Ambient intelligence and intelligent environments for managers’ work support
One of the most developed and evolving areas promising for the future, which is already recently a subject of intensive research, seems to be the area of ambient intelligence. We present some recent results and contemplations about how this area could be exploited also for creating intelligent environments capable of managerial work support. Besides some general discussion we present also some of our views on the privacy concept which seems to be especially delicate in relation to the intelligent environments concept. Some notes about possible positive social acceptance of this phenomenon are concluding this work.
Foreign direct investments and domestic investments in Romania in the economic crisis period
Investments represent one of the most important factors of the economic growth as well as of the exit from crisis and economic re-launching. The paper analyses the investments evolution (foreign and domestic) in Romania under the crisis circumstances, taking into account the main factors of influence. Based on the analysis of Romania’s investment process, in the period 2005-2010, several proposals are made aiming at the improvement of investment mechanisms and their sources of funding, including the increase in Romania’s absorption capacity of EU structural and cohesion funds in the period 2007-2013.

The state and the economic recovery
World economy undergoes the century’s most serious crisis. At the same time, worldwide population is facing the food and energy crises, the climate change, poverty and a strong economic outlook uncertainty. Several developed countries feel the recession effects, while developing countries record lower development assistance levels. This trend may impact considerably those vulnerable and marginalized groups, especially women (according to the World Bank’s programmes). On this background, the state must have an active role; the decisions to be further made by the European leaders at micro and macroeconomic level will affect the worldwide population.
From cooperation to globalization
Globalization is seen as a consequence of cross-border business. This complex and irreversible process can be seen as an extension of capitalist relations of production or increased interdependence in the economic system. Globalization has given rise to more and more fields of activity worldwide. To meet the challenges of business globalization, many companies form strategic alliances, cooperate or merge with other companies. Cooperation is seen by many companies as an alternative path to success. In recent years joint international associations, licensing, co-production agreements, joint research programs, exploration of consortia and other cooperative relationships between two or more corporations with potential have increased. We notice a cooperation tendency among small-sized companies, especially among those from the developing countries.
Mobile agent location management in global networks
Mobility management is a necessity in highly dynamic and large-scale Mobile Agents (MAs) networks, especially in a multi-region environment in order to control and communicate with agents after launching. Existing mechanisms for locating MAs are not efficient as these do not consider the effect of location updates on migration time and produce network overload. This paper presents a hierarchical model for location management of MAs in global networks. Three protocols are developed, namely search, update and search-update. The location management technique uses one combination of search, update and search-update protocols throughout execution. Three cases are considered for Update and Search-Update Protocols. Thus, nine combinations of location management protocols are generated, from which an agent can dynamically select one as per requirement, to communicate with other agents on the global network. We have implemented these protocols on the system developed at IIT Roorkee, to evaluate the performance. Results indicate that overhead generated by these protocols does not affect the actual agent response and migration time[1].
Leader and leadership in international companies
Within the actual global economy context, competition will be complex, challenging and full of competitive opportunities and threats. Effective leadership practices can help international corporations improve performance while competing in turbulent and unpredictable environments. Leadership has been defined in many different ways, but most definitions share the assumption that it involves an influence process focused on facilitating the performance of a collective task.
Dimensions of the company’s efficiency
The synthetic concept of business activity assessment, effectiveness circumscribe their theoretical and practical, a multi-dimensional configuration, which gives supportive and evaluative irrelevant in the field of business. In this sense, can be highlighted five dimensional coordinates business efficiency, coordinated, from different perspectives, trying to capture the synergy of effort and effect involved in the definition of efficiency.Multidimensional approach in four dimensions will be formalized through an array of dimensional coordinates of efficiency, which would allow revealing co-determinations of the defining elements of efficiency, both of those characteristics, their effort and effect, and synthesis of the characteristic of interaction between them.Business efficiency, in its essence and wholeness, integrative evaluative dimension is placed in a network of co-determination and interactions, at least, highlighted dimensional coordinates, measure the effectiveness and could only be realized through a system of interrelated indicators, each revealing a dimensional aspects relevant in a given evaluative context.
How multiculturalism impacts management process within international corporations
International business conflicts take place when one part sends a message in accordance with a specific culture, while the other part decodes the message considering another set of values, corresponding to their own culture. This situation is present because the particularities of other cultures are not known. Very often, the fact that people belonging to other cultures are different is ignored, through their religion, statute, decisions they take, attitude towards time and nonverbal language. Therefore, the essential element in taking decisions in the international business environment for the corporations that are involved in a global competition is the adjustment of management methods and techniques into the specific cultural space where they operate
Currencies analysis based on stability using apriori-algorithm
This paper presents the stability of currency that is more stable with respect to other currencies. Various currencies are studied and graphs are plotted with reference to dates on a yearly basis and analyze its patterns. The stability of a currency was determined by using Apriori-algorithm. This algorithm maneuver in continues manner unless the desired results are achieved.
