Nilai nutrisi ekstrak buah nipah dan pengaruhnya terhadap glucose transporter-2 (GLUT-2) pada tikus yang diinduksi STZ
Background: The nutritional content of nipah fruit such as zinc and fiber plays an important role in regulating blood sugar levels in diabetes patients (DM). One way to increase the concentration of nutritional value and bioactive substances in palm fruit is to extract it. Active compounds such as tannins, flavonoids, polysaccharides, saponins, and terpenoids in palm fruit extract can inhibit the activity of amylase and glucosidase enzymes, which are mediated by Glucose Transporter-2 (GLUT-2) so that they affect controlling blood sugar levels. GLUT-2 is a protein that plays a role in transporting glucose from outside to inside cells, so it plays an essential role in maintaining balanced blood sugar levels. Objective: This research aims to examine the nutrients in palm fruit extract and its effect on Glucose transporter-2 (GLUT-2) in STZ-induced in rats.Method: This study is experimental research using experimental laboratory methods carried out in the FKH USK laboratory in June 2022. Making nipah fruit extract is carried out by maceration using 95% ethanol. Carbohydrate, protein, fat, zinc, and Fe levels were analyzed using the Luff Schoorl, Kjeldahl, Soxhletasi, and AAS test method. Testing for water content and crude fibre uses a gravimetric test. Twenty-five rat samples were divided into four groups and induced with STZ 40 mg/kg BW. Checking blood sugar levels is needed to see hyperglycemic conditions in rats. GLUT-2 measurement after administering nipah extract for one month using the ELISA technique. The data obtained were analyzed by an ANOVA test. Results: Based on the results, it was found that fruit extract contained 15,79% carbohydrates, 7,04% protein, 6,02% fat, 0,0327% zinc, water content 24,05% and crude fibre 0,36%. The average GLUT-2 level in the control group was 7,24 ± 1,35 ng/ml, the DM group was 6,75 ± 0,81 ng/ml, the DM+extract group was 6,84 ± 0,56 ng/ml, the DM+metformin group was 7,34 ± 0,86ng/ml, and the DM+extract+metformin group was 6,93± 1,01 ng/ml.Conclusion: Nipah fruit extract contains carbohydrates, protein, fat and zinc. Administration of palm fruit extract for one month did not significantly effect on GLUT-2 in various groups of rats (0,83).

Knowledge and food habits of hypertensive adults after counseling using nutrition & hypertension flipchart at Tanjung Priok Public Health Center
Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that affects approximately 22% of the global population, as reported by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2019. It also affects adults and the elderly (63,49%) more than the younger population (13,22%). This study aimed to determine the differences in the knowledge and food habits of patients after counseling using nutrition and hypertension flipcharts. The research used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest. The research was conducted at the Tanjung Priok Public Health Center in 2022 with 30 outpatients with hypertension as respondents. Respondents who met the inclusion criteria were selected through accidental sampling. Knowledge levels were collected using questionnaires, and food habits were assessed using a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). Statistical analysis of the data was performed using a paired t-test (80% CI). The results showed a significant increase in the knowledge scores of patients, from 76,67 to 93,00 after counseling using nutrition and hypertension flipcharts (p <0,001). After counseling, descriptive analysis showed a reduction in the number of respondents who frequently consumed high-sodium and high-saturated foods. It was concluded that the knowledge levels and food habits of patients with hypertension can improve after counseling using nutrition and hypertension charts
The effect of EKORMIN on rats with diabetes mellitus model: effectiveness on fasting blood glucose, MDA, and insulin levels
Antioxidant use for additional diabetes mellitus therapy is growing, such as okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) and turmeric (Curcuma longa), which are rich in flavonoids and have beneficial effects on diabetes mellitus. This study aimed to determine the effects of okra turmeric extract (EKORMIN) on Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG), malondialdehyde (MDA), and insulin levels in diabetic rats. The research was conducted from December to January 2022 at PSPG UGM using experimental research with a pre-posttest-controlled group design. White male Wistar rats (n = 35) randomly grouped into five: negative control (STZ-NA), positive control (STZ-NA+metformin 1,8 mg/200 gBW), P1 (STZ-NA+EKORMIN low dose 130,5;110,5 mg/kgBW), P2 (STZ-NA+EKORMIN moderate dose 261;221 mg/kgBW), P3 (STZ-NA+EKORMIN high dose 522;442 mg/kgBW). The intervention lasted 14 days. Data analysis was performed using one-way analysis of variance statistical tests and post hoc follow-up tests. EKORMIN in all doses, EKORMIN reduced FBG and MDA levels and increased insulin levels (p0,05). The decrease in FBG (-167,05±-2,8 vs -175,86±-1,4 mg/dL) and MDA levels (-6,32±0,33 vs -7,98±0,07 nmol/ml) P3 was higher than P2. Similarly for increased insulin levels (121,47±3,03 and 164,09±4,48 pg/ml). EKORMIN was effective in reducing FBG and MDA levels and increased insulin levels in diabetic rats. EKORMIN has antidiabetic effects and has potential for type 2 diabetes mellitus treatment

Dampak serat terhadap produksi asam lemak rantai pendek pada penderita penyakit crohn
Background: Crohn's disease patients experience dysbiosis or an imbalance in the composition of microbes in the gut, in contrast to individuals who do not have Crohn's disease. The intestinal immune system has a very important role in Crohn's disease. Pathogenesis can be understood from the immune system by knowing the gut microbiota. Short-chain fatty acids are anti-inflammatory substances produced from the breakdown of soluble fiber in the intestines by certain microbiota species. Objective: The purpose of this literature is to determine the effect of fiber on short-chain fatty acids and to form the gut microbiota of humans with Crohn's disease. Methods: Systematic searches were conducted on Google Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct and Scopus. Randomised controlled trials evaluating the role of fibre were sought between 2020-2024 to determine the application of fibre therapies and interventions to patients with Crohm's disease (age is not restricted). Results: This literature study revealed that fiber may affect the composition of gut microbiota diversity in patients with Crohn's disease. Fiber increases the gut microbiota and produces short-chain fatty acids, especially increasing Firmicutes, Bifidobacteria, and Roseburia bacteria in Crohn's disease patients. In intestinal cells, short-chain fatty acids undergo cell proliferation, cell differentiation and gene expression. Short-chain fatty acids function as ligands that pair with G-proteins (GPCRs), including GPR41, GPR43 so that they activate the anti-inflammatory signal cascade. Conclusion: A wide variety of fermented fibers are able to produce the diversity of the intestinal microbiota of Crohn's disease patients and produce short-chain fatty acid molecules that can activate anti-inflammatory signals. Therefore, fiber as a prebiotic is very beneficial in maintaining the intestinal immune system in Crohn's disease patients
The associations of healthy eating index, sedentary lifestyle, and sleep quality with obesity in middle-aged and older adults in Semarang
The prevalence of obesity in Indonesia among adults in 2007 – 2023 has continued to increase from 10,5% to 23,4%. The causes of obesity are multifactorial, but those that have an essential role are diet and lifestyle. Weight gain is associated with unhealthy food intake, a lack of physical activity, and poor sleep quality. This study aimed to analyze the associations of AHEI (Alternative Healthy Eating Index), sedentary lifestyle, and sleep quality with the incidence of obesity. This research used a cross-sectional study among subjects aged more than or equal to 40 years, involving 153 subjects in Semarang in February 2024 and using purposive sampling. AHEI data were collected through an interview process using the SQ-FFQ in days to years, sedentary lifestyle using the SBQ in a week, and sleep quality using the PSQI in a month. Fisher’s exact and chi-square tests were used for bivariate analysis, whereas logistic regression was used for multivariate analysis. The results showed that a sedentary lifestyle on weekdays and weekends was associated with the incidence of obesity (p=0,000; OR=8,014) and (p=0,000; OR=18,516, respectively). In conclusion, a sedentary lifestyle is associated with incidence of obesity, while AHEI and sleep quality are not associated with incidence of obesity

Literature review dari randomized controlled trials (RCTs): Pengaruh prebiotik terhadap sistem kekebalan usus penderita diabetes mellitus tipe 2
Background: The gut microbiome, plays a crucial role in maintaining overall health. An imbalance in the microbiome (dysbiosis) can lead to various health issues, including type 2 diabetes. Prebiotics, as nutrients for gut microflora, have the potential to reduce dysbiosis and enhance gut immunity in type 2 diabetes patients. However, there is still limited research on the effects of prebiotics on gut immunity in individuals with type 2 diabetes. Objectives: To asses the effect of prebiotics on the gut immune system in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted using the PRISMA method, including full-text RCT articles from 2014-2024. Databases searched included PubMed, Scopus, MDPI, and Elsevier. Results: Studies show prebiotics significantly influence gut microbiota composition, especially increasing Bifidobacterium in type 2 diabetes patients, though overall diversity remained unchanged due to short study durations. Conclusion: Prebiotics enhance gut microbiota, particularly Bifidobacterium, in type 2 diabetes patients. This increase, along with the production of SCFAs, plays a role in lowering gut pH, supporting the growth of beneficial bacteria, and inhibiting pathogens. These findings suggest the potential of prebiotics as part of type 2 diabetes management; however, further research is needed to confirm their clinical application. Healthcare institutions are encouraged to develop educational programs emphasizing the importance of gut microbiota and the role of prebiotics in the health of type 2 diabetes patients
