Background:  The impact of religion and spirituality on schizophrenia patients' lives is significant yet understudied. Religion can provide hope and purpose but also lead to spiritual distress and delusions. It influences psychopathology, social integration, and treatment outcomes, serving as an effective tool in managing the illness. Objective: This review assesses the link between schizophrenia, spirituality, and religion. Methods: The study utilized electronic searches on schizo-phrenics, mental health, religion, religiosity, religious practices, and spirituality using PubMed and Google Scholar. Relevant articles were identified, including those assessing religion and caregivers of schizophrenia patients. Additionally, textbooks related to schizo-phrenia, religion, and spirituality were included. Results: Religion, faith, and spirituality intertwine as integral aspects of human experience, influencing beliefs, behaviors, and mental health. Recognizing their significance, clinicians must navigate their role in patient care while respecting diverse beliefs. The interaction between religiosity and schizophrenia presents complexities, impacting treatment adherence and outcomes, necessitating a holistic approach to psychiatric care. Conclusion: Religion significantly impacts individuals, including those with psychosis, offering both support and complexities in mental health. Clinicians must acknowledge and address religious aspects sensitively, as they can influence coping mechanisms but also pose risks such as non-adherence to treatment and potential for harm. Integrating religious considerations into clinical practice is crucial for providing holistic mental health care

Characterization depicted the personal traits of character in the story. This became a crucial thing, especially for the readers, because characterization can create an imagination or fantasy. Character in the story is usually changed and developed. In the translation field, the depiction of the characters should be translated as it is from source to target text. This research uses descriptive qualitative type. It has aims to identify the attitude of character development of children story based on the story stages such as orientation, complication, evaluation, and resolution; to investigate the translation technique and shift of attitude types in the children story. In analyzing this topic, the researchers used attitude system (affect, judgement, appreciation) of appraisal theory (Martin & White, 2005) and translation technique (Molina & Albir, 2002). The children story used in this study entitled “My Older Brother” and “Abangku” which are taken from Storyweaver. The result of this research showed that there are differences in depicting the characters in the source text and target text. The characters were developed well in each phases or stages. Nonetheless, characters were also affected by several translation techniques used by the translator and it caused shifts in character depiction. The 9 translation techniques found in this study are established equivalent, explicitation, discursive creation, paraphrase, modulation, deletion, implicitation, transposition, and variation. Some techniques caused shift in translation.  Characterization depicted the personal traits of character in the story. EfficientNet for Medical Image Classification: Performance vs. Efficiency in Skin Cancer Detection

    Get PDF
This study applies EfficientNetB2, a computationally efficient convolutional neural network (CNN), to improve the accuracy of skin cancer detection using the heterogeneous HAM10000 dataset. Skin cancer classification poses challenges, including overfitting and class imbalance, which we address through data augmentation, class weighting, and SMOTE (Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique). Our model achieved accuracy of 86%, precision of 0.87, recall of 0.85, and an AUC of 0.90. These results outperform comparable architectures, such as ResNet50 and GoogleNet, while maintaining lower computational complexity. The proposed model demonstrates high precision in detecting actinic keratoses and basal cell carcinoma, which require timely treatment, but faces difficulties in differentiating melanoma from benign nevi because of their similar visual appearance. This study highlights the potential of EfficientNetB2 for real-world deployment in resource-limited settings, such as mobile health applications and telemedicine platforms. Future research will focus on integrating attention mechanisms and exploring cross-dataset validation to enhance model generalizability and performance
