The Development of a Vocabulary List for Artwork Presentation

When considering English education for art students, there is the issue of handling their area of specialization in English classes. One solution is adopting an English for specific purposes (ESP) approach to identify the studentsʼ needs and offer classes that use their expertise. As an ESP practice, the authors have implemented the program, “Artwork Presentation in English.” In this research, they created and analyzed a vocabulary list for animation majors that is necessary for the presentation. Over 80% of the list’s English words are included in university students’ basic vocabulary, and the frequency of technical terms is low. However, a closer examination reveals that some words are used in a special sense even though they are plain. In compound words, each constituent’s original meanings are sometimes expanded into others. Since general dictionaries and word lists for university students cannot cover these special usages, this list should be utilized to give an effective presentation.departmental bulletin pape

SDGsと教育について、教育、社会文化的背景、学級経営の観点から検討した。This paper overviews what is expected of university level of education from three perspective of SDGs and education. In Chapter 1, Saito discusses the guidance of SDGs for secondary education and higher education. Each section includes the discussion after the change in the education system with SDGs. In Chapter 2, Shigemitsu points out that the aspect of understanding cultures is placed beneath the all 17 goals. However, the aspect is not mentioned explicitly. Therefore, when employing SDGs in the classes or courses, we need to keep in mind on the aspect of socio-cultural background into the SDGs. In Chapter 3, Shigeno explores the possibility of building the foundation of the SDGs philosophy by taking multicultural education as an example from the perspective of management in school education. As a result, it was found that the practice of multicultural education requires school management to develop while connecting and overlapping with learning of various related genres such as human rights, environment, and gender. It was suggested that the school management would facilitate the smooth development of the SDGs philosophy by integrating and focusing on educational content.departmental bulletin pape

What does the observer look at in viewing a 360-degree video ? ―Effect of presence or absence of multiple cuts and observation posture ―

In this study, I investigated whether the effect of multiple cuts and observation postures (standing and sitting) on the subjects' gaze when observing 360-degree videos using VR headsets. In the experiment, subjects wearing a VR headset (Vive PRO EYE : HTC) watched a 360-degree video (1 minute 48 seconds) created with 3DCG software six times. Gaze analysis software (Tobii Pro) was used to display a video and to collect and analyze gaze data. Six experimental conditions were created by combining the presented image (multiple cuts, close-up, bird's-eye view) and factors of observation posture (Standing posture and sitting posture). As a result of the experiment, the tendency to look at the speaker in both male and female vocalizations was indicated. In particular, there was a tendency to see the speaker in close-up condition that required turning of the head in order to see the speaker. This result suggests that an object to be watched may be placed in front of the viewer as one of the methods for producing a video work in which the viewer is not confused even with a 360 degree image with multiple cuts. The effect of posture was not strong because it was observed only in female vocalization, not in male vocalization.departmental bulletin pape
