    Photograph of construction of Lauderdale Student Health Center at SUNY Geneseo. North end looking south. Pictured is construction site prefoundation and a Dewitt concrete mixer. Lauderdale Health Center was constructed 1965-1966. The building is named in honor of two Geneseo physicians: Dr. Walter Lauderdale, Sr. (1806-1893), who was a member of Geneseo Normal School\u27s original Board of Visitors and served from 1871 to 1893, and his son, Dr. Walter Lauderdale, Jr. (1850-1933), who served on the Board of Visitors from 1894 to 1933.     verso: Campus school west face The Winfield A. Holcomb Building (Holcomb School) was built in 1969, replacing the Winfield Holcomb School of Practice which then became James B. Welles Hall. It was named in honor of Dr. Winfield A. Holcomb, principal of Geneseo Normal from 1922 to 1934.     Red Jacket Dining Hall

    Completed in 1967, it is named in honor of Red Jacket (ca. 1758-1830), Seneca chief and orator who opposed the sale of western New York Indian land to the whites in the late 1700s.     Sturges Hall

    Sturges Hall, originally named the Class Room and Administration Building, was built in 1938 and has served as a general classroom building since. In the fall of 1983 a new carillon was installed. It had received a “gut renovation” that will remove all interior walls and utilities while preserving historical significance of items such as the auditorium, grand tower stairway, windows, and clock that is slated to complete in 2026. It is named in honor of Dr. James V. Sturges, Principal of Geneseo Normal from 1905 to 1922.https://knightscholar.geneseo.edu/cap-sturges/1001/thumbnail.jp
