah suatu tradisi mencari ikan dengan Teknik menombak menggunakan tombak diatas sebuah rakit, pelampung, dan batang pohon atau kayu-kayu yang berada di dalam air untuk tempat berpijak. Tradisi ini berasal dari daerah Barito Kalimantan Tengah. Tradisi ini di laksanakan pada saat musim kemarau tiba, pada saat air mulai surut dan hanya tersisa pada titk terdalam yaitu lubuk sungai. Hasil analisis gerak pada tradisi nariuk masuk dalam kriteria sesuai dengan menganalisis dari sikap awalan dan sikap menombak. Kementerian Agama Kota Palangka Raya sebagai sub sistem instansi pemerintahan Republik Indonesia mempunyai tugas melaksanakan sebagian tugas pemerintah dibidang agama. Peneliti mengkaji kinerja Kementerian Agama Kota Palangka Raya dalam tugasnya menjaga kerukunan umat beragama. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui dan menjelaskankinerja dan apa saja faktorpenghambat dan pendukungyang mempengaruhikinerja Kementerian Agama Kota Palangka Raya dalam menjaga kerukunaan umat bergama jelang pemilu tahun 2024. Metodologi yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yakni observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Terdapat informan utama dan informan pendukung untuk dilakukan wawancara. Teknik analisis data yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan dari lima indikator Kinerja teori Dwiyanto (2006), Kementerian Agama Kota Palangka Raya mampu menciptakan dan menjaga kerukunan umat beragama jelang pemilu tahun 2024. Faktor penghambat yang ditemukan adalah jauhnya dan medan yang harus dilewati dengan transportasi airsehingga program tersebut butuh pengeluaran dana yang tak sedikit pula. Faktor pendukung yang ditemukan adalah sumber daya manusia dan hibah dana dari Kementerian Agama Kota Palangka Raya kepada mitra FKUB KotaPalangka Raya dalam pelaksanaan program, serta falsafahHuma Betang yang sudah menjadi pengikat untuk menjaga kerukunan umat beragama

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tentang Penerapan Sistem Pelayanan Administrasi Pada Sub Bagian Umum dan Kepegawaian Dinas Pendidikan Kota Palangka Raya. Dapat dilihat dari aspek: (1) Kesesuaian persyaratan pelayanan pada Dinas Pendidikan Kota Palangka Raya, (2) Kemudahan prosedur pelayanan, (3) Kesesuaian jangka waktu pelayanan pada Dinas Pendidikan Kota Palangka Raya, (4) Kesesuaian biaya pelayanan pada Dinas Pendidikan Kota palangka Raya, (5) Kesigapan petugas pelayanan (6) Perilaku/kemampuan petugas pelayanan pada Dinas Pendidikan Kota Palangka Raya, (7) Kualitas dan Ketersediaan sarana dan prasarana pada Dinas Pendidikan Kota Palangka Raya, (8) Layanan Konsultasi dan pengaduan pada Dinas Pendidikan Kota Palangka Raya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pendekatan kualitatif. Sumber data primer dalam penelitian ini yaitu: Sekretaris Kepala Dinas, Kepala Sub Bagian Umum dan Kepegawaian, Staf Administrasi, Pegawai, Guru/Operator Sekolah dan Masyarakat. Prosedur pengumpulan data ini menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan cara: (1) Pengumpulan data, (2) Reduksi data, (3) Penyajian data dan (4) Penarik kesimpulan. Pengecekan keabsahan data penelitian ini menggunakan Teknik (1) Kredibilitas, (2) Transferabilitas, (3) Depentabilitas, (4) Konfirmabilitas. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa: (1) dalam kesesuaian persyaratan pelayanan sudah cukup baik dan efisien; (2) Kemudahan prosedur pelayanan sudah cukup mudah dipahami dan diakses, infromasi tersedia melalui berbagai saluran; (3) Kesesuaian jangka waktu pelayanan sudah sangat baik dan memadai, proses layanan bisa diselesaikan dalam waktu singkat; (4) Kesesuaian biaya pelayanan, tidak ada prosedur penetapan biaya yang berlaku dikarenakan tidak ada pungutan biaya apapun, untuk semua layanan gratis; (5) Kesigapan petugas pelayanan sudah menunjukkan tingkat profesionalisme, dalam memberikan layanan yang efisien dan memastikan dokumen-dokumen yang masuk segera di proses; (6) Perilaku/kemampuan petugas pelayanan sudah menunjukkan kualitas yang sangat baik dalam melayani masyarakat; (7) Kualitas dan ketersediaan sarana dan prasarana sudah cukup baik terdapat ruang tunggu luas dan nyaman dengan kursi dan pencahayaan memadai; (8) Layanan konsultasi dan pengaduan pelayanan, pengaduan dapat dilakukan secara offline dan online

    POTENSI Trichoderma spp. RIZOSFER KALAKAI (Stenochlaena palustris (Burm. F) Bedd.) SEBAGAI AGENS PENGENDALI PATOGEN PENYEBAB PENYAKIT BERCAK DAUN KACANG TANAH (Arachis hypogaea L.)

    Kacang tanah merupakan salah satu tanaman palawija penting di Indonesia. Produksi kacang tanah di Indonesia mengalami penurunan yang diakibatkan patogen penyebab penyakit bercak daun. Trichoderma spp. menjadi salah satu agen hayati yang dapat digunakan sebagai pengendali bercak daun pada kacang tanah. Trichoderma spp. memiliki kemampuan dalam menghambat bahkan membunuh patogen melalui proses kompetisi, mikoparasitisme, dan antibiosis. Potensi Trichoderma spp terhadap penyakit bercak daun pada tanaman kacang tanah masih belum dilakukan. Oleh sebab itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi Trichoderma spp. dalam menghambat patogen penyebab penyakit bercak daun pada tanaman kacang tanah, dan untuk memberikan informasi maupun data mengenai Trichoderma spp. asal rizosfer kalakai yang berpotensi pada pengendalian penyakit bercak daun pada kacang tanah. Penelitian dilakukan dengan tahapan isolasi patogen bercak daun, uji postulat koch, uji patogenisitas Trichoderma spp., dan uji kultur ganda. Data mortalitas, tinggi tanaman, panjang akar, dan bobot tanaman pada uji patogenisitas Trichoderma spp. dan data terkait persentase penghambatan pada dual culture test akan dilakukan analisis secara deskriptif. Uji kultur ganda dilakukan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 5 kali perlakuan dan masing-masing ulangan memiliki 2 unit percobaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan semua isolat Trichoderma spp. yang digunakan non patogenik dan mendukung pertumbuhan kecambah kacang tanah lebih baik dari kontrol. Isolat Trichoderma spp. Tr.k10 dan Tr.k23 diketahui mendukung pertumbuhan tinggi tanaman, panjang akar, dan bobot tanaman paling tinggi, sedangkan isolat Tr,k18 mendukung bobot tanaman, akan tetapi untuk mendukung pertumbuhan tinggi tanaman, serta panjang akar lebih rendah dibandingkan isolat lainya. Isolat Trichoderma sp. Tr.k18 memiliki nilai penghambatan terhadap patogen bercak daun paling tinggi dari kontrol dan 4 isolat lainnya, yaitu 74,98% terhadap patogen HR.001 dan 72,54% terhadap patogen HR.002

    AN ANALYSIS OF STUDENT WRITING ABILITY IN WRITING CAPTION TEXT AT THE TWELFTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA NUSANTARA PALANGKA RAYA

    One of the basic competencies that English learners had to have was writing text. The caption text was a descriptive text that provided a concise and imaginative interpretation of the described image.While a caption was a brief descriptive text, it nonetheless presented a unique set of challenges in accurately and effectively conveying the nuances of an image. This research, therefore, sought to elucidate the proficiency level of XII-grade students of SMA Nusantara Palangka Raya in the art of caption writing. This research employed a qualitative descriptive methodology. Data were collected through the administration of an assignment requiring students to compose a caption comprising five images pertaining to the natural environment. Data analysis entailed the identification of caption writing skills aligning with the theoretical framework proposed by Grayam (2010) who stated that good caption consisted of Clarity, Conciseness, Relevancy, Context, and Attractiveness criteria. Afterwards the analysis of the data obtained, then discussing the data. The final step was drawing conclusions based on the results of data analysis and discussion. The findings of this research suggested that average students demonstrated Excellent proficiency in the Clarity criteria, with scores reaching 100. Their performance in the Conciseness criteria was also commendable, attaining a Very Good level with a score of 80. Similarly, average students exhibited Excellent level in the Relevancy criteria, with a score of 85. However, their comprehension of Context criteria was merely satisfactory, attaining a Good level with a score of 50. Their understanding of Attractiveness criteria, on the other hand, was less developed, with a score of 20 indicating a Poor level of proficiency. The average level of students' abilities in all criteria assessed was Very Good with a score of 67.Although students' average ability for all indicators was at the Very Good level, it should be noted that the requirements for a good caption were a text that contained all five aspects, namely Clarity, Conciseness, Relevancy, Context, and Attractiveness, so it could be concluded that there were only four captions from two images that met the criteria of a good caption
