A PEDAGOGICAL PERSPECTIVE ANALYSIS OF TURKISH GENERATION Z UNIVERSITY STUDENTS' VIEWS ON VIRTUAL ECOLOGIES AND AVATAR AS SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS AND SELF-PRESENTATION
This study aims to analyze the views of Turkish Generation Z higher education students with metaverse experience on virtual-digital ecologies, self-consciousness, virtual sense of self, and avatar. Conducted on 389 students studying at Fırat University, this study is based on a descriptive survey design. The research data collected with the survey developed in line with the methodology were analyzed using the licensed SPSS package program of Fırat University. While doing analyses, the researchers drew upon frequency and percentage, which are diagnostic statistical techniques, as well as the Chi-square test. The results obtained from the analyses are as follows: Turkish Generation Z higher education students partially differ from their global peers in terms of self-consciousness. Self-consciousness and the virtual sense of self of Turkish Generation Z higher education students are associated with reality-virtuality oscillation. These students view the avatar as an ideal profile self-presentation rather than a substitute for their real self. The following considerations were revealed based on the results: It can be envisaged that depending on the proliferation of the virtual-digital revolution on a global scale, the massiveness of the virtuality phenomenon is likely to increase in the self-formation of Turkish Generation Z higher education students. The fact that the individual's self-consciousness and self-development are associated with the purpose, design, and practices of education requires Turkey to be ready for virtual-digital ecologies in education, at least as a contemporary complement to existing face-to-face education for now
REGULATORY EFFECT OF GENDER AND EDUCATION DEPARTMENT STATUS ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INCLUSIVE EDUCATION AWARENESS AND SELF-EFFICACY
Inclusive education is based on the idea that all individuals—regardless of individual characteristics and differences—should have access to education, a fundamental right granted to all. This study examines the relationship between pre-service teachers’ inclusive education awareness and self-efficacy and the impact of different variables that may affect this relationship. For this purpose, the Awareness Scale for Inclusive Education and the Teachers’ Self-Efficacy Perception of Inclusive Education Scale were used as data collection tools. The study was conducted through a correlational survey design to understand the relationship between pre-service teachers’ Awareness of Inclusive Education scores and Teacher’s Self-Efficacy Perception of Inclusive Education scores and determine the regulatory effect of gender and the departments in which the teachers studied on this relationship. The study sample included 360 pre-service teachers who completed the Special Education and Inclusion course. Data were analyzed using SPSS 24.0 and the Process Macro plugin. The results show a significant relationship between pre-service teachers’ awareness of inclusive education and self-efficacy perceptions. Results also indicate that while the regulatory effect of gender on the relationship between pre-service teachers’ inclusive education awareness and self-efficacy perceptions was not significant, the regulatory effect of the department they belonged to was substantial

THE REGIONAL DISTRIBUTION OF ACADEMIC STAFF AT MUSIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENTS IN TURKEY: COMPARISON OF 2016 AND 2023
The quantitative and qualitative qualification of the academic staff at Music Education Departments (MED) has a great importance in reaching the determined goals of the education-training process. The first aim of the research is to determine the qualitative and quantitative qualification status of the academic staff of MEDs within the scope of 2023, and the second aim is to determine the positive or negative changes by comparing the years 2016 and 2023. It was foreseen that the awareness to be created by the results would contribute to the training of qualified music educators and to the more qualified service of these departments.
As a result of the research in which the descriptive method was preferred in the survey model, it was determined that the total number of MED academic staff in Turkey decreased from 436 in 2016 to 409 in 2023, and the total number of students, which was 4004 in 2016, decreased to 3080 students in 2023. The significant decrease in the number of students was seen as the main factor of the decrease in the average number of students per academician from 9.51 in 2016 to 7.7 in 2023. One of the factors in the decrease in the number of students was the application of the 800 thousandth success order prerequisite in the Special Talent Exams. It was also concluded that the strongest region in terms of the numerical distribution of the academic staff to the regions was the Central Anatolia in 2016 and 2023, and the weakest region was the Southeastern Anatolia in 2016 and 2023
METAPHORICAL PERCEPTIONS OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS ABOUT RECYCLING
The aim of this study was to investigate the metaphorical perceptions of secondary school students about recycling. The sample group of the study consisted of 120 7th- and 8th-grade students studying in a public school in the fall semester of the 2022–2023 academic year. Of this sample group, 54 (45%) were male and 66 (55%) were female. With the questionnaire prepared on the form, “Recycling is like...........” and “Because...........” two-stage open-ended questions were asked to the students. In the first stage, they were asked to create a metaphor with a word about what they liken recycling to, and in the second stage, they were asked to explain their reasons in detail: “Because.........”. Phenomenology was used as the research design. Content analysis in the qualitative analysis section was used to analyze the data. In addition, the demographic information of the students; gender, mother’s and father’s graduation status, how many hours they read books daily, how many hours they watch television daily, and their daily phone and tablet usage times were descriptively stated. At the end of the study, it was concluded that the students were very interested and enthusiastic about recycling. It was understood that recycling awareness and sensitivity can be created in students by evaluating these tendencies. In order to evaluate students’ interest in recycling, it is recommended to focus on more specific studies on recycling, carry out club and course activities, give students tasks that will create recycling awareness, and organize competitions.
