No full textThis paper seeks to map the research trajectories in church law and, more broadly, in jurisprudence concerning Protestant churches, with a particular focus on the Reformed Church in Hungary. It highlights the various unexplored areas, aspects and sources of Protestant church law. To achieve these objectives, the study employs two primary methodological approaches: a public law historical approach and a legal-dogmatic analytical method. These two methodologies are inseparable from each other due to the role that the churches have played throughout legal history. Examples from the study illustrate that both these approaches complement and presuppose each other. Ultimately, the combined use of these methods facilitates clearer definitions and aids in the interpretation of contemporary issues in ecclesiastical law.
Celem niniejszego artykułu jest zarysowanie kierunków badań nad prawem kościelnym oraz – w szerszym ujęciu – nad jurysprudencją dotyczącą Kościołów protestanckich, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem Kościoła Reformowanego na Węgrzech. Uwaga skierowana jest na różne nieeksplorowane obszary, aspekty i źródła prawa kościołów protestanckich. Realizując cele artykułu, wykorzystano dwa podstawowe podejścia metodologiczne: historycznoprawne w perspektywie prawa publicznego oraz dogmatyczno-prawne. Obie te metodologie są ze sobą nierozerwalnie związane ze względu na rolę, jaką Kościoły odgrywały w historii prawa. Przykłady przywołane w artykule pokazują, że oba podejścia uzupełniają się i wymagają się nawzajem. No full textInterpretowana pół wieku po jej sformułowaniu Juliana Jaynesa hipoteza o powstaniu świadomości pozwala lepiej dostrzec niektóre problematyczne aspekty refleksji filozoficznej na ten temat. Po pierwsze, hipoteza ta pomaga przenieść uwagę z mniej istotnego problemu definicji świadomości na ważniejszy problem rozumienia człowieczeństwa. Po drugie, dokonanie historycznej interpretacji pochodzenia świadomości pozwala na nowo spojrzeć na człowieka jako na istotę żywą. Przede wszystkim jednak refleksja nad teorią Jaynesa zmusza do postawienia pytania, którego on sam nie formułuje – pytania o możliwy koniec świadomości w historii ludzkości.
Interpreted half a century after its formulation, Julian Jaynes’s hypothesis on the origin of consciousness allows a clearer appreciation of some problematic aspects of philosophical reflection on this topic. First, the hypothesis helps shift attention from a less important problem of defining consciousness to a more important one: that of understanding humanness. Second, a historical interpretation of the origin of consciousness enables taking a new perspective on human beings as living creatures. Above all, however, reflection on Jaynes’s theory makes us ask a question he himself did not pose: the question of the possible end of consciousness in the history of humankind

Przeprowadzono procedury eksperymentalne w paradygmacie empatii wobec bólu oraz torowania twarzy. Dane dotyczą komponentów ERP N2 oraz P3 jak również oceny behawioralnej obserwowanych przez osoby badane zdjęć.
Badania prowadzono w roku 2023 w ramach projektu naukowego "Adaptacja i Priming jako narzędzia modyfikacji neuronalnych korelatów empatii wobec bólu w odniesieniu do atrakcyjnych twarzy. Badanie EEG" finansowanego przez Narodowe Centrum Nauki (nr 2021/41/N/HS6/01044).

Data come from a sample of 53 young Polish adults (men and women), obtained in a laboratory study.
Experimental procedures were conducted in the empathy-for-pain and face-priming paradigms. The data include the N2 and P3 ERP components as well as behavioral assessments of the photographs observed by the participants.
The research was conducted in 2023 as part of the research project "Adaptation and Priming as Tools for Modifying the Neural Correlates of Pain Empathy for Attractive Faces. An EEG Study," funded by the National Science Centre (No. 2021/41/N/HS6/01044).

“Bloody + Emotions” – An Investigation into the Australian Exclamations and Expletives
No full textAustralian variety of English is known as very informal, often associated and even synonymous with slang. Hunter (2004: 5) wrote that Australians tend to be informal in their speech and behaviour, and one aspect of this informality is the extensive usage of slang.
One of the most prominent indicators of this informality is the adjective bloody used as an element of an everyday speech as a component of various compounds to intensify the speaker’s message or in numerous exclamations.
The purpose of this paper is to present the partial results of a survey carried out among young Australian Speakers with a view to investigating the case of bloody used as an intensifier, expletive and a part of a compound as well as to present other expletives and exclamations in current use.
The study sheds light on the most typical compounds used in exclamations as well as on the current state of bloody in comparison with other expletives

No full textNiektóre przekonania religijne członków społeczności Świadków Jehowy są sprzeczne z obowiązkami wynikającymi z prawa państwowego (takimi jak obowiązkowa służba wojskowa), co znajduje odzwierciedlenie w orzecznictwie Europejskiego Trybunału Praw Człowieka. Duża liczba spraw wniesionych przed Europejski Trybunał Praw Człowieka przez Świadków Jehowy spowodowała wzrost poziomu ochrony wolności wyznania i przyczyniła się do sformułowania standardów tej ochrony. Tekst obejmuje analizę wybranych orzeczeń, które zostały pogrupowane jako mieszczące się w ramach wolności religijnej w aspekcie indywidualnym (np. zagadnienie możliwości odmowy poddania się transfuzji krwi czy odmowy służby wojskowej z przyczyn religijnych) oraz w aspekcie instytucjonalnym (np. kwestia ochrony danych osobowych ujawniających wyznawaną religię czy regulacja praw i obowiązków wspólnoty religijnej). Celem analizy jest wskazanie ogólnych standardów ochrony wolności religijnej, które opracował Trybunał przy okazji orzekania w licznych skargach dotyczących Świadków Jehowy. Orzecznictwo to pozwoliło na doprecyzowanie zakresu ochrony przewidzianej art. 9 Konwencji (np. uznanie przez Trybunał prawa do przekonywania innych do swojej wiary) oraz obok wielu innych wniosków, wyraźnie wskazało na ciążący na państwach – sygnatariuszach Europejskiej Konwencji o ochronie praw człowieka i podstawowych wolności obowiązek zachowania pluralizmu religijnego i gwarancji wolności religijnej niezależnie od wyznania.
Some religious beliefs of the members of Jehovah’s Witnesses community are in conflict with the legal obligations under state law (e.g. mandatory military service), which is reflected in the European Court of Human Rights case-law. The large number of cases brought before the European Court of Human Rights by Jehovah’s Witnesses resulted in increase of the level of protection of the freedom of religious belief and contributed to create a standard of this protection. The study aim is to analyse select rulings divided into groups according to representation of religious freedom in the individual aspect (e.g. the issue of refusing blood transfusions or military service for religious reasons) or in the institutional aspect (e.g. the issue of protection of personal data revealing religion or belief or the regulation of rights and duties of the religious community). The aim of the analysis is to indicate the general standards of protection of religious freedom that the court has adopted when deciding on complaints concerning Jehovah's Witnesses. This jurisprudence has helped to clarify the scope of protection under Article 9 of the Convention (e.g. the Court's acceptance of the right to persuade others to one's faith) and, among many other conclusions, has clearly indicated the obligation of the signatory States of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms to preserve religious pluralism and guarantee complete religious freedom
Święty Józef według świętego Hieronima
No full textThe present study concerns what profile emerges and what consideration Saint Jerome has for Saint Joseph of Nazareth. The analysis considers the Dalmatian Doctor’s works in which he is most cited, but does not omit other writings where he appears. In fact, in addition to the Against Elvidius (383), the Jewish Questions (389/391), the Commentary on Matthew (393), a Homily on the Nativity of the Lord (400/410), mentions are found in commentaries on prophets or Pauline letters and one in The Illustrious Men (393). Even these occasional texts are sometimes interesting for assessing the importance of constant attention over time and a confirmation of the author’s thinking on the subject. Four themes emerge from the Hieronymic writings: the philology of the name ‘Joseph’; Joseph’s genealogy; Joseph’s virginity; the holiness of the ‘just’ Joseph. Jerome’s texts are made to speak, interpreting his message. In addition to being the first Father of the Church to assert the virginity of Saint Joseph, he is in fact also the Author who holds him in esteem as a man trusted by the Most High and a privileged role as a witness of the Incarnation for the redemption of the world.
Niniejsze studium dotyczy tego, jaki profil wyłania się i jakie względy święty Hieronim ma dla świętego Józefa z Nazaretu. Analiza uwzględnia dzieła Dalmatyńskiego Doktora, w których jest on najczęściej cytowany, ale nie pomija innych pism, w których się pojawia. W rzeczywistości, oprócz Przeciw Elwidiuszowi. Nieustanne dziewictwo Maryi (383), Kwestie żydowskie (389/391), Komentarz do Mateusza (393), Homilia o Narodzeniu Pańskim (400-410), wzmianki znajdują się w komentarzach do proroków lub listów Pawłowych i jeden w The Illustrious Men (393). Nawet te sporadyczne teksty są czasami interesujące dla oceny znaczenia stałej uwagi w czasie i potwierdzenia myśli autora na dany temat. Z pism Hieronima wyłaniają się cztery tematy: filologia imienia „Józef”; genealogia Józefa; dziewictwo Józefa; świętość „sprawiedliwego” Józefa. Teksty Jerome'a przemawiają, interpretując jego czasami ukryte przesłanie. Oprócz tego, że jest pierwszym Ojcem Kościoła, który potwierdza dziewictwo św. Józefa, jest on również autorem, który szanuje go jako człowieka zaufanego Najwyższemu i uprzywilejowaną rolę świadka dzieła Wcielenia dla odkupienia świata
Postdiluvian Worlds. The Modern Legacy of the Biblical Flood Narrative: On Rimbaud's “Après le Déluge” and Supervielle's L’Arche de Noé
No full textCet article analyse l’évolution du récit biblique du Déluge à l’époque moderne à travers deux réécritures : « Après le Déluge » d’Arthur Rimbaud et L’Arche de Noé de Jules Supervielle. Les auteurs modernisent profondément le sens éthique du texte biblique, s’éloignant aussi des réinterprétations romantiques comme « Le Déluge » de Vigny. Sous l’influence de l’esthétique symboliste et de l’imaginaire moderniste, le message originel se transforme. Chez Rimbaud, Dieu et Noé disparaissent : la catastrophe devient l’occasion d’une renaissance poétique, tournée vers l’immanence et la création. Supervielle adopte une tonalité burlesque et étrange, mêlant merveilleux et grotesque pour montrer un monde postdiluvien privé de certitudes spirituelles. L’étude mobilise la transtextualité (Genette), la notion de « sacre de l’écrivain » (Bénichou), l’imaginaire bachelardien et la sémiotique kristevienne afin de montrer comment l’éthique biblique s’efface au profit d’une spiritualité nouvelle, fondée sur la parole qui remplace le Verbe divin.
This article examines how the biblical narrative of the Flood evolves in the modern era through two rewritings: Arthur Rimbaud’s “Après le Déluge” and Jules Supervielle’s L’Arche de Noé. Both authors radically transform the ethical meaning of the original text, while distancing themselves from Romantic reinterpretations such as Vigny’s “Le Déluge”. Under the influence of symbolist aesthetics and modernist “imaginaire”, the biblical message is profoundly reshaped. In Rimbaud, God and Noah vanish; the catastrophe becomes the starting point for a poetic rebirth grounded in immanence and creative renewal. Supervielle adopts a burlesque and uncanny tone, blending the marvelous with the grotesque to depict a postdiluvian world stripped of spiritual certainties. The study draws on the tools of transtextuality (Genette), Bénichou’s notion of the “sacre de l’écrivain”, Bachelard’s imaginary, and Kristeva’s semiotics to show how biblical ethics give way to a new form of spirituality, one based on language that supplants the divine Word

No full textArtykuł zawiera propozycję analizy różnych polskich patriotyzmów jako działań kreatywnych i ich wytworu, co stanowiłoby antropologizację zagadnienia. Autor proponuje te kreacje interpretować w pięciu najważniejszych wymiarach: 1) racjonalizm i pragmatyzm przeciwstawiony spontaniczności i emocjom; 2) hierarchia struktury społecznej z jej opozycją: „Dół” i „Góra” albo „elity” i „lud”/„naród”; 3) codzienność przeciwstawiona odświętności; 4) oś czasu, „dawny” patriotyzm przeszłości i patriotyzm przyszłości, które to są na swój sposób obecne w teraźniejszości; 5) jedność narodowa przeciwstawiona pluralizmowi tożsamości, co bezpośrednio łączy się z przeciwstawieniem ekskluzywności i inkluzyjności poczucia więzi narodowej. Model analityczny proponowany przez autora traktuje patriotyzmy polskie jako mozaikę konkretnych procesów kreacji odnoszących się do tożsamości zbiorowej jednostek. Przebiegają one wielostronnie na wszystkich tych osiach przy oczywistej płynności granic tożsamości między centralnym ośrodkiem odniesienia grupy mającym charakter konstrukcji narodowej a jej formami zmiennymi przestrzennie (regionalnymi i lokalnymi), historycznie, środowiskowo i indywidualnie.
The article contains a proposal for analyzing various Polish patriotisms as creative actions and their product, which would entail an anthropologization of the issue. The author suggest interpreting these creations in five key dimensions: 1) rationalism and pragmatism opposed to spontaneity and emotions; 2) the hierarchy of social structure with its opposition: „The Bottom” and „The Top” or „elites” and „the people”/„nation”; 3) everyday life opposed to festivity; 4) a time axis, „ancient” patriotism of the past and patriotism of the future, which are in their way present in the present; 5) national unity opposed to pluralism of identity, which directly connects with the opposition of exclusivity and inclusivity of the sense of national bonding. The analytical model proposed treats Polish patriotisms as a mosaic of specific processes of creation related to the collective identity of individuals. These processes unfold multidimensionally along all these axes with an obvious fluidity of identity boundaries between the central reference point of the group, which has the character of national construction, and its spatially variable forms (regional and local), historically, environmentally, and individually
