Future City: A Pilot Project of GATE Center of Excellence
Citizens and cities’ government meet several challenges due to urbanization. The well-being of the citizens depends on the cities’ government, while the citizens apply information and communication technologies (ICTs) to improve society’s quality of life. The cities’ government and citizens need to work together to provide a “smart” living environment. The modern ICTs, including Big Data, IoT and Cloud, enable cities to become smart. They are a successful factor for development of smart solutions that provide information about what is happening in the city, timely response to citizen needs and better control of operations needed to increase the quality of life.
In such a context, this paper presents a pilot project in the area of smart and sustainable cities. The pilot project is planned to be implemented as a part of research and development activities of the future BiG DAta for SmarT SociEty (GATE) Center of Excellence that will be established as a joint initiative between Sofia University, Bulgaria and Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. The concept of the pilot project is described, including its main objectives and reference architecture. The possible application scenarios, covering different city dimensions, are discussed.

Singular Infinite Horizon Linear-Quadratic Optimal Control Problem for Systems with Known Disturbances: a Regularization Approach
We consider an infinite horizon linear-quadratic optimal control problem for a system with known additive disturbance. A weight matrix of the control cost in the cost functional of this problem is singular, meaning that the problem itself is singular. Using a regularization method, we obtain the infimum of the cost functional and a minimizing sequence of state-feedback controls in this problem. 2010 Mathematics Subject Classification: 49N10, 49K40, 49N60, 49N35, 49N25, 93C73

Information Technology – Homework in Fifth Grade
Report published in the Proceedings of the National Conference on "Education and Research in the Information Society", Plovdiv, June, 2018This report examines the importance of information technology homework for fifthgrade
students using innovative methods and online tools. A diagnosis of the students' attitudes
towards self-preparation through homework is presented, with the help of various learning
cognitive tasks for homework and a poll.Association for the Development of the Information Society, Institute of Mathematics and Informatics Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Plovdiv University "Paisii Hilendarski
Adaptive Computing by Memristor Circuits
Neuromorphic circuits will be considered for energy efficient computing based on biological principles in future electronic systems. Thereby, memristors are assumed in neuron models and for synapses in several recent investigations in order to overcome the limits of conventional von Neumann architectures by taking these devices as memory elements and as well as devices for computation also in bioinspired artificial neural networks. Cellular Neural Networks (CNN) are universal high-speed computing systems with stored programmability and are already based on the principle of distributed computing with memory. The dynamical behavior of these spatiotemporal systems will be exploited to solve multidimensional signal processing and classification problems. For example, reaction-diffusion systems can be represented by state equations of socalled reaction-diffusion CNN showing the emergence of complex behavior (e.g. pattern formation) based on local activity and especially on a parameter subset called the edge of chaos. A first approach to the principle of combined sensing and computing will be presented in this contribution. A memristor enhanced control system for a humanoid robot called Myon [1,2] will be shown. For different memristor models new bio-inspired movement control paradigms will be introduced and the performance in achieving a fast energy efficient movement control evaluated for different cases. It will be demonstrated that memristors endow the control system of Myon with the adaptability to changes in its topology. 2010 Mathematics Subject Classification: 92B20, 68U10, 34C28, 35K57
Internet of Medical Imaging Things and Analytics in Support of Precision Medicine for Early Diagnostics of Thyroid Cancer
In this paper the role of advanced information technologies such as Internet of medical imaging Things and analytics in support and promotion of precision medicine is revealed considering a case study of early thyroid cancer diagnostics. The concept of precision medicine is presented and analyzed from the point of view of computational science and the new paradigm for scientific research. The focus of the paper is on the intersection of Internet of medical imaging Things and analytics ecosystem and precision medicine. The computational flow of in silico knowledge data discovery is presented and analyzed and the beneficial outcomes for the case study of thyroid cancer diagnostics revealed. Finally, the architecture of experimental framework for in silico knowledge data discovery is proposed based on thyroid cancer imaging analytics.

Bounds on Inverse Sum Indeg Index of Subdivision Graphs
The inverse sum indeg index of a simple graph is defined as the sum of the terms over all edges
of , where denotes the degree of a vertex of . In this paper, we present several upper and lower bounds on the inverse sum
indeg index of subdivision graphs and -subdivision graphs. In addition, we obtain the upper bounds for inverse sum indeg index of
-sum, -sum, -product, -product of graphs. ACM Computing Classification System (1998): G.2.2, G.2.3
Online Educational Computer Games Related to Topic “Internet Safety” – Analysis of Case Studies
Report published in the Proceedings of the National Conference on "Education and Research in the Information Society", Plovdiv, June, 2018The problems related to pedagogical and technological characteristics of educational
computer games are discussed. A framework for description of characteristics of online
educational computer games is performed. On the ground of this framework several free online
games regarding the topic “Internet Safety” are described. The topic has important place in
information technology school curricula.Association for the Development of the Information Society, Institute of Mathematics and Informatics Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Plovdiv University "Paisii Hilendarski
Ролята на алгоритмичното програмиране за подготовка на висококвалифицирани специалисти за IT сектора
Report published in the Proceedings of the National Conference on "Education and Research in the Information Society", Plovdiv, June,
Association for the Development of the Information Society, Institute of Mathematics and Informatics Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Plovdiv University "Paisii Hilendarski
