Errors in solving quadratic equations and their impact on secondary school students' mathematics performance: A case study in Lebowakgomo sub-district
Errors in solving quadratic equations are common among high school students and can significantly impact their mathematical proficiency. This study aimed to investigate the types of errors made by Grade 10 students and identify the factors contributing to these errors. The study was conducted in three senior secondary schools in Lebowakgomo District, Limpopo Province, involving ninety-nine Mathematics students, with nine selected for interviews. Data were analyzed quantitatively through students’ test scores and qualitatively using document analysis and interviews. The findings revealed that students’ difficulties were often reflected in errors related to carelessness, misapplication of numerical operations, order of operations, and challenges in handling algebraic equations. These conceptual and procedural inconsistencies hinder students' problem-solving abilities. The implication of this study is the urgent need for targeted instructional strategies that address conceptual understanding and procedural fluency to improve students' academic performance in Mathematics
Organizational Commitment: Developing a Valid and Reliable Measuring Instrument
Organizational commitment is crucial to study because high commitment is believed to be beneficial for both the organization and the employees themselves. When employees have a commitment to the organization, it leads to their optimal efforts, which are essential for achieving organizational goals. This study uses the organizational commitment theory developed by Allen and Meyer (1991), which encompasses three aspects: affective, continuance, and normative commitment. The theory was further developed into 47 items. The theory was chosen because it effectively represents the dimensions of organizational commitment and serves as a solution to enhance understanding and develop effective strategies to strengthen organizational commitment. The research was conducted at Hospital X with a population of 728 employees, and 202 research subjects were selected using simple random sampling. The research employed a quantitative method, and data collection was conducted using a Likert scale questionnaire. The results of the study revealed that out of the 47 items, 12 items were invalid, leaving 35 items that can measure the variable of organizational commitment. Keywords: Organizational Commitment, Psychological Scale, Measuring Instrumen
Constitutional Guarantees and Justice in Indonesia’s Poverty Alleviation Programs (2014–2024)
Poverty alleviation is a central issue in sustainable development and is the constitutional mandate of the Indonesian state. This article analyses the role of constitutional guarantees, the positive impact of poverty alleviation programs 2014-2024, and policy implementation challenges. This study uses a qualitative approach with a normative and empirical legal research design. Normative legal studies focus on the legal basis of policies, while empirical studies examine policy implementation in the field. This research uses the theory of justice. The results show; First, Indonesia's constitutional guarantee is a strong legal basis for poverty alleviation. Articles in the 1945 Constitution provide a solid foundation for realizing justice. Second, the KIS, KIP, and PKH programs improve the welfare of low-income people. Third, challenges in policy implementation include access gaps between regions, budget instability, limited supervision, weak institutional capacity, and uneven digital infrastructure. This research concludes that the KIS, KIP, and PKH programmes reflect the mandate of social justice in the 1945 Constitution and are proven to improve the welfare of the poor. Utilization of Hematite Nanomaterial Based on Geres River Sand Magnetic Mineral to Improve Water Quality
This study aims to synthesize hematite based on magnetic minerals from the Geres River sand, which is used as a heavy metal absorbent. The Geres River iron sand-based magnetic mineral has a high iron content that can be extracted to produce hematite. The synthesis method used is the coprecipitation method. Mineral content and morphology were characterized using SEM-EDX. Hematite functional groups were analyzed using FTIR. Water quality analysis was based on physical parameters (conductivity and TDS) using a TDS meter, while the heavy metal content of Mn before and after filtration was analyzed using AAS. Based on SEM-EDX analysis, the average grain size of hematite was (0.99 ± 0.20) µm with the highest element content of Fe (72.90 ± 0.28) %. Functional groups are formed at a wavelength of 951.72 cm-1, which shows the Fe=O double bond. After filtration, hematite was able to reduce the heavy metal content of Mn by 19.58%, followed by a decrease in conductivity by 12.95% and a decrease in TDS by 15.18%. This shows that hematite is effectively used as a heavy metal absorbent. Through this research, it is hoped that the community will not only use iron sand magnetic minerals as building materials but also process them into more useful materials such as hematite, which can be used as a heavy metal absorbent
Trend of Applying the Conceptual Change Model in Physics Learning: Systematic Literature Review
Physics learning often faces challenges in improving students' conceptual understanding. Conceptual change models are widely used to address this. This study aims to analyze these gaps, review the materials used, and identify improvements made. The study examined fifty-seven articles from four good-quality journal databases: Scopus, Science Direct, Eric, and Sage Journal. This study uses a systematic literature review method using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis) technique. The analyzed data was visualized based on selected articles in the form of mapping tabula, including the country of origin of the research, the physics content studied, the frequency of topic material, and the focus of the problem in the research over the last five years (2019-2024). The findings show that the trend of applying learning models in various physics learning materials over the past five years has varied, with ten countries implementing conceptual change model research. The content of matter has varied, including complete kinematics, fluids, pendulums, temperature and heat, sound waves, light waves, Pascal's laws, and quantum. The benefits of integrating conceptual change models in physics learning include diagnosing students who experience misunderstandings and improving conceptual understanding. One of the next research recommendations is to apply momentum and impulse materials while still using a conceptual change model in physics learning

Enhancing Arabic Proficiency through Structured Language Planning and Curriculum Integration/ Ta'ziz al-Kafa'ah al-Lughawiyyah al-'Arabiyyah min Khilal al-Takhtit al-Lughawi al-Munazzam wa Takamul al-Manahij al-Dirasiyyah
The lack of well structured Arabic language planning in several Islamic educational institutions has led to fragmented learning and minimal real-world application of the language. This study had the urgency to explore the deeper causes of this issue and analyze how intentional language policy which is thoughtfully implemented can improve learners’ Arabic proficiency, connect language use to Islamic studies, and build a more immersive educational environment. This qualitative study critically analyzed the mid-level Arabic language planning policy at the Imam Shafi'i Islamic Boarding School in Lampung. Using a qualitative case study design, the data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews with administrators, eight teachers, and twenty students, as well as curriculum and institutional document analysis. The findings revealed three core aspects of language planning at the islamic institution: (1) a strong emphasis on achieving proficiency in both spoken and written Arabic; (2) the integration of Arabic language materials with Islamic studies through a thoughtfully selected curriculum; and (3) the development of an Arabic-speaking environment. This study offered practical insights into how structured Arabic language planning can improve student proficiency in Islamic boarding schools. By examining the case of Imam Shafi'i Islamic Boarding School, it showed how integrating Arabic instruction with Islamic studies and building an immersive language environment can lead to more effective learning. The findings provided a model that other Islamic institutions can adapt to develop clearer language goals, strengthen teaching strategies, and create supportive environments for Arabic learning
Criminal Liability for Murder of Individuals with Schizophrenia
Criminal law aims to maintain social order by delineating prohibited and permissible conduct. Murder, as a material offense, prioritizes consequences—specifically, the unlawful deprivation of life—and necessitates proof of intent. When perpetrators exhibit mental disorders such as schizophrenia, a specialized assessment of their capacity for criminal responsibility becomes imperative. Article 44 of Indonesia’s Criminal Code (KUHP) explicitly exempts individuals unable to assume responsibility due to mental disorders from punishment. This study therefore examines the criminal liability of perpetrators who commit murder while diagnosed with schizophrenia, employing a qualitative methodology that integrates statutory and case-law approaches (analyzing Decisions 105/Pid.B/2023/PN.Gdt and 108/Pid.B/2021/PN.Stb). Key findings reveal stark disparities in court verdicts, attributable to inconsistent medical-legal evaluations of the perpetrators’ mental capacity. The research underscores that schizophrenia may serve as a valid excuse under Article 44 KUHP if evidence confirms the perpetrator’s inability to comprehend or control their actions. However, divergent judicial interpretations—based on psychiatric examinations (e.g., Visum et Repertum) and trial facts—highlight an urgent need for standardized assessment protocols. Crucially, the study demonstrates that criminal liability hinges not solely on the commission of unlawful acts (unlawfulness), but equally on the perpetrator’s ability to be responsible (toerekeningsvatbaarheid). To ensure justice and consistency, Indonesia must harmonize medical and juridical criteria for evaluating mental capacity in homicide cases involving schizophrenia
