Social maintenance of incorruptibility from the perspective of local methodology：A study of the spread of a biography in the Ming and Qing dynasties and its value realization
No full text《天溪陶公传》是嘉靖朝锦衣卫使陶凤仪的廉政传记,现存于广西玉林市《德香堂唐氏家谱》中。作者唐之夔乃万历朝进士,以＂直臣＂著世。陶氏起家广西玉林,《传》主曾祖父陶成、祖父陶鲁威震南国,《明史》有二人合传。因勤于戡乱,＂玉林陶＂为匪敌仇视,故被诏徙籍广东（新会→南海→广州）,《传》亦因之东传,但无论在官方视野还是民间层面,其文献价值始终不彰。迄至乾隆朝,玉林唐氏后人从广东辑回本《传》,基于家族共同体及其文化网络组织,再生产廉洁知识,重建地方性象征资本,规范士人社会,以一种非正式制度方式,形塑出＂社会养廉＂的本土方法论。显然,开启此类传统方法论的＂制度化＂进程,正是目前化解反腐制度供给不足的有效策略。
A Biography of Tian-xi Tao-gong is a biography of Tao Fengyi＇s incorrupt administration,who was an imperial guard in the Jiajing period of the Ming dynasty. This biography is collected in Dexiangtang Tang Genealogy in Yulin of Guangxi. Its author was Tang Zhikui,a Jinshi Scholar in the Wanli period of the Ming dynasty and famous for his uprightness. The Tao family became successful in Yulin of Guangxi. Tao Fengyi＇s great grandfather Tao Cheng and grandfather Tao Lu were powerful officials in south China,whose biography is included in A History of the Ming Dynasty. Due to the Tao＇s brave fighting against rebellions,the bandits in Guangxi were hostile to ＂the Tao Family at Yulin＂. Thus,the emperor sent the Tao family to Guangdong（ Xinhui → Nanhai → Guangzhou）. That is why A Biography of Tian-xi Tao-gong was spread eastward. However,its documentary value did not shine officially or non-officially. Up to the Qianlong period of the Qing dynasty,the descendants of the Tao family of Yulin brought back the Biography. Based on their tribal community and cultural connections,they reproduced the knowledge of incorruptibility,reconstructed the indigenous symbolic capital,brought order to the intellectual community,and created a local methodology for social maintenance of incorruptibility based on an informal system. It is clear now that to institutionalize such traditional methodology is an effective strategy for solving the institutional problem of the current anti-corruption.国家社会科学基金一般项目“中国特色的社会养廉机制研究”(14BZZ034
