    A Study on the Use of Mixed Language in Teaching English at Hospitality Management Class

    Learning English as a foreign language required some strategies to achieve the goal of communication. In teaching and learning process, the teacher and students frequently use their first language to explain the difficult word in English. This study aimed to investigate the language used by the teacher as communication strategies in teaching English as a foreign language and students’ responses toward the use of each type of language instruction in teaching English at Hospitality class. To investigate the study there were 2 teachers and 2 classes of hospitality management class as the subject. The data were collected through observation of teaching and learning process and interview session. The study was designed as descriptive qualitative research and the data were analyzed descriptively. The finding showed that the teacher used the target language frequently, however the used of mixed language to explain some difficult words also found in teaching and learning process.

    This study aims to determine the process of implementing women's empowerment through the Business to Increase Family Income program in the industrial era 4.0, as well as to find out the impact of implementing the Family Income Increase Business program on improving family welfare. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach, and through data collection by interview, further analysis was carried out descriptively. The results show that the role of women's empowerment in Tibubeneng Village is in accordance with their understanding, namely the process of obtaining power, strength or ability, and / or giving power, strength or ability from parties who have power to those who are less or powerless. Impact of Women's Empowerment through Family Income Improvement Business Program in Tibubeneng Village, women that have joined Family Empowerment and Welfare Institution and then they are involved in this business unit; they feel very good, effective and helpful not only for women's empowerment institutions in Tibubeneng Village but also personally. This can be seen from the increase in program activities that can be carried out and the addition of training members every year.

    This study is examining the implementation of CHSE program at Courtyard Hotel by Marriott Bali Nusa Dua Resort. CHSE certification program is issued by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, aimed to guarantee hygiene, health, safety and environmental sustainability for the products and services provided to tourists. This study is aimed at determining to what extend the Courtyard Hotel by Marriott Bali Nusa Dua Resort implemented CHSE protocol. This study was conducted using descriptive quantitative method with data collection techniques through observation and interviews as well as literature study. The findings were then analyzed using the theory of negotiation. The result indicated that the implementation of the CHSE protocols in training was successful. However, some improvements are still needed concerning the employee discipline, the hotel management’s readiness, and the standard operating procedure (SOP); as an attempt to convince potential tourists to visit and to stay at the hotel.

    Currently, digital marketing, known as social media, is widely used as a promotional medium for business people. The growth in the number of social media users today is also seen as an opportunity to take advantage of social media. It can be seen that the purpose of this study is to determine the strategy of using social media, using social media Instagram in Denpasar City. This research focuses on social media marketing which is applied to the ML Gadgets Bali store which is a quality second gadget store in the city of Denpasar. Using a qualitative approach, with a descriptive analysis, this research collects data through interviews, observations, and documentation which are then analyzed using the SWOT analysis technique comparing internal and external factors to determine the IE Matrix with the SWOT Matrix for strategy determination. The results showed that social media marketing for ML Gadgets Bali is in quadrant 1 in the SWOT Matrix, and cell 5 in the IE Matrix. The right strategy is to support aggressive strategies and growth strategies, namely market penetration, increasing sales and profits, and increasing the effectiveness of marketing on social media

    Identifying the important attributes of a product or service are crucial activities for marketing purposes. The objectives of this research are two folds. First, to identify the important attributes of Hotel Management study Program ( hereafter MPH) offered to students in the pandemic era of COVID 19. Second, based on these research findings the Manajement of International Tourism and Business Institute (hereafter ITBI) has a basis to strengthen these attributes for marketing purposes of MPH study program. To achieve those objectives primary data would be colleted with students of MPH study program semester 1 and  7 as respondents. Prior to distributing questionnaires to students a discussion with the Management of ITBI conducted in an effort to identify important attributes of MPH study program. To achieve the most enhance attributes of MPH study program conjoint analysis would be applied. This study found that overseas on the job training was the most preferred attribute of MPH study program followed by practical facilities quality

    Revitalizing Local Economy Through Village Tourism: Case Study of Dusun Gojang Utara, Selayar Islands, South Sulawesi, Indonesia

    The study was done in March 2020 in Dusun Gojang Utara, Bontomarannu Village, Bontomanai Sub-district, Selayar Islands District, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, aiming at exploring the opportunity and feasibility of “Kenari Forest” as a tourist attraction. A descriptive-status approach was used in this study that was sought to answer questions about real-life situations, and in addition, the scoring of potential tourism object/attraction utilized the 2003 ADO-ODTWA Guideline. Overall, Dusun Gojang Utara has a high potency as a community-based tourism destination, although there are four criteria needed improvement, nanely: accessibility, surrounding conditions, management and services, and climate. Unfortunately, Dusun Gojang Utara as a tourist village is yet to be the priority of the local government,. Indeed, as part of the Bontomarannu Village, this dusun is included as an agro-tourism development area, but the potential of this dusun is not for agro-tourism, instead its tourism attraction resides in the local livelihood itself

    Generation Z Awareness on Food Waste Issues (a Study in Tangerang, Indonesia)

    With resources becoming scarcer, waste of food is something to be avoided. Food waste must be minimized by using various ways to avoid waste in terms of food loss and food waste. In Indonesia itself, without realizing it, the issue of leftover food becomes very big. According to the Head of Representative of the United Nations Food Agency (FAO), Mark Smulders, of the approximately 1.3 trillion tons of food that was lost or wasted, Indonesia contributed around 13 million tons of food waste (food loss and food waste). This study will explore Generation Z's level of awareness of leftover food in Indonesia, especially in the Tangerang and surrounding areas. This research is exploratory in nature. The method is used to research something (which attracts attention) that is not yet known, not understood, or not well recognized. The date is collected using questionnaire that were distributed to respondents, namely Generation Z in Tangerang and its surrounding areas. From the results of data processing and tests carried out in this study, it can be concluded that the current awareness of Generation Z on the issue of leftover food must be raised, because the issue of leftover food itself is one of the issues of environmental preservation. The level of awareness of the issue of leftover food from Generation Z as the next generation must be increased, because only less than half of respondents are aware of this issue of leftovers

    Agro-tourism in Lebakmuncang Village has a selling value in the form of natural potential, agriculture, arts, crafts, and traditional culinary processing typical of the village. This agro-tourism has the potential of a sustainable tourism object. The purpose of this research is to measure the performance of agro-tourism from the perspective of naturalness, uniqueness, workforce involvement, land-use optimization, area arrangement, and education. The research design used is descriptive quantitative with a survey method. Collecting data using observation, questionnaires, interviews, and literature studies. The research data were analyzed using descriptive analysis with a Likert scale. The results showed that agro-tourism performance on naturalness was in the very good category. Meanwhile, the performance of agro-tourism towards uniqueness, the involvement of labor, optimization of land use, zoning, and education are categorized as good

    The impact of the events on the improvement of community economy in the waterfront area sambas

    Tourism activities in Indonesia are currently the focus of attention of the central and regional governments as one of the sectors that play a very important role in the regional development. Seeing the development of tourism trends in recent years, the local government, especially the Disparpora of Sambas Regency continues to carry out various programs to improve tourism performance, among others by organizing the Bidar Sampan Competition that is held annually and becomes a national cultural event. This study used a quantitative descriptive method. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews. The results of the questionnaire were analyzed using SPSS 20. The variable of tourism event has no effect and is not significant for improving the community’s economy. This can be seen from the significant of 0.122, which is greater than the significance level (0.05). The tcount was 1.595, is smaller than the ttable (2.04841), with the regression coefficient of 0.446. Tourism events impact on people’s income. Before the tourism was held, the community’s income level was relatively moderate. After the tourism event, people’s income has increased, while after the event, the income of the community returned to normal
