THE IDEOLOGIES THAT AFFECT THE MANAGEMENT OF NUSA DUA TOURISM RESORT, BALI
The Management of Nusa Dua Tourism Resort couldn’t be separated from macro social and political developments at the national level and the micro at the regional level. The stakeholder power relations between the three pillars of the government (BTDC), investors, and the society in the management of this resort is influenced by external factors, is the globalization that its development. This study focused on analyzing and answering what ideology is affecting the management of this resort. It is expected to give a theoretical benefit in the development and management of tourist resorts, particularly efforts to understand conceptually the relationship between governments, investors, and local communities in this resort. The study was designed as a qualitative research by using phenomenology approach. Results of this study indicated that the management of this resort not only determined by the business management matters but also by the social and political situation and by global and others tourism related ideologies. Social and political change and demands by these ideologies force all three pillars in these management activities to wisely exercising their power in relation of each other for the benefit of all parties and assurance of the sustainability of the resort
THE EFFECT OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON THE BRAND AWARENESS AT HOTELS IN KUTA AREA
Social media is a phenomenon in the last few years that has drawn a lot of attention both to companies and individuals interacting on the networking landscape. Social media has changed the traditional communication between brands and consumers and enabled consumer to make positive as well as negative influence on brand awareness. Many business actor use these social media as a tool to promote their products and make customers aware with their brand. On the other hand, not all that business actors success to market their products and convince the customers. Therefore, it is important for the hotel to know, how to manage communicate in social media seeking to build the brand awareness and positive image for brand. The essence of this study is to research how some hotel can seize the moment of using social media networks to increase brand awareness and brand image. In recent days, social media has taken new forms which have more advantages over the traditional mediums like print media, TV and radio. Marketing communication is becoming precise, personal, interesting, interactive and social. Awareness which include both of recall and recognition become the first step for any move toward a successful market strategy. The Main purpose of this study is to show the role of social media on the brand awareness .The study finding can be used by the hotels to increasing brand awareness through social media. The result of this research is to show that marketing communication (social media ) in a company has an impact to company’s brand awareness. The summary of this research is to get significant information about the effect of social media toward company’s brand awareness through quantitative research method due to the rising of social media
BLEBERAN TOURIST VILLAGE OF GUNUNG KIDUL: COMPONENT ANALYSIS OF ITS ATTRACTION, PRODUCT, MANAGEMENT AND MARKETING
The need to live naturally with the principal of ‘going back to nature’ has resulted in development of new tourist attraction: the tourist village. Village potentials such as varied natural attractions, friendly local people, unspoiled natural setting and fresh air are among attractions for the tourists. This research is aimed primarily at revealing tourist attraction elements of the products, the management, the product itself and its marketing in Bleberan Tourist Village of Playen, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. The primary data cover all activities from its launching in 2009 to the end of 2015, in which its development could be seen clearly. The theoretical approach applied in this research is tourist attraction component theory on the product, its management and marketing.
THE WAITER AT PRINCESS REATAURANT ALWAYS RESPECTS HIS GUESTS “AS A KING” TO WINNING RESTAURANT BUSINESS IN ASEAN ECONOMY COMMUNITY (AEC) ERA
Nowadays is said to be Asean Economy Community (AEC) era. The competition on getting a job in Asean especially in Bali are getting hard and so does in restaurant business competition is getting tighter and tighter. How to winning it ? The answer by Princess Restaurant’s management is “Always respects his guests as “A KING” in Asean Economy Community (AEC) era.This research is aimed to know the daily duties of waiters at Princess Restaurant if they have a specific tricks to winning restaurant business in Asean Economy Community Era.Data of this research are obtained from informants who knows the object of the research such as The Princess Restaurant Manager, Resaturant Captains, Restaurant waiters and bus boys. After that, the data are analyzed descriptively by explaining in detail the data which has been collected to get a clearer understanding.The result of this research showed that the daily duties of waiters at Princess Restaurant always respects his guest as “A KING” in order to winning restaurant business in AEC era.That smart technics by waiters at Princess Restaurant could make most guest who enjoy food and drinks at Princess Restaurant feel happy and satisfied and finally could attract the guest to come again frequently as repeater guests.This waiter’s smart ways, could offer great satisfaction and nice experiences to all guests, and finally could give a positive contribution to economy, social and prosperous happiness to local people who works there
Developing Jamu-Based Educational Tourism in Kiringan Hamlet, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta
oai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/1Kiringan Hamlet, located in Bantul Regency, is the only jamu-producing hamlet in Yogyakarta. The hamlet produces jamu (traditional herbal medicine) and sells the products traditionally. Almost a half of the hamlet’s population have skill to make jamu. Based on this fact, the hamlet’s existence gives hope for further development as an alternative tourist destination, especially in Yogyakarta.Therefore, this study was aimed at identifying the tourism potential in Kiringan Hamlet as well as processing it as a strategy for tourism development. This study was a descriptive study so that the data in this study was obtained by conducting interviews with local community, village officials, and tourism office staffs, field observation and literature study. The SWOT analysis results suggested that Kiringan Hamlet deserved quite high potential for serving as a jamu-based educational tourism site.Based on this quite high development potential, this paper then proposed the tourism development plan to be executed by the existing stakeholders so that this study could have significant implications for the efforts to develop tourism in the hamlet
The Relevance of Foreign Language Teaching Materials in High School (SMA) to Cultural Preservation and Tourism Development in Tabanan District
Bali is one of a very famous tourist destination in the world. Many things can be developed as tourism objects in each district in Bali. One of them is Tabanan regency that offers some choices to visit, which is very famous for its natural beauty attractions. Tourism in Tabanan can be developed by strengthening the human resources that involved in it, which can be through the teaching of foreign languages, such as English that is generally given at school. However, the issue may arise whether foreign language teaching is able to support the attitudes to preserve the culture and able to develop tourism in Tabanan. Therefore this study was held to address issues intended to see the relevance of learning foreign language in Senior high school with cultural preservation and development of tourism in Tabanan. The research method used is descriptive with multiple-case study sites. The results show that the teachers have done their job in teaching using materials that are recommended by the curriculum, but the impact of the preservation and development of tourism in Tabanan is still quite low, which is caused by the material used is less related to the cultural preservation and tourism development. Therefore it is advisable to make some changes in the teaching of foreign language in the future
Students’ Readiness to Enter Tourism Industry
Sahid Institute of Tourism is one of the higher educations that facilitate scholarship program for students from Eastern part of Indonesia. It has more than 150 students from NTT, Papua, Gorontalo, and Ternate. At the end of their bachelor study, the students are expected to operate well in tourism industry. This research is a pilot study to investigate students’ perception on their readiness to enter tourism industry and to find out whether there is significant difference in the perception. A sample of 15 students are taken out of 76 Nusa Tenggara Timur students who are about to graduate. The sample is taken using random sampling method. A questionnaire is carried out to obtain primary data. The questionnaire consists of two parts; profile of the respondent and perception on their readiness to enter tourism industry. Six components of employability skills included. Overall students perceive that they are ready to enter tourism industry. The respondents perceive that they are ready in problem solving, independent learning, use of technology, and teamwork. They feel almost ready in use of foreign language and planning-organizing. It is found out there is no significant difference in their perception in terms of study program and gender. It is suggested that further investigation is needed
Quality of Life (QOL) of Balinese Women Working in Spa Tourism Industry
Bali is one of spa tourist destinations having various categories of spas and spa treatments, and the most important is the spa therapists. Spa development becomes an interesting phenomenon to be studied when it is associated with an involvement of Balinese women as spa therapists in foreign countries. The world’s demand for Balinese spa therapists has become the motivation of women to work in this area. The work and life of Balinese spa therapists while they are working in foreign countries serve as parameters to know their quality of life, and these parameters are also the main focus of this study. Through in-depth interviews and questionnaires distributed to 20 therapists it was found out that 85 percent of them have revealed an improvement in their quality of life that is influenced by two factors: the material and intimacy factors. The material factor in question refers to the economic improvement of the family as they could earn enough income to cover their family needs. The intimacy factor in question refers to closeness and a sense of solidarity fostered while they are working abroad and the relationship within the family. This study concludes that the most important part of the development of spa in Bali is its female Balinese spa therapists due to the image that Balinese women working as spa therapists are loyal, hard-working and honest making them in demand among tourists who are seeking spa treatments. Being a spa therapist can improve their quality of life, which means that subjectively both material and intimacy factors are the aspects that affect the quality of life of the Balinese spa therapists
The Impact of Logo Design Towards Customer’s Brand Image Perception: A Research of Logo Shapes And Colors in The Hotel Industry
Brand image is how a brand perceived by the customer. The brand image perception shaped by certain attributes of the company that has been delivered through Corporate Visual Identity (CVI). CVI is a visible elements of a brand, often regarded as one aspect that creates company’s image through logo or symbol. The purpose of this research was to determine the significant impact between shapes and colors used in logo design and customers’ brand perception in hotel industry. This research was done with quantitative method where the data was primarily collected through distributing the questionnaires. The data collecting process involves 100 respondents who reside in the Greater Jakarta Area. Multiple regression analysis in SPSS version 21.0 was used to analyze the data. The result of this research showed that both shapes and colors used in the logo have strong impact on how brand image perceived by the customers. Shapes of the logo influence the brand image perception with a percentage of 92.5%, while colors affect the brand image perception with a percentage of 92.4%. Based on the result, it can be concluded that applying certain shapes and colors in the logo design can help hotel industry to enhance the desired brand image and create a strong brand positioning in the market.
