Augmented reality (AR)-based experimental learning: A solution to overcome boredom with worksheet usage in generation alpha (Gen-A) early childhood
Generation Alpha (Gen-A), who have grown up in the digital era, are more interested in interactive and visual learning. However, traditional methods such as worksheets are considered monotonous, reducing motivation and engagement in learning. This study aims to implement Augmented Reality (AR) based Experimental Learning as an innovative solution to overcome the boredom of Gen-A children with conventional worksheets in Early Childhood Education (ECE). The research gap lies in the lack of exploration of AR in ECE, particularly in Indonesia, as well as the limited studies on the learning needs of early childhood. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with observation, interviews, and document analysis at RA Nurul Ulum. The results show that conventional worksheets are boring and decrease children's learning motivation. These findings emphasize the importance of AR-based and experiential learning innovations that are adaptive to the characteristics of Gen-A, creating a more engaging and effective learning environment
The role of islamic education to address antisocial behaviors in students
This research examines the growing concern of students displaying antisocial behaviors, such as truancy and school suspensions, which stem from their disregard for teachers' advice. The study focuses on two main aspects: the efforts of MTs Muhammadiyah Kasihan in fostering Tawadhu' (humility) among students and the factors influencing its development. Employing qualitative research methods, this study aims to gain a holistic understanding of the experiences of research subjects, including their behaviors, perceptions, motivations, and actions within a natural context. The findings reveal that the madrasah cultivates Tawadhu' through teacher role models, handshaking etiquette, and continuous guidance. The development of Tawadhu' is influenced by various factors, including the family environment, school environment, and community environment. This research underscores the significance of nurturing humility in students as a means to mitigate antisocial behaviors, highlighting the crucial role of teachers and structured guidance in educational institutions. However, the findings are limited to the specific context of MTs Muhammadiyah Kasihan and may not be universally applicable. This study contributes to the understanding of Tawadhu' cultivation and its role in addressing student behavior, emphasizing the importance of teachers and the environment in shaping students' attitudes. The insights provided can inform educational institutions and policymakers in developing strategies to foster positive student behavior
Breaking Language Barriers: Amplifying Arabic Proficiency in Bilingual Environment through Immersive Learning
Arabic language teaching in Indonesia continues to face persistent challenges, particularly in fostering student’s practical and communicative competencies. One promising approach to addres this issue is language immersion, which places learners in environments that simulate native Arabic usage. This article delves into explores the implementation of language immersion in Arabic learning within bilingual environment settings. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis, including syllabi and records of learning activities. The analysis followed the BJOG Perspectives on Qualitative Research framework, encompassing stages of initial coding, thematic categorization, and reflective narrative interpretation. Results demonstrate that language immersion significantly enhances students' Arabic proficiency, particularly in speaking, listening, and active participation. Student exhibited increased confidence in using Arabic not only in formal classroom contexts but also in everyday interactions. These outcomes underscore the importance of sustained language exposure, authentic social interaction, and context-rich learning in second language acquisition. This study offers a novelty contribution by highlighting how language immersion is applied in the distinctive environment of bilingual pesantren, where classroom instruction is integrated with students’ daily routines. The synergy between structured academic activities and natural language use in dormitory life fosters a comprehensive and continuous learning experience. This model, blending formal instruction with informal immersion, remains underexplored in prior research and presents a valuable framework for Arabic language education in similar contexts
Revolutionizing the Governance of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDES): SIABDes Taxion Software to Increase Transparency
Background: This community service initiative inspires a brighter future by enhancing governance and financial transparency of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDES) in Indonesia, specifically BUMDES Patandang Cangkuang Kulon. By fostering innovation and strengthening governance, it empowers rural communities to thrive through improved management practices and technology.
Contribution: The project provides a replicable model for enhancing BUMDES governance through participatory training and digital financial tools.
Method: A participatory approach was used, involving needs assessment, focus group discussions, training sessions, and implementation of the SIABDes Taxion software for accounting and PPh21 tax reporting.
Results: The program involved 27 participants from four BUMDES. Post-training evaluation showed an average post-test score of 82.05% and a participant satisfaction rate of 100%, indicating increased capacity in financial governance and system adoption.
Conclusion: The program addressed key challenges in BUMDES financial governance. Sustained mentoring and adequate resource support remain essential for long-term success
Improving Digital Literacy of Grass Jelly (Cincau) based MSMEs through Digital Marketing and Website Management Training
Background: Grass Jelly Village (Cincau) based Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in Surabaya, Indonesia, has started digitalization by building a website profile to promote their products. However, they need help managing the website and selling their brands since they have lower digital literacy resources, and their website only has a single admin.
Contribution: This community service program contributes to enhancing digital literacy in Grass Jelly Village by providing structured training in digital marketing and website management, aiming to empower local residents in utilizing digital platforms for economic and social development.
Method: The course process involves three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Preparation includes analyzing requirements and designing course materials, followed by practical implementation, and evaluation consists of evaluating the course through feedback and evaluation forms.
Results: Based on the satisfaction survey on digital marketing training received a score of 89.33%, copywriting training received a score of 85%, website training received a score of 90.66%. Then there is a satisfaction survey on the speaker by getting a score of 92%.
Conclusion: The digitalization training for Grass Jelly Village's MSMEs was highly effective, resulting in enhanced digital literacy and improved business practices. The program's long-term sustainability is supported by follow-up strategies, including forming a dedicated digital team and ongoing mentorship
Weaving and Detail Filling of Willow Weaving Frame Based on AI Intelligent Design
Background: Willow weaving is a traditional Chinese handicraft with profound historical and cultural value. However, in the context of modernization, it faces significant challenges including a generational gap in skill inheritance, low production efficiency, limited design innovation, and difficulties in quality control.
Contribution: This study contributes to the revitalization of intangible cultural heritage while enhancing the market relevance of the craft.
Method: The research applied a descriptive qualitative approach using both primary and secondary data. Methods included historical data analysis, AI-assisted design modelling, development of digital learning platforms and VR simulation systems, and the implementation of image recognition technology for quality control.
Results: The integration of AI enabled the generation of innovative design solutions based on trend analysis and consumer preferences. Automation improved production efficiency, and AI image recognition ensured consistent product quality through real-time defect detection. Additionally, the virtual learning system effectively supported the transfer of weaving skills to younger generations.
Conclusion: AI technology plays a vital role in modernizing traditional willow weaving. Its application not only enhances product uniqueness and efficiency but also offers a sustainable strategy for preserving intangible cultural heritage in the digital era
Optimization of Temperature and Time for High-Quality Roasted Barley (Kolo)
The consumption of roasted barley (kolo) is prevalent in all regions of Ethiopia. However, high-temperature heat treatment can result in the formation of acrylamide in roasted starchy foods. Acrylamide can be a health hazard if continuously consumed at high levels. This research contributes to optimize temperature and duration of roasting barley and investigate their impact on acrylamide formation, sensory profile, and nutritional profile of kolo sourced from both street vendors and industrial processors in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Locally produced kolo samples exhibited higher acrylamide contents ranging from 216.60 to 334.80μg/kg, while industrially processed kolo had lower values ranging from 200.28 to 308.95μg/kg. Results indicate that roasting temperature and duration significantly (p<0.05) affected acrylamide levels of kolo. The optimal roasting conditions of 352 ℃ for duration of 2 minutes gave desirability of 0.71. The optimum roasting conditions resulted in kolo with acrylamide of 148.64μg/kg, protein of 11.88%, ash of 3.28%, fat of 2.80%, crude fiber of 14.72%, carbohydrates of 67.35%, lightness (L*) of 57.50%, yellowness (b*) of 33.89%, redness (a*) of 15.52%, taste of 8.35, texture of 8.92, odor of 8.10 and overall sensory acceptability score of 8.18. Roasting barley grains transform them into value-added products and/ or nutritional food ingredients
“I've learned a lot from watching Netflix series with LGBTQ issues in it”: An Audience Study on How Netflix LGBTQ+ Series Expand Perspectives and Cultivate Awareness
This study examines how Indonesian audiences respond to LGBTQ+ narratives in Netflix series such as Feel Good (2020), Heartstopper (2022), and Glamorous (2023) through Stuart Hall's Audience Reception Theory. Employing a qualitative approach with 29 participants, it explores how these series influence viewers' knowledge, and awareness, particularly in relation to cultural and societal norms. The findings indicate that these narratives contribute to audience understanding across five key areas: LGBTQ+ identity and experiences, cultural and societal insights, moral lessons, challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals, and critical perspectives on representation. Additionally, the study identifies four distinct awareness categories: recognizing LGBTQ+ individuals as human beings, understanding their experiences, acknowledging diverse gender identities, and recognizing the media’s role in shaping perceptions. These results suggest that exposure to LGBTQ+ content in streaming media can promote empathy, broaden perspectives, and challenge existing biases. By highlighting the informative and awareness-raising potential of these series, the study underscores the role of media in shaping public discourse and social attitudes toward gender and sexuality, ultimately contributing to a growing recognition of diverse identities within Indonesian society
Teaching pronounciation skills for seventh-grade students using “Inside Out” movie
Pronunciation plays a vital role in English as it directly impacts comprehension during communication. Watching movies can indeed be an alternative medium for improving pronunciation skills. Movies often feature numerous conversations between actors or characters, making it easier to comprehend spoken pronunciation. Moreover, movies can contribute to the practice of proper intonation in real-life contexts by observing how actors or characters pronounce words in different situations, enabling learners to enhance their pronunciation skills and refine their articulation of sounds and vowels. This research aims to find out whether ‘Inside Out’ movie is effective to teach students pronunciation. This type of research is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental research approach. The instruments used for this study were pre-test and post-test with a sample of 60 seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Imogiri Bantul. The pre-test and post-test were carried out to measure whether there was an effect before and after being given treatment. To analyze the data, the researcher used IBM SPSS 22. The study showed that watching ‘Inside Out’ movie is considered effective for teaching pronunciation because the significance value of the paired sample test experimental class showed 0.006, where if the result < 0.05 Ha is accepted while H0 is rejected
The relationship between the frequency of cleaning facial skin and the incidence of acne vulgaris
Acne Vulgaris is a skin infection experienced by almost the entire population in the world. Global Burden of Disease (GBD) in his research, acne vulgaris occurs in around 85% of young to adult individuals aged 12 to 25 years. The main aim of this research is to determine the relationship between frequency of facial cleaning and acne vulgaris in Ahmad Dahlan University Medical Students Class of 2022. This research uses an analytical observational approach with a cross-sectional study approach. Specialist doctors in the field of dermatology examined samples of 94 students to identify acne vulgaris, after tabulation of samples that could be processed as many as 80 student samples. Frequency of facial cleaning was related to facial cleaning behavior as measured using a questionnaire. Demographic data, characteristics of acne vulgaris and frequency of facial cleansing were reported. Data processing uses univariate analysis and bivariate chi-square analysis. Hypothesis testing using the chi-square test with a confidence level of 95% obtained a p-value of 0.000 which is smaller than the significance of 0.05. The frequency of cleaning your face will reduce the occurrence of acne vulgaris or be a treatment to prevent acne vulgaris from occurring. The recommended frequency is 2-3x a day, it doesn't need to be more than 5x a day, because this can cause facial irritation and ultimately acne vulgaris
