The Stochastic SIR Household Epidemics With TI ≡ 4:1 and TI Having GAMMA(a, b) Infectious Period Distribution
Model estimates, their functions are in no doubt affected by wrong choice of the infectious period distribution, TI when the actual one is unknown. This is a misspecification problem which is often accompanied with biased and imprecise estimates. This work does not com- pletely examined this problem but explored the choice of constant infectious period, TI ≡ 4.1 and TI distributed as Γ(2, 2.05) for the household epidemic and then examined their effects on the behaviours of the model functions and quality of its maximum likelihood estimates in order to see if there are considerable disparities in the maximum likelihood estimates and behaviours of the functions giving these scenarios and whether constant infectious period is a reasonable assumption for the stochastic SIR household epidemic.

Gender Comparison Of Alpha-Fetoprotein, CD4, Albumin and Some Liver Enzymes in Symptomatic HIV Subjects on Antiretroviral Therapy
The emergence of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) has remained an issue of global discuss till date as it continues to invade and ravage the world’s population despite the efforts been made globally at tackling the impact of the virus. This is a case controlled study designed to comparatively evaluate the alpha-fetoprotein, CD4+ T-cell count, albumin and some liver enzymes activities in male and female symptomatic HIV subjects on antiretroviral therapy in NAUTH Nnewi, South Eastern Nigeria. A total of seventy one (71) participants who were aged between 18 and 60 years attending the voluntary counseling and testing unit (VCT) and antiretroviral therapy unit (ART) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi as well as 25 control subjects were randomly recruited for the study . CD4 count, alpha fetoprotein (AFP), albumin, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and alkaline phosphatase activities were estimated by standard laboratory methods. Results showed no significant differences in the mean values of AFP, CD4 count, albumin, ALT, AST and ALP compared between male and female symptomatic HIV infected individuals on ART and symptomatic HIV infected male and female subjects NOT on ART (p>0.05) respectively. Also, there was no significant difference in ALT and AST activities when compared between male and female HIV seronegative control (p>0.05) although ALP activity was significantly higher in female control subjects than in males (p=0.01). This revealed no gender specific differences in mean values of alpha fetoprotein, albumin, CD4 T-cell count, and liver enzyme activities between male and female HIV infected symptomatic individuals on antiretroviral therapy and symptomatic HIV infected persons NOT on antiretroviral therapy
Minisum and minimax transfer point location problem with random demands points
This paper is concerned with analyzing some models of the weighted transfer point location problem under the minisum and minimax criterions when demand points are randomly distributed over regions of the plane and the location of the service facility is known. In case of minisum objective with rectilinear distance, an iterative procedure was constructed for estimating the optimal transfer point location using the hyperbolic application procedure. Exact analytic solution was obtained when the random demand points follow uniform distributions. A unified analytic optimal solution was provided for all types of probability distributions of the random demand points when the distance is the squared Euclidean distance. For minimax objective with squared Euclidean distance, an iterative procedure based on Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions was developed to produce an approximate solution to the optimal solution. Illustrative numerical examples were provided
Generalized Leonardo Numbers
In this paper, we investigate the generalized Leonardo sequences and we deal with, in detail, three special cases, namely, modified Leonardo, Leonardo-Lucas and Leonardo sequences. We present Binet's formulas, generating functions, Simson formulas, and the summation formulas for these sequences. Moreover, we give some identities and matrices related with these sequences. Furthermore, we show that there are close relations between modified Leonardo, Leonardo-Lucas, Leonardo numbers and Fibonacci, Lucas numbers
Identification and assessment of Modifiable and Non-Modifiable risk factors and oxidative stress in pathophysiology of stroke diseases- a review
The aim of this review is the identifying the main factors risk factors and manifesting the role of oxidative stress as factors associated with stroke diseases. It is very difficult to determine the cause of stroke but studies scientists have shown that some characteristics and non-modifiable factors of peoples played a major role in developing strokelike, age, Gender, Race and Heredity. Other modifiable risk factors includehypertension, Heart disease, Diabetes mellitus, Dyslipidemia and Obesity have also been associated with higher stroke incidence. On the other hand, studies support that oxidative stress is directly involved in the genesis and aggressiveness appearance of stroke. However, cerebral dysfunction like Ischaemia would be followed by reperfusion leads to increased production of free radicals which induce also oxidative stress. In conclusion, changing human behavior in life is the first way to prevent stroke disease; on the other hand, we suggest that antioxidants treatment has great benefits in improving patient health and decreasing the vascular complications of stroke
Financial Policy and Taxation Relevancy in Theoretical and Practical Financial Economics
The foremost purpose of this paper is to concisely explain to individuals teaching economics in an academic setting or using economics in a practical setting some of the basics of long run financial theory and taxation items focusing on the dividend policy decision of a corporation. The main motivation for this study is based on observations of economists being very deficient in the discipline of finance and taxation especially in long run financial concepts. Many times practitioners or academics who are educated in the area of economics lack any type of background in finance and/or taxes and therefore are deficient with their knowledge of financial theory and applications. This disconnect prevents using many financial applications in their own classes, in their own businesses or with their own research. This paper serves as a primer to some of the long run dividend policy theories that individuals can use as a starting point to their additional research, study or use in teaching. Areas related to dividend policy and financial theory in general can be utilized by economists in academia and the private sector to enhance and advance their professional careers
The Role of Organisational Capabilities in the Competitiveness of Hotels in Southwest Nigeria
Inadequate organisational capabilities have led to various problems for many hotels with a growing limitation in their ability to perform. Several studies relating to organisational capabilities and organisational performance have been conducted in the literature but none of these have investigated organisational capabilities as a predictor of competitiveness in the hospitality industry in Nigeria. This study therefore investigated the role of organisational capabilities in the competitiveness of selected hotels in South-west Nigeria. The study adopted cross-sectional survey research design. The population was 2,750 management and supervisory staff of 37 selected hotels in Southwest Nigeria. The sample size of 450 was determined using the Slovin sampling formula. A proportionate stratified sampling technique was employed to select the respondents. A structured and validated questionnaire was used to collect data. Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients for all the constructs had an average of 0.728. The response rate was 77.3%. Data collected were analysed using descriptive and inferential (multiple and hierarchical regression) statistics. Findings from the study indicated that organisational capabilities had significant and positive effect on competitiveness at (Adj. R2=0.337; F(6,340)=30.251; p<0.05) of selected hotels in Southwest Nigeria. The study concluded that corporate culture, managerial knowledge, human capacity and innovation management are key resources for driving competitiveness of hotels in Southwest Nigeria
The Mediating Role of Halal Awareness in Purchase Intention for Cosmetic Products: An empirical study in Klang Valley
Halal Trade has received much attention recently due to the increased Muslim population around the world. The rise of Muslim population has given much insights to the marketers as they present another concern in term of their consumption pattern. The religious belief required the Muslim to consume only the halal product. Hence, halal awareness becomes a determining factor for comestic product purchase among the Muslims. Current research paper studies the consumer’s purchase intention through the mediating role of Halal awareness by adopting Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB). The results revealed there are signficant direct relationships between Attitude, Perceived Behavoiral Control (PCB) and Subjctive Norm towards Halal Awareness. Meanwhile, halal awareness is not mediating attitude-purchase intention relationship. The results explain that halal awareness influences the relationship between subjective norm, perceived behavioural control and purchase intention. This paper contributes by complementing existing research of the mediating role of halal awareness in TPB, particularly in cosmetic products.
Sum Formulas For Generalized Tetranacci Numbers: Closed Forms of the Sum Formulas ∑_{k=0}ⁿx^{k}W_{k} and ∑_{k=1}ⁿx^{k}W_{-k}
In this paper, closed forms of the sum formulas ∑_{k=0}ⁿx^{k}W_{k} and ∑_{k=1}ⁿx^{k}W_{-k} for generalized Tetranacci numbers are presented. As special cases, we give summation formulas of Tetranacci, Tetranacci-Lucas, and other fourth-order recurrence sequences
