    Get PDF
Malnutrition is one of the public health problems that existed during the pandemic; both problems, under and overnutrition, existed. Furthermore, malnutrition can worsen the infection in all groups, including children. The risk of being infected was higher in the malnutrition group than in the well-nourished one. This article aimed to review the risk of malnutrition and possibly related factors in children during the pandemic. This article used the literature review method and was conducted by the initial 2022 from several countries. The object included in the analysis was children's health and nutrition related. The source of articles highlighted the occurrence of malnutrition in children. The source of articles was from PubMed and Cochrane Library, which resulted in 21 eligible papers. The result of the study found that the identified possible factors are self-isolation, physical activity, dietary patterns, nutrient shortage, and socioeconomic factors. There was a shift in dietary patterns among children during the COVID-19 pandemic due to several factors. Those are the scarcity of food sources and compensation for the lockdown, and those findings confirmed the possibility of under- and overnutrition among children. In low-middle income countries (LMICs), the risk of malnutrition problems in this pandemic has heightened the magnitude of the public health problem. The mitigation program should overcome the existing problem to minimize the adverse effect of malnutrition among children

Dehydration can impair the operation of the body's organs and cause mortality because the human body is 60% water. The purpose of this study was to analyze factors related to hydration status. This study using a cross-sectional research design in a descriptive-analytical study. The study was conducted in the Nutrition Department of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara. The study was conducted from September to October 2020.  99 students were chosen at random to participate in the study. Respondent characteristics, physical activity, nutritional status, body composition, fluid intake, and hydration status were among the information gathered. Subject follow-up was carried out for 7 consecutive days. Positive relationships and significance between dietary status (p < 0,014), total body water (p < 0,018), muscle mass (p < 0,012), level of exercise (p < 0,003), and total fluid intake (p < 0,044) were found in the results of the multiple regression test. Additionally, a negative association and significance between visceral fat (p < 0,03) and body fat (p < 0,016) is discovered. Based on the test's findings, a determination coefficient with a value of 85,5% was calculated, meaning that 85,5% of factors influencing hydration status include dietary habits, body composition, visceral fat, total body water, muscle mass, level of exercise, and total fluid intake. Conclusion, nutritional status, total body water, muscle mass, physical activity, and overall fluid intake all have a positive correlation with hydration status. However, there was shown to be a negative correlation between body fat and visceral fat and hydration status

Diet development today tends to lead to accelerated growth of chronic diseases. Obesity plays a negative role in the development of chronic disease. This risk factor also occurs in the aging process. The condition of organ tissue dysfunction and cell death that occurs with aging also occurs in obesity due to chronic inflammation. This study analyzes the beneficial effects of applying Calorie Restriction (CR) or Energy Restriction (PE) to achieve a long life span, especially in obese individuals. This article is a literature review study with qualitative analysis by searching the PubMed electronic database from February to July 2021 and searching for articles through Meta-analysis, Review, and Systematic Review. Six articles have high relevance. References obtained were compiled and reviewed by summarizing and analyzed by triangulation. Furthermore, examining previous research's pros and cons finally gives alternative solutions. The results of the study showed the application of the PE method by reducing daily energy consumption without causing the risk of malnutrition because it still considers an essential nutrient. In conclusion, the benefits of PE have an impact on slowing down aging molecularly. Slowing down the aging process can increase a person's life expectancy

Sleep Deprivation (SD) reduced leptin levels, increased ghrelin levels, and it caused were multifactorial, so research was conducted on experimental animals to prove whether SD was the single factor causing changes in body weight (BW). The study's objectives were to know the difference in BW after induction of paradoxical and total SD and to observe the improvement in sleep recovery (SR). This study was true experimental with posttest only, and a control group design used 25 male albino rats randomly shared into five groups; control, PSD, TSD, PSD+SR, dan TSD+SR on  August – September 2021. The weight is measured by OHAUS®  balance. Statistical analysis used by One-way ANOVA and paired t-test denoted no significant difference after SD (p=0,277) and SR (p=0,297), a significant difference in the TSD+SR and TSD between before (p=0,014), after SD  (p=0,008), and after SR (p=0,034). Sleep deprivation increases BW through raised ghrelin, and SR  reverses the effects by increasing the antioxidant. Results must be confirmed by measuring ghrelin levels and leptin orexin type 1 and 2 receptors. In conclusion, that was a significant difference in the TSD+SR and TSD  between pre and post-sleep deprivation and the TSD+SR  between pre and post-SR.
