Zero field splitting parameter of Mn2+ doped guanidine zinc sulphate crystal -a theoretical study

A theoretical investigation of crystal field parameters (CFP) and zero-field splitting (ZFS) parameter D of Mn2+ doped guanidine zinc sulphate (GZS) crystals at room temperature (RT) is done with the help of superposition model and the perturbation theory. The ZFS parameter D determined here is in good agreement with the experimental value reported earlier. The conclusion of experimental study that Mn2+ substitutes for Zn2+ in GZS is supported by our theoretical investigation. The values of D without and with local distortion are 11174.3×10-4 cm-1 and 702.4 ×10-4 cm-1, respectively, while the experimental value is 702.0×10-4 cm-1

Validation of the International Engineering Motivation Construct with Multigroup Analysis

The purpose of this study was twofold. First, the study aimed to validate multicultural workforce motivation in engineering. Second, it aimed to perform a subgroup analyses of the identified model to determine if the theoretical model is valid across demographics. Data were collected from a total of 268 employees working in the United States either as a natural citizen or with an Employment Authorization Document (EAD). The theoretical framework used in the study was Herzberg’s Motivation-Hygiene Theory, which is suggested by many (Ben Slimane, 2017; Shuck and Herd, 2012; Singh & Bhattacharjee, 2019). The instruments used were Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) suggested by Weiss et al. (1967) and the Vancouver Index of Acculturation (VIA) suggested by Ryder et al., (2000). Data were collected using crowdsourcing agency.  Both exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analyses (CFA) were used in the study. The model was tested with a specific bias test and for model invariance at both the global and local levels. A multi-group difference test was conducted on the participants’ industry, position, birth country, ethnicity, gender, age group, and educational background to confirm or deny configural, metric and scalar invariance. The study validated the results from prior research that reported different number of factors for the motivation construct.  The results of the study suggest that even old theories from a western country, such as Herzberg’s Motivation-Hygiene Theory, still could be valid in multicultural organizations.  Recommendations for future research are provided

    A Study on Sum Formulas of Generalized Pentanacci Sequence: Closed Forms of the Sum Formulas ∑_{k=0}ⁿx^{k}W_{k} and ∑_{k=1}ⁿx^{k}W_{-k}

In this paper, closed forms of the sum formulas k=0nxkWk\sum_{k=0}^{n}x^{k}W_{k} and k=1nxkWk\sum_{k=1}^{n}x^{k}W_{-k} for generalized Pentanacci numbers are presented. As special cases, we give summation formulas of Pentanacci, Pentanacci-Lucas, and other fifth-order recurrence sequences

Thoughts and Experiences with Mental Health, Substance Use, and Crime during the COVID-19 Lockdown

The COVID-19 lockdown has taken a major toll on people’s lives.  This study set out to explore how the shutdown has affected families and psychological health.  Data were collected from 637 respondents.  Statistical findings revealed that the majority of people were experiencing increased levels of depression, stress, anxiety, and loneliness.  The majority of respondents also felt that various social problems, such as drug and alcohol use, domestic violence, and victimization, were also worsening because of the crisis.  There was also a general belief that there would be an increasing need for mental health services across society. Even though the majority of participants felt that this pandemic has placed a major strain on their families, nearly 8 out 10 stated that their family relationships have improved. Those from the lower-class seem to have been impacted the most (e.g., stress, depressive symptoms, anxiety) and have the highest concerns about crime and violence. Women were also more likely than men to be experiencing increased mental health issues and to be concerned about larger social problems. Other illuminating findings were found concerning ethnicity and age in regard to mental health and social problems (e.g., crime, victimization, domestic violence).  This study has brought forth additional findings to help elucidate how the ongoing COVID-19 stay-at-home orders are affecting people’s lives and overall functioning.&nbsp

Stochastic SIR Household Epidemic Model with Misspecification

The stochastic SIR household epidemic model is well discussed in [3], [4], [5] and also in [1]by assuming that the infection period distribution is known. Sometimes this may wronglybe assumed in the model estimation and hence the adequacy of the model fittness to thefinal size data is affected. we examined this problem using simulations with large population size and theoretical parameters in which the final size data is first simulated with exp(4.1) infectious period distribution and estimated with Gamma(2,4.1/2) infectious period distribution and vice versa. The estimates of the two dimensional models are further explored for a range of local and global infection rates with corresponding proportion infected and found to be biased and imprecise

Assessment of adsorption kinetics for removal Copper Ions from aqueous solutions using Egg Shells as a Bioabsorbent

Adsorption process kinetics study showed the possibility of using egg shell as a natural adsorbent, and this has had a high effectiveness in eliminating ions of Cu ion from water solution. The experiments were conducted in a temperature range of 293 - 323 K, with the initial concentration of Cu ions of 5 mg/L and adsorbent of 5 mg/L. At during in experiments, pH Solution value was set to 6, and the amount of absorbed ions was determined the following time interactions: 10, 30, 40, 60, and 120 minutes. The experiments were conducted in an electric shaker, at 200 rpm speed. The data the pseudo-second row model depends on the value of the correlation coefficient (R2), The results data suggest that this model describes the adsorption system well when the correlation coefficient R2 > 0.900. which indicates that this model is more applicable and better describes the examined adsorption processes in this study and speed of interacting with adsorbent and active places present on the surface of the biosphere

Use Of Electronic Resources By Postgraduate Users in Kenyan Selected Academic Libraries

Electronic resources have presented many benefits alongside challenges to information consumers. The advent of new technologies facilitates virtual resource sharing by diverse users compared to print resources. However, despite academic libraries spending a huge sum of money subscribing to various e-resources, it has been noted that some of these resources are under-utilized due to low levels of awareness and lack of access and skills. This study used a mixed-method design in four (4) Kenyan university academic libraries. SPSS software was used to analyze data and information. It was established that 73% of respondents have access to e-journals while 29.7% reported that the high cost of the subscription to some resources was a challenge to them. It was however concluded that electronic resources are heavily used and are vital to support the objectives of universities by improving the performance of postgraduate students.&nbsp

Patients' Perceptions of Drug Abuse Rehabilitation Services in Psychiatric Hospital

Drug abuse is a very complex and serious problem in the international community, including Indonesia. It needs adequate handling in rehabilitation services program. The study aims to describe the patient's perception of drug abuse patient rehabilitation services. We used qualitative research with an analytic descriptive approach. Collected data by in-depth interviews, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), observation, and document. A total of 14 participants consisted of drug addict patients, nurses, head of mental planning, head of the polyclinic, a doctor, assessor, and patient's family. Analyses were performed using content analysis in stages, namely: transcript text, meaning unit, coding, and theme. The results showed that the utilization of service quality from the availability of health facilities was adequate and medical costs were still affordable. It's just a need continuous improvement of training for health workers skill. Meanwhile, another aspect that the patient needs is family support which major role in the recovery process. The main conclusion of this study, it is necessary to develop the quality of service by making the Family Support Group a forum for families to share experiences and obstacles

Necessary forms of inclusion support for persons with cerebral palsy, hearing impairment and other associated difficulties

Persons with cerebral palsy, hearing impairment and other associated difficulties need various forms of support. Support for these persons is inadequate, both due to the insufficient number of services provided by the system and largely due to the poor socio-economic status of these persons. The consequence of insufficient support, especially in the early period, is inadequate education and rehabilitation, which ultimately affects the social inclusion of these persons. The aim of the study is to examine the necessary types of support for persons with cerebral palsy, hearing impairment and other associated difficulties and to determine whether there is a statistically significant difference in the representation of the required types of support between cantons. The study was conducted on a sample of 120 respondents, persons with cerebral palsy, hearing impairment and other associated difficulties from four cantons of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Each canton consisted of one subsample of respondents. The results of the study showed that in addition to the existing support, 7.66% of persons with cerebral, hearing impairment and other associated difficulties need additional forms of support. Additional types of support mentioned by the respondents are: physical therapy (27.50%), more treatments (5.83%), professional help (5.00%), special education help (2.50%), school assistant help (3.33%), socialization (1.66%), all forms of support (8.33%), help from a speech therapist (11.66%), help from a psychologist (5.83%) and more socializing (5.00%). Respondents from all cantons need all these types of support and there is no statistically significant difference between cantons
