The educational role of the academic library
The dynamic flow of information and rapidly developing technologies have a significant impact on today's knowledge society. Following the trends in technology and user behavior, libraries as part of this community are also changing. They are transforming the way they gather information, their architectural environment, and the services they offer. Thus, from guardians of knowledge, they are becoming centers of learning. Their passivity remains in the past and they are on the path of active communication with readers, combined with digitization. The subject of the article is the academic library of the University of Economics - Varna, and the topic of research is the direction of transition as a result of the changing environment. The aim is to trace the opportunities and services that the institution provides to its readers and the prospects for development
Varna – the founder of the Alley of the Book cultural event
The report presents the origin of the national book exhibition in the city of Varna on July 28, 1927, a seaside and resort town since 1926, as well as one of the cultural centers of Bulgaria with its traditions in continuity. The event was possible thanks to the Bulgarian Book Committee, created for this purpose, in order to present the wealth of Bulgarian books and magazines published annually and to prepare a periodical bulletin for the newly published titles. The booksellers Dimitar Dimitrov and Boyan Bluskov, well-known at the time, participated in it, along with a team of Bulgarian teachers. This was the prototype of the current Alley of the Book cultural event, established in the city of Varna in 2010. It is an institution for humanitarian and cultural educational activities. The goal is to participate in the support of charitable initiatives with the collected sums from the sale of books. For thirteen years, Alley of the Book has been presented annually, gradually established in Sofia, Plovdiv, Burgas, Veliko Turnovo, and Gabrovo, held in different months, in order to feel the impact of the inviolable proximity to the most valuable thing—the book

Metastatic fractures occur when cancer cells spread to the spine and cause fractures, while traumatic fractures result from accidents or injuries. This procedure is performed by specialized surgeons and is often utilized in the treatment of accompanying pain and mobility restrictions resulting from vertebral fractures or compression. The medical nurse is an essential part of the team involved in vertebroplasty, playing a crucial role in ensuring the safety and comfort of the patient throughout the entire process

Techniques To Overcome Pain And Stress From Medical Manipulations
Pain is defined as the fifth vital sign reporting the patient's condition. Many medical manipulations and examinations are associated with pain. Its effective control not only relieves discomfort, which is considered a central concept in the art of nursing and midwifery, but also improves the patient's quality of life. Pain management can also be achieved by assisting the patient in coping with sensory and emotional distress due to actual pain and the fear of it. The report presents some of the techniques that are possible to apply: cryotherapy, injection techniques, training related to correct breathing, distraction techniques, appropriate professional communication tailored to the individual, specific characteristics of the patient
Gestational diabetes and vitamins
Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is defined as a condition of hyperglycemia first detected in pregnancy. It is the most common metabolic pregnancy complication and affects approximately 16.5% of pregnancies worldwide. The trend is that the percentage of pregnancies with GDM is increasing in connection with the growing epidemic of obesity. Many risk factors, including excessive weight gain, gestational age, and genetic background, contribute to the development of the disease. Hyperglycemia during pregnancy is associated with a variety of adverse complications for both pregnant women and their offspring, occurring during pregnancy, delivery, and later in life. A deeper knowledge of the risk factors and pathogenesis of GDM would potentially increase the possibilities of disease prevention.Many studies in the field suggest a link between reduced intake of certain nutrients, such as vitamin D and vitamin B12, and the increased risk of GDM. Low serum concentrations of vitamin D and vitamin B12 are common during pregnancy. Pathological mechanisms explaining the presence or absence of dependencies between vitamin deficiency and the development of GDМ are still poorly understood and are explored in this review article
Astrocyte heterogeneity under physiological conditions and after brain injury
There is a growing interest in astrocytes as glial cells in the central nervous system due to their important role in maintaining brain tissue homeostasis both under physiological conditions and after brain injury. A significant amount of evidence has been accumulated regarding their capacity to exert either pro-inflammatory or anti-inflammatory effects under different pathological conditions. In combination with their known high proliferative potential, they contribute not only to the limitation of brain damage and tissue remodeling but also to neuronal repair and the recovery of synaptic contacts in neurons. Moreover, reactive astroglia modulates the processes of neurogenesis, proliferation, and migration of neurons in the existing neural circuits in the adult brain. The identification of specific niche signals that regulate these sequential steps during adult neurogenesis may lead to the development of strategies for inducing functional neurogenesis in other areas of the brain after an injury or in degenerative neurological diseases
