    No full text
This study examines the determinants of Indonesia’s seaweed exports to several destination countries, including Chile, China, Denmark, Japan, Spain, and the United States, using panel data regression analysis. The results reveal that export volume is influenced by various factors, such as import prices, population size, per capita income of the importing countries, and non-tariff measures, specifically Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) standards and Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT). Import prices, GDP per capita, and the implementation of SPS and TBT measures are found to negatively affect Indonesia’s seaweed export volume. In contrast, population growth in the importing countries has a positive and significant impact. Key challenges hindering Indonesia’s seaweed exports include stringent SPS requirements, food safety regulations, and product rejections due to contamination and non-compliance with import standards. To enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian seaweed in the global market, it is essential to improve product quality, ensure compliance with international standards, foster technological innovation, and provide targeted support to exporters.

The Indonesian wood furniture industry is a significant contributor to the non-oil and gas sector of the economy. Manufacturers are responsible for meeting not only domestic demands but also the needs of the international market. Nevertheless, Indonesia's status as a global exporter remains comparatively inferior to that of China and Vietnam. This study aimed to assess the comparative and competitive advantages of Indonesian wooden furniture globally. Employing a time series analysis spanning 21 years (2001-2022), the research utilized the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) method and Porter’s Diamond Model to assess these advantages. The results of the study indicate that RCA analysis consistenly showed values greater than one. However, the study also identified fluctuations in RCA during the period of 2007-2011. Furthermore, the application of Porter’s Diamond Model revealed that Indonesia’s abundant natural resources, skilled labor force, and supportive industrial ecosystem are key factors contributing to its competitive position. Nevertheless, the analysis highlighted the need for continued investment in capital, particularly in terms of technology and infrastructure, to sustain and echance this competitive advantage

Farm roads are essential infrastructure that support agricultural business activities by improving access and transportation efficiency. This research aims to assess the impact of farm roads on agricultural productivity and to explore the related challenges and opportunities in Banjarnegara Regency. The study employs both primary and secondary data, with primary data collected through survey methods. Respondents were rice farmers from eight sub-districts in Banjarnegara Regency, providing diverse insights into local farming conditions. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The findings reveal a significant difference in farmer productivity prior to and following the construction of Farm Roads. The majority of respondents (60.34 percent) experienced an increase in productivity, indicating the presence of farm roads in Banjarnegara Regency has a beneficial effect on the local agricultural community. However, 13.79 percent of respondents reported a decline in productivity, while 25.87 percent had no change in productivity. The challenges and potential related to Farm Roads in the surveyed areas are largely representative of those in other areas of Banjarnegara Regency. This issue warrants attention from relevant local government agencies, as adequate Farm Roads are essential for farmers. These roads are not only vital for accessing farmland but also for transporting agricultural inputs and harvests. Improved access and transportation can significantly enhance agricultural productivity in Banjarnegara Regency.

Dewi Sri Market, located at Batubulan Terminal, Sukawati District, Gianyar, Bali, is one of the island’s tourist destinations, offering a unique shopping experience with diverse culinary choices, performances, clothing, and entertainment for children, commonly known as Pasar Malam Batubulan. This study aims to identify the attributes considered important by the public regarding Pasar Malam Batubulan, measure the levels of importance and satisfaction related to service quality, and formulate strategies to improve service quality. The analysis employs Quality Function Deployment (QFD), with variables derived from the five service quality dimensions: tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. Based on the QFD analysis, the attribute with the highest importance value was the tangibles dimension, specifically toilet facilities (4.83), followed by vendor politeness (4.82), cleanliness and comfort of the market area (4.80), vendor friendliness (4.80), parking availability (4.79), and lighting quality (4.78). Other attributes that were rated highly included vendor product knowledge (4.68), service responsiveness (4.66), price-to-portion fairness (4.66), and market layout (4.64). However, satisfaction scores revealed a considerable gap, with salesperson friendliness receiving the highest score (4.05) and toilet facilities scoring the lowest (3.42), highlighting critical gaps in service quality. Based on respondent characteristics, the recommended strategies include introducing digital payment systems such as QRIS or digital wallets. Sustained capacity building for merchants, along with regular evaluations, is considered essential to measure the long-term impact of these initiatives and to assess their readiness for digital transformation. These findings underscore that enhancing basic facilities and adopting digital payment systems are strategic measures to improve customer satisfaction and align traditional markets with the evolving demands of the digital era

Each fruit has a distinct nutritional composition physicochemical characteristics, creating specific ecological niches for microbial growth. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first to report the isolation and phenotypic characterisation of native LAB from matoa fruit, thereby providing baseline mircrobiological data for this underexplored fruit matrix. This research aims to isolate and characterise native LAB from matoa. The Matoa sample was inoculated into de Man-Rogosa-Sharpe (MRS) Broth and isolated using the streak plate method. The isolate was then characterised based on its morphological, physiological, and biochemical characteristics. Results shows that isolated LAB exhibit cream-coloured, circular colony morphology with clear edges, convex elevation, an opaque internal structure, and varying colony sizes. Cellular characteristics of the isolate included rod-shaped morphology, Gram-positive staining, non-catalase activity, and non-motility. The isolate survived at pH 5 and 6, 6.5% salt content, and at 25°C, 37°C, and 45°C. the The isolate also fermented glucose, sucrose, maltose, fructose, and galactose, and also did not produce H2S or indole. The LAB isolate was identified as belonging to the genus Lactobacillus and is presumably identified to be Lactobacillus plantarum

Performance Comparison of Large-Core Optical Waveguides with Waste-Derived and Analytical-Grade Chitosan Core Materials

This study investigates and compares the optical performance of large-core polymer waveguides fabricated using shrimp-shell-derived chitosan (SSC) and analytical-grade chitosan (AGC) as core materials. Both materials were processed into a buried square-core waveguide configuration and evaluated through optical loss measurements, time-dependent loss (TiDL), temperature-dependent loss (TDL), and microstructural examination. The two chitosan types exhibited their lowest attenuation at a concentration of 0.04 g/mL, with AGC showing marginally lower optical loss, consistent with its higher purity and degree of deacetylation. AGC also demonstrated superior temporal and thermal stability, supported by SEM results indicating a smoother and more homogeneous core morphology. Nevertheless, SSC showed performance levels closely comparable to AGC, revealing that biowaste-derived chitosan can function effectively as a core material for large-core waveguides. This outcome underscores the potential of SSC as a sustainable, low-cost alternative, contributing to SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through biowaste valorization, and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by promoting eco-friendly materials for future optical sensor platforms. The results affirm that SSC-based waveguides hold promise for applications including humidity, pH, chemical, and biochemical sensing
