EXPLORATION OF HEALTHY AGEING DETERMINANTS IN BALTIC STATES
According to the WHO, healthy ageing is characterized by such interrelated determinants as intrinsic capacity, functional ability and environment. An individual\u27s intrinsic capacity is a powerful predictor of the future ageing process and includes 5 areas - cognitive, psychological, sensory, locomotion and vitality. Exploration of these areas can provide necessary information for therapeutic and preventive actions that can be tailored to an individual\u27s needs, priorities and values to support participation and quality of life. The objective of this study was to evaluate and compare healthy ageing determinants of older individuals in the Baltic States. The research was based on the sample of older individuals (50 years and older) from wave 8 of the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) during the period from November 2019 to March 2020. The obtained results indicate a low level/poor results in such determinants as locomotion, sensory, vitality and functional ability (more than 50% of the respondents among the Baltic countries has poor health, various long-term illnesses, limitations in daily activities, suffer from moderate or severe pain, requires help to meet daily needs, etc.), has various behavioral risks, however has higher assessment of cognitive and psychological determinants
PROBLEMS OF RUSSIAN SCHOOL EDUCATION IN PISA CONTEXT
The article based on the research which aim is to clear, how common teaching practices in Russian schools affecting the decline in the results of students when performing tasks of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). The authors of the article try to understand why teachers so often prefer quite old training technologies. In the course of study these problems, members of research team conducted interviews and discussions with school teachers from the Moscow region who were trained in advanced training courses at the Academy of Public Administration. Intensive interaction with teachers helped the authors to draw a conclusion that the avoiding more effective contemporary training technologies is due to certain conditions in which the teacher works. Another conclusion made in the article: teachers fail in teaching students not because they do not have enough knowledge of modern technologies and techniques or because they underestimate the importance of developing critical thinking, anthropological imagination, knowledge of meta-subject connections, the skills to understand texts and work with heterogeneous information, but because they are not ready to accept the changing social role of the school.
CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES IN ADULT EDUCATION IN GREENLAND
Education in Greenland is a central parameter in achieving the long-term goals of the Government in terms of providing the population with the necessary means to take up positions as skilled labour. The research aim is to implement theoretical and empirical analysis of adult education in Greenland underpinning the identification of challenges and opportunities in adult education in Greenland. The empirical study of the exploratory nature was carried out in November-December 2020. Data collection was based on document analysis as well as interview. The obtained data were processed via content analysis. Findings of the theoretical analysis allow defining challenges as externally created problem situations. The structuring content analysis allows identifying challenges and opportunities in adult education in Greenland. The summarizing content analysis reveals that adult education within the educational system in Greenland has not been properly addressed. The empirical findings allow concluding that adult education in Greenland is to be shaped in such a way that it responds to the emergent challenges. The present study has some limitations. The new research question has been formulated: What modern skills (creativity, digital skills, entrepreneurship, languages, etc) do adult learners in Greenland need most? Future research will focus the extension of the dataset.
DEVELOPMENT AND INITIAL VALIDATION OF THE STRESS SYMPTOMS SCALE
The aim of this study is to develop and to perform an initial validation of the Latvian and Russian version of the Stress Symptoms Scale. A preliminary version of the scale (k = 65) were administrated to the test development sample as an on-line survey. Additionally participants (N = 272, aged from 19 to 68, M = 37.2, SD = 11.6, 13% male) filled in the Latvian or Russian version of the Perceived Stress Scale-4 (PSS-4), and responded using 10-point scale on two criterion questions about the frequency and intensity of the experienced stress during the last two weeks. Information of their age, gender and education level were collected as well. Based on performed psychometric analysis a final version of the SSS was developed. It consists of 56 items, which can be combined into four scales: 1) Impaired functioning of cognitive processes; 2) Psychological symptoms of stress; 3) Physical symptoms of stress; 4) Emotional symptoms of stress. Based on Exploratory and Confirmatory factor analysis a four-factor solution is preferable. Both versions (LV and RUS) of the scale show excellent internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha ranged from .92 to .98). Concurrent validity of the SSS was approved by high correlation with criterion-measures. Both versions of the SSS show acceptable to excellent psychometric properties and can be used by psychologists and other mental health professional for the better understanding of individual’s stress reactions and for a reliable evaluation of stress level based on the set of stress symptoms.
USE OF THE INFORMATION SYSTEM RESEARC IN A HEALTHCARE INSTITUTION
The author of the study studies the functional adequacy of information systems in a healthcare company SIA "Preiļu slimnīca". By studying both information systems integrated in the company, the author has compared both systems, as a result of which he has developed proposals for improving the sustainable development of the systems
RESEARCH OF POSSIBILITIES OF LASER POLISHING OF THE SURFACE OF ALUMINUM
The report considers the possibility of reducing the roughness after laser polishing of Aluminum plates. A CHANXAN CX-20G fiber laser with a wavelength of 1064 nm is used for the research. As a result of the experiment, 4 matrices were marked with a fiber laser on 3 samples for each series of the experiment. Then, using a multifunctional microscope, the roughness of the treated and untreated aluminum surface was measured. At the end of the research, conclusions were made about the changes in roughness in the course of this experiment
INFLUENCE OF LASER PARAMETERS ON THE PROCESSING OF ACRYLIC
The publication describes the obtained results of the depth and width of the engraving line and cutting line when processing materials such as acrylic. In the experiment, we used a SUNTOP ST-CC9060 CO2 laser and an OLYMPUS OLS5000 laser microscope. The aim of the experiment was to find parameters for optimal cutting and many parameters for different engraving depths
SMART HOUSE OPPORTUNITIES IN PRESENT
The author performed an analysis why testing is important for e-commerce application. The work contains basic information about testing, software development and e-commerce
LATGALES CERAMIC ENGRAVING WITH CO2 LASER
The paper discusses the need for a more accurate understanding of the results for certain laser parameters when engraving a material such as ceramics. For engraving the SUNTOP ST-CC9060 CO2 laser system was used and for measuring the OLYMPUS OLS5000 laser microscope was used. The objective of the experiments was to determine how engraving depends on the laser power and scanning speed
ANALYSIS OF THE BEHAVIOUR OF VISITORS TO MUNICIPAL WEBSITES AND SOCIAL NETWORK ACCOUNTS
Nowadays, when services of municipalities are available only remote, need for reliable information is constantly increasing- starting with administration office contacts and ending with current COVID-19 restrictions. This flow of information in Latvia is provided by websites and social media accounts of local municipalities. The author\u27s work has explored statistics and user behaviour data of foreign municipalities websites during COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore an survey for Latvia’s municipalities was conducted to find out how COVID-19 pandemic has changed user behaviour and website statistics. As a result, author of the work compared data obtained from surveys and examinated available data from foreign municipalities, which could be used facing further crisis situations
