THE EFFECT OF USING YOUTUBE VIDEOS OF “ASKING FOR AND GIVING OPINIONS AND THOUGHTS” ON STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILL ON THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF MAN KOTA PALANGKA RAYA IN ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2022/2023
The objective of this research was to find out whether using YouTube videosof "Asking and Giving Opinions or Thoughts" has a significant effect on students'speaking skills.A pre-experimental design employing a one-group pretest – post-test groupdesign was utilized as the research method. The population of this study wereeleventh-grade students from MAN Kota Palangka Raya. XI MIPA 1 was chosenas the experimental group using cluster random sampling, while XI MIPA 2 waschosen as the tryout group. Speaking skills were evaluated with a pretest and post-test. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon non-parametric test due tothe non-normal distribution of the data. Additionally, a questionnaire was utilizedas secondary data to supplement the statistical findings in this research.Based on the results of the Wilcoxon non-parametric test, if the Asymp. Sig.(2-tailed) value is less than sig. 0,05 (Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) < 0,05), then thealternative hypothesis (Ha) can be accepted while rejecting the null hypothesis(Ho). In this case, the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value was found to be 0,001.Comparing this value to the probability value of 0,05, it means that 0,001 < 0,05,indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis(Ho) is rejected. It was also supported by the results of the questionnaire, whichshowed that the students' responses fell into the "agree" category for 4 questionsand the "strongly agree" category for 6 other questions after being analyzed byusing the % index formula and the percentage of questionnaire scores in Table 4.5.It can be concluded that YouTube videos of “asking for and giving opinions andthoughts” have a significant effect on students’ speaking skills in the eleventh gradeat MAN Kota Palangka Raya in the academic year 2022-2023
AN ANALYSIS OF TEACHERS’ QUESTIONING STRATEGIES DURING THE CLASSROOM INTERACTION AT ELEVENTH GRADE OF SMAN 5 PALANGKA RAYA
This research focuses on analyzing teachers' questioning strategies during interactions in Eleventh grade English classes at SMAN 5 Palangka Raya. The aim of this research was to identify the types of questions used by teachers and understand the reasons behind implementing questioning strategies.
This research used a qualitative descriptive method, with observation and interviews with two teachers as the main data collection tools. In observations, researchers used instruments in the form of observation sheets, field notes, and voice recorders as the main tools. For interviews, researchers used instruments in the form of interview guides and audio recorders.
Findings indicated that Teacher 1 frequently used convergent questions, which encouraged students to recall information and provide specific answers. However, the limited use of divergent questions sometimes hinders students' ability to think critically and explore multiple perspectives. Teacher 2 used a balanced combination of convergent and procedural questions, encouraging student understanding and participation. Teacher 2 also relies on humor and voice intonation to keep the class atmosphere lively. However, no use of divergent questions was found at all. Both teachers faced challenges, such as varying student abilities and curriculum changes, but addressed them by providing gradual guidance and positive reinforcement.
This study recommends that teachers reflect on their questioning practices and integrate more divergent questions to stimulate critical thinking from the outset of the semester. Through adaptive questioning strategies, teachers can create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
HUBUNGAN DAYA TAHAN OTOT LENGAN DENGAN KETERAMPILAN FOREHAND DAN BACKHAND DALAM PERMAINAN TENIS MEJA PADA MAHASISWA PROGRAM STUDI PJKR FKIP UPR
Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah masih rendahnya daya tahan otot lengan dan kurangnya ketrampilan mahasiswa penguasaan teknik dasar permainan tenis meja, sehingga mengakibatkan pukulan backhand dan forehand masih kurang baik maka perlu ditingkatkan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan daya tahan otot lengan terhadap pukulan backhand dan forehand dalam permainan tenis meja di Program Studi PJKR FKIP UPR.
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, dalam bentuk uji tiga variabel yang sifat permasalahannya dirancang pada penelitian korelasional. Populasi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa angkatan tahun akademik 2022/2023 yang berjumlah 30 orang. Penetapan besar kecilnya sampel yang diambil adalah secara keseluruhan atau total sampling, porvosive sampling jenuh yang berjumlah 30 orang.
Hasil penelitian yaitu hubungan antara daya tahan otot lengan dengan pukulan forehand jika dilihat dari interval koefisien korelasi (0,400-0,599/ 0,538) termasuk pada hubungan yang cukup. Hubungan antara daya tahan otot lengan dengan pukulan backhand jika dilihat dari interval koefisien korelasi (0,400-0,599/0,428) termasuk pada hubungan yang cukup. Hubungan antara pukulan forehand dengan pukulan backhand jika dilihat dari interval koefisien korelasi (0,400-0,599/ 0,577) termasuk pada hubungan yang cukup. Hubungan antara daya tahan otot lengan dengan keterampilan forehand dan backhand jika dilihat dari interval koefisien korelasi (0,60-0,799/ 0,775) termasuk pada hubungan yang kuat
A SYNTACTICAL ANALYSIS OF PREPOSITIONAL PHRASE FOUND IN NARRATIVE AND DESCRIPTIVE TEXTS OF BAHASA INGGRIS: WORK IN PROGRESS GRADE TENTH TEXTBOOK
Prepositional phrases represent sentence elements that indicated certain relationships between words in a sentence that contributed to the coherence and understanding of the sentence. Understanding prepositional phrases through syntactic structure with tree diagrams provided a visual understanding of the elements from which the phrase was formed. Here was why, this research aimed to describe the types of prepositional phrase and their syntactic analysis found in narrative and descriptive texts of Bahasa Inggris: Work in Progress Grade Tenth textbook.This research used a qualitative descriptive method with content analysis where data collection by using documentation technique. Data classification and analysis were based on the theory by Downing (2015).Findings from this research, from 2 narrative texts and 2 descriptive texts found 97 prepositional phrases data with a simple type of 60.8%, and a complex type with two prepositions of 30%, and a complex type with three prepositions of 9.2%. The results of this research proved that prepositional phrases existed and were used in both narrative and descriptive texts because prepositional phrases had the function of providing related information in sentences so that the sentences were clear. This was the importance of studying prepositional phrases in relation to complete reading comprehension. Understanding the formation of prepositional phrases through syntactic structure with tree diagrams provided a visual description of the elements from which the phrase was formed which made it easier for students or English language learners, especially prepositional phrase learners, to easily understand the prepositional phrase itself
AN ANALYSIS OF DEIXIS IN “ALICE IN WONDERLAND (2010)”, A MOVIE
The aimed of this research are to analyze the types of deixis used in Alice in Wonderland (2010) movie. Because there are still some people who do not know about the existence of deixis, and even if there are some who do, there are still problems that will arise in conversations, which are usually caused by a lack of understanding about the various types of deixis. It was because of this factor that the researcher chose the type of deixis analysis as the focus of her research.
This research uses descriptive qualitative methods because the goal of the study is to identify different types of deixis in film, and the researcher employs a pragmatic approach to data analysis. The data was taken from words, phrases, and sentences that contain deixis from Alice in Wonderland (2010) movie. The primary data source is the movie, and the secondary data source is the script.
The data are collected through documentation techniques. The research results reveal two discussions. First, the researcher found 1.176 data containing deixis words used in the movie and the most deixis that the researcher found is person deixis. There are five types of deixis words in the movie; person deixis such as I, me, my, we, myself, us, our, you, your, yours, yourself, she, her, he, his, him, them, their, they, herself, and himself. Spatial deixis such as, here, there, this, that. Temporal deixis such as, last night, past four, last twenty years, ten minutes, last forever, soon be twenty, for weeks, every day, today, now, tomorrow. Discourse deixis such as, this,but, that, and therefore. The last one is social deixis such as, father, mother, sister, wife, husband, madame, miss, lord, aunt, grandchildren, son, fiancé, prince, your majesty, majesty, darling, pups, queen, m’lady, knight, dear, champion, king, madman, daughter, mums, daddy, enemy, sir, and daughter-in-law
The Effect of Using Direct Vocabulary Instruction through Flashcard Media on Students' Vocabulary Mastery at the Eighth-Grade Students of MTs Muslimat NU Palangka Raya
Vocabulary is an important aspect of language for efficient communication. However, many students have difficulty understanding and mastering the meaning of basic English vocabulary, especially common nouns. This can lead to students' lack of interest and lack of mastery of English vocabulary. Students often find it difficult to understand English sentences and feel bored whenever they learn English. This study aims to determine whether there is an increase in students' vocabulary mastery of Direct Vocabulary Instruction through Flashcards.
In this research, direct vocabulary instruction through flashcards is used to solve students' problems in mastering vocabulary. This method allows students to understand and master English vocabulary. This research used quantitative research methods with the type of pre-experimental research in the form of one group pre-test and post-test design. The sample was taken by purposive sampling technique and students of class VIII-D MTs Muslimat NU Palangka Raya were determined as samples in this research. Data was collected through tryout, pre-test, and post-test to determine students' vocabulary mastery. Data was analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Ranks Test with SPSS version 26.
The pre-test analysis showed that the average score of students before receiving the Direct Vocabulary Instruction through flashcard treatment was 75.55. After the treatment, a post-test was conducted to evaluate the improvement of students' vocabulary mastery. The post-test results showed that the students‘ average score was 87.55, indicating an increase in students’ average results after receiving Direct Vocabulary Instruction through Flashcards. Based on the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks-Test results, the p-value in the Asymp Sig (2-tailed) column is 0.000 < 0.05. Because the value of 0.000 is smaller than 0.05, it can be seen that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Thus, it was concluded that there is an effect of using Direct Vocabulary Instruction through Falshcard Media on Vocabulary Mastery of class VIII students of MTs Muslimat NU Palangka Raya
FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHI PERSEPSI ORANG TUA DALAM MEMASUKKAN ANAK KE PENDIDIKAN ANAK USIA DINI DI DESA TUMBANG MANJUL KECAMATAN SERUYAN HULU
Persepsi merupakan suatu proses yang dimulai dari penglihatan hingga terbentuk tanggapan yang terjadi dalam diri individu sehingga individu sadar akan segala sesuatu dalam lingkungannya melalui indera-indera yang dimilikinya. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan oleh peneliti adalah menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif (metode survei) dengan pendekatan penelitian kuantitatif. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini menggunakan angket.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan seperti yang diuraikan pada bab sebelumnya, dapat disimpulkan dalam penelitian ini terdapat dua faktor yang mempengaruhi persepsi orang tua dalam memasukkan anak ke pendidikan anak usia dini yaitu faktor internal dan faktor eksternal. Faktor internal memperoleh nilai 100% yang didominankan indikator pengalaman sehingga dapat dikategorikan “Baik Sekali” dalam mempengaruhi persepsi orang tua dalam memasukkan anak ke pendidikan anak usia dini. Sedangkan faktor eksternal memperoleh nilai 100% yang didominankan indikator lingkungan masyarakat dan indikator sekolah sehingga dapat dikategorikan “Baik Sekali” dalam mempengaruhi persepsi orang tua dalam memasukkan anak ke pendidikan anak usia dini
THE EFFECT OF USING ROLEPLAY TO THE STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILL OF THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMKS YPSEI PALANGKA RAYA
The low number of speaking lessons makes students think that speaking is the most challenging skill to learn, by applying roleplay teaching strategies to encourage students to dare to speak up. Here was why, this research aimed to investigate the effect of utilizing a roleplay on the speaking skill of students of X OTKP-TB SMK YPSEI Palangka Raya. This research used a quantitative research method with an experimental design. The type of experiment was a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test design.
The result of the research was the mean score of the post-test was higher than the post- test (83,33 > 37,85). The result of data calculation by using the Wilcoxon Ranked Method in different test pre-test and post-tests was interpreted as p-value -3.749 < alpha 0.05, meaning accepted the Hα hypothesis. It meant that there was an effect of the roleplay teaching strategy in improving the speaking skills of class X students at SMKS YPSEI Palangka Raya. The steps (procedures) for applying roleplay teaching strategies were very important to pay attention to, although they do not had to be exactly the same, as long as the core steps (procedures) of this roleplay were implemented. The essence of the roleplay steps (procedures) was understanding the script, practicing saying it, and acting it out in the group. These roleplay steps (procedures) made students brave enough to speak up
PENGELOLAAN SARANA DAN PRASARANA DI TK IT AL-ISHLAH SAMPIT TAHUN AJARAN 2023/2024
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Pengelolaan Sarana dan Prasarana di TK IT Al-Ishlah Sampit. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan triangulasi sumber dari Kepala Sekolah di TK, guru kelas di TK, dan orang tua murid TK IT Al-Ishlah Sampit dan dengan triangulasi teknik wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengelolaan sarana dan prasarana di TK IT Al-Ishlah Sampit secara umum sudah dilaksanakan dan semua pihak sekolah berpartisipasi dan bertanggung jawab dalam proses yang dilakukan untuk kemajuan sekolah. THE EFFECT OF USING THE ELSA SPEAK APPLICATION ON STUDENTS' SPEAKING SKILLS AT SMKN 3 PALANGKA RAYA

This study investigates the impact of ELSA Speak at SMKN 3 Palangka Raya on students' speaking ability in English. By focusing on this particular context, this study seeks to uncover how a technology-supported language learning tool such as ELSA Speak can contribute to improving students' confidence and competence in speaking English. This study aims to explore the effect of using the ELSA Speak application on students' speaking Skills at SMKN 3 Palangka Raya. To ensure the research is conducted effectively, a research design is needed as a framework for data collection, measurement, and analysis.
Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 22, following these steps: Statistical Analysis: The researcher analyzed the students' scores to determine the effect of ELSA Speak application on speaking skills. Normality Test: The Shapiro-Wilk test was used to assess the normal distribution of the scores. If the data were normally distributed, the Paired Samples T Test was applied; otherwise, the Wilcoxon Signed-Ranks Test was used. Interpretation of Results: Hypotheses were evaluated based on the level of significance. If the significance value was less than 0.05, the null hypothesis was rejected, indicating a significant effect of the ELSA Speak application. Research Instruments: Test: Tests were used to measure students' ability to ask questions and give opinions, along with a scoring rubric to evaluate performance Validity: The study ensured content validity by aligning the test content with the syllabus and using relevant themes. Construct validity was assessed to ensure that the test measured the intended skills effectively.
The results of the pre-test scores of 33 students, 20 students (60.6%) received a poor classification, 9 students (27.3%) received a sufficient classification, and 4 students (12%) received a good classification. The results of student scores on the post-test showed that there were 4 students (14.1%) with excellent classification, 6 students (18.2%) with very good classification, 15 students (52.4%) with good classification, 7 students (21.2%) with fair classification, and there was only 1 student (3.0%) who had a poor classification. It can be seen that there is a very significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores. In the pre-test, there were 20 students who had a poor classification, then there were no students who had good and very good classifications. While in the post-test there was an increase in scores, there were 4 students who were classified as good, and the classification was reduced to 1 student. The result of Sig. (2-tailed) results are at 0.000 which indicates that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) can be accepted and the null hypothesis is rejected. From the results of the research and also the topic of discussion, it can be concluded that the ELSA Speak application can improve English speaking skills in class XI students of SMKN 3 Palangka Raya
