Answer part in Question-Answer Sequence: A Discourse analytical study of ELF interaction
Full text link本研究では、 ELF (English as a Lingua Franca)環境の会話データを使って、回答の応答がどのように行われているかを談話分析の手法で分析を試みる。この観点では、英語母語話者の話し方との対照研究が行われることが多いが、ELF環境の会話データを用いることで、自分の母語とは異なる会話のスタイルが出てきた場合に、どのように対応し意味交渉を行いながら、会話が進められているかをみる。In the context of English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) interactions, it is often observed that Japanese participants may feel hesitant about taking their turns to speak. This hesitation can lead to other participants quickly taking turns, making it challenging for the Japanese participants to find opportunities to express themselves. This dynamic can sometimes result in misunderstandings, where other participants may wrongly perceive the Japanese individuals as disinterested or bored due to their predominantly listening behavior. This discourse analysis study examines interactions among groups of three to four participants from various countries, including Japan, Korea, India, and China. focusing on the answer part of question-answer sequences where Japanese participants are given opportunities to talk. Approximately five hours of video-recorded conversations were collected. Although the responses by Japanese participants had no significant delays and their answers maintained grammatical accuracy, they had no chance to develop their talk or give away their turn to the other participants soon. The discourse analysis revealed that Japanese participants frequently provided shorter answers than their counterparts from different countries, contrary to expectations. They usually missed the cues for elaboration. The analysis also extracts strategies to hold turns to develop one’s talk. This research contributes to English teaching, particularly in speaking and interactional skills, and its findings can be applied to the practice of question-answer sequences in English language instruction.departmental bulletin pape
A study of noise processing conditions of hyperspectral data for generating high color reproduction images for digital exhibition
Full text link東京工芸大学の写大ギャラリーには、１万点を超える貴重な写真プリント作品が展示されている。一部の作品は一般公開されているが、展示会場のスペースが限られているため、公開できない作品も多い。そこで、デジタル展示という新たな展示手段が期待されている。我々は、デジタル展示のために写真プリントの色を忠実に再現したデジタル画像を生成することを目的とした研究を続けてきた。本研究では、ハイパースペクトルカメラで測定したハイパースペクトルデータを用いている。しかし、ハイパースペクトルデータにはノイズが乗っていることがわかり、結果として写真プリントの反射率が１を超えるデータが存在することが問題となった。本報告では，次の３点：1）反射率が１を超えるデータの低減率，2）ノイズ処理後のハイパースペクトルデータの形状，3）生成画像の色合い、をもとに、適切なノイズ処理条件を検討した結果について述べる。There are over 10,000 valuable photographic print works stored in the SHADAI gallery of Tokyo Polytechnic University. The number of artworks that can be displayed in the gallery at a time is a small part of the collection due to the limited space of the exhibition hall. Therefore, digital technology is expected to provide a new means of displaying the works. Our research aimed at generating digital images that faithfully reproduced the colors of photographic prints for digital exhibition. The study used hyperspectral data measured by a hyperspectral camera to reproduce the colors of photographic prints. However, the data measured by the hyperspectral camera was fo皿 d to have noise on it. As a result, the estimated reflectance of the photographic prints image showed erroneous values. In this report, I discuss appropriate noise processing conditions with respect to three points: 1) reduction rate of erroneous reflectance, 2) shape ofhyperspectral signal after noise processing, and 3) hue distribution of the generated image.departmental bulletin pape
Spontaneous polarization due to flexoelectric effect in liquid crystalline elastomers prepared by cross-linking under shear deformation with bend distortion
Full text link液晶エラストマーは液晶の異方性とエラストマーの力学的性質を併せ持ち、ソフト固体でありながら液晶相の対称性に起因する物性や機能を持つ。一般にネマチック秩序を持つ系では広がり変形や曲がり変形下においてフレクソエレクトリック効果により分極が発生するが、低分子液晶では流動性のためすぐに消失してしまう。本研究では楔形の分子形状を持つコレステロール誘導体をメソゲンとして用い、せん断変形下で架橋することにより、配向ベクトルの曲がり変形を固定した側鎖型液晶エラストマーを作成し、フレクソエレクトリック効果による分極を検討した。Flexoelectric polarization in liquid crystalline elastomers with wedge-shaped mesogens was investigated. Flexoelectric polarization was fixed in the elastomers cross-linked under shear deformation with bend distortion. The electric charge caused by polarization due to the flexoelectric effect was estimated to be -1,172 pC/mm2 in bend-distorted liquid crystalline elastomers, whereas a small electric charge of less than -372 pC/mm2 was detected in non-oriented elastomers. We tentatively conclude that the macroscopic polarization due to the flexoelectric effect emerged and was fixed in the liquid crystalline elastomers by cross-linking under bend distortion.-departmental bulletin pape
Analysis and discussion of Haydn's Oratorio "The Seasons"
Full text linkこの小文ではフランツ・ヨーゼフ・ハイドンが作曲したオラトリオ「四季」（ドイツ語では“Die Jahreszeiten”、英語では“The Seasons”）に焦点を当てる。「ハイドンとその時代」について触れた後、ドナウ川の渓谷やウィーンの森などを背景としたオーストリアの四季に思いをめぐらせながら楽曲を分析し解説する。さらにオラトリオ「天地創造」の続編としてのオラトリオ「四季」という観点から物語を読み解くとともにモーツァルトの楽曲にも触れながら考察する。In this article, we focus on Franz Joseph Haydn's oratorio "The Seasons" ("Die Jahreszeiten" in German). After summarizing the life of Haydn and his era, this musical piece is analyzed and discussed while contemplating the four seasons in Austria and the sceneries of the Danube River valley and the forests of Vienna as the background of the musical piece. Furthermore, "The Seasons" is interpreted as a sequel to the oratorio "The Creation" referring to Mozart's musical pieces.departmental bulletin pape
Exploring New Information Education in Engineering to Develop 21st Century Skills
Full text link21世紀型スキルを持つ人材育成のための教育課程について、日本の初等・中等教育における情報教育の状況、求められる人材像を基盤に検討した。本論文はその検討結果の一つである博士前期課程の共通科目「ビジネスコンピューティング特論」を企画立案した経緯、具体的な内容、１年目の実践までについてまとめた。 博士前期課程の学生が対象であったとはいえ、履修登録者の取り組み姿勢は「ビジネスコンピューティング特論」で扱う内容に対する関心の高さ、需要について確かな手応えが感じられる結果となった。学んだことがそれぞれの研究活動に即座に生かせることも大きな要因だと考えられる。また、所属する研究室や専門分野が異なる学生同士の継続的な交流につながる人間関係ができたことは、アクティブラーニングを取り入れた授業としては最大限の成果が得られたものと考えている。We have designed a new course in the field of engineering to foster 21st-century skills. The course,named 'Advanced Business Computing,' has been newly established as a common subject in the master's program. Bird-worm seal script as Mark of Involvement : Style and “illeg ibility” in bronze inscriptions
Full text linkThis paper is a study of how the style and “illegibility” of the Bird-worm seal script’s function in the inscription of bronze vessels. The author has focused on the fact that many of the inscriptions written in Bird-worm seal script include the names of the vessels’ owner. The inscriptions on bronze vessels are a sign of the involvement of the owner. The author has shown the possibility that the stylization of the Bird-worm seal script was a means of duplicating the evidentiary force of the inscriptions, and has considered that the inscriptions were made “illegible” to avoid the name of the vessels’ owner being deciphered as symbols.departmental bulletin pape
The Development of an Instructional Program on Artwork Presentation in English
Full text linkThis study aimed to identify effective artwork presentation methods and produce an English vocabulary list for Japanese art students. For vocabulary, a list of terms in the field of filmmaking was created. From the Japanese terminology used in the video presentations of the Department of Interactive Media, we selected the most frequent and necessary vocabulary and compiled corresponding English expressions and example sentences. The characteristics of the completed vocabulary list are as follows: 1. Some expressions are specific to filmmaking, and others are common to other fields. 2. There are multiple corresponding English words and phrases due to the polysemy of the Japanese headwords. 3. There are relatively few advanced words. Regarding effective presentation methods, a presentation model was created by examining “good” elements from students' presentations given within the presentation class. This time, we modified the conventional presentation composition model and proposed a new model for artwork presentations, and the new element is “staging.” The “staging effect,” which was not considered in the conventional model, is considered essential for the presentation of artworks.
