Long Flat Continuous Conveyors without Critical Transfer Points
Conventionally, a series of several individual conveyors is necessary to realise long conveyor lines. This segmentation creates critical transfer points for the transport of goods. The number of transfer points and the overall height can be minimised by direct drives based on magnetic toothed belts and carriers attached to the mat chains. For example, a modular belt conveyor with an overall height of 100 mm and a width of 1 m can reach a length of well over 10 m. The friction between the mat chain and the sliding plane can be reduced by using alternative sliding partners such as a textile or a sliding support made of wood-based materials. These measures increase process and work safety and allow the system to be designed to be energy efficient
An Overview of Massive Open Online Courses with Topics of Robotics
This article reports short overview of massive open online courses for “robotic” topic. Extensive use of mobile devices opens up various opportunities for educational institutions to transfer contents to learners. Modern learners prefer to manage their learning by personal way. Many online courses are confirming this fact. Nowadays we can find unlimited number of contents on the internet. Almost all universities offer own online courses with various topics. In the last decade massive open online course (MOOC) became one of the opportunities to keep educated.
The robotics is main focus of this issue, therefore we are trying to conduct small study on online educational contents with this topic. We selected five MOOCs in our study. Main criteria of selection were personal experience of author with these MOOCs. An evaluation of MOOCs is not an aim of the article. Through this article we tried to make visible opportunities to get education on robotics free by online with your personal learning management time

Modeling the morphology evolution of organic solar cells
Organic solar cells present a promising alternative for the generation of solar energy at lower material and production costs compared to widely used silicon-based solar cells. The major drawback of organic solar cells currently is a lower rate of energy conversion. Thus many research projects aim to improve the achievable efficiency. In this work a phase field model is used to mathematically describe the morphology evolution of the active layer composed of polymer as electron-donor and fullerene as electron-acceptor. The derivation of a chemical potential term and a surface energy term for the polymer-fullerene solution using the Flory-Huggins theory forms the basis to employ the Cahn-Hilliard equation. After including several specifics of the application in this non-linear partial differential equation of fourth order, an implementation of the model using the FEM solver software FEniCS provides some simulation results that qualitatively match results from the literature
Evaluation of Signal Features used for Impact Localization on a Center Console with Piezoceramic Sensors
Smart components are increasingly of interest inresearch and industry due to their wide range of applications. Anexample of this is a current project of the Federal ExcellenceCluster MERGE, which is concerned with the development of acenter console that serves as a control element in an automobileand is executing actions by touching it. In order to facilitate thisfunctionality, it is necessary to evaluate the electrical signalsgenerated by piezoceramic sensors regarding to the localizationof the impact. In this respect, various signal features areinvestigated for their suitability using a support vector machine.The results show that an impact localization can be realized bythe energetic consideration of the signals but has limitations inthe practical usability
Comparison of acceleration methods of matrix calculations in embedded systems
In today\u27s algorithms for sound localization techniques, matrix calculations are ubiquitous. Therefore, this work deals with the analysis of matrix calculations and their possible realization on embedded systems. For this purpose, common acceleration technologies such as processors, GPU processing and acceleration with the help of FPGAs are compared. The results show that a graphics chip is capable to accelerate such a matrix vector multiplication compared to an implementation on a processor. Therefore a runtime of an implementation on an FPGA cannot be achieved by a GPU
A Resonance Tracking Approach from Adaptive Control
Resonance tracking is an approach to measuring concentrations, forces or viscosities. Such vibration-based measurements appear to be particularly well suited for applications at the micro- or even nano-scale. In order to monitor more than one parameter or parameter ratio simultaneously, a new kind of resonance tracking is developed with methods from adaptive control. It combines parameter estimation methods and state observers to adopt the resonant excitation to vibrating systems with time-varying parameters. At the same time, these parameters are measured. This approach is exemplified at two single-input-single-output (SISO) systems: a linear spring-mass-damper oscillator and a weakly nonlinear oscillator of Duffing-type
Using Virtual Prototyping Technologies to Evaluate Human-Machine-Interaction Concepts
Innovative products are interacting with the users based on smart sensors and algorithms. Logistics as one example is changing when automated guided vehicles are integrated in the process, supporting or even replacing workers. The way these products are interacting with humans and how they react to certain situations, will determine usability and user experience and therefore the success of use. Developing such products is based on innovative concepts that need to be evaluated and refined at early project stages. Using virtual-reality based user scenarios is one adequate option to do so. This paper describes technical as well as study-based approaches on how potential concepts are realized as virtual prototypes and evaluated by real users. It concludes with the evaluation results of a pilot study but also with general limitations and benefits as best practice advice for this kind of virtual prototyping techniques
Open Innovation - Die Chancen der Digitalisierung für die Integration von Kunden in Innovationsprozesse
Ein wachsender Anteil der Betriebe öffnet seine Innovationsprozesse, um durch die Vernetzung von Wissen die Innovationsfähigkeit zu erweitern und Produktentwicklungszyklen zu verkürzen. Auch um einen genauen Fit zwischen einem Produkt und den Kundenbedürfnissen herzustellen, nutzen Unternehmen vermehrt die Möglichkeit der Kundenintegration in den Innovationsprozess. Dabei entstehen im Zuge der fortschreitenden Digitalisierung ganz neue Möglichkeiten. Da Interaktionen einen wichtigen Erfolgsfaktor für eine gewinnbringende Kundenintegration darstellen, können neue Technologien als Instrumente zur Verbesserung des Austauschs dienen. Vor diesem Hintergrund wird dargelegt, wie virtuelle Communities, virtuelle Stimuli sowie mobile Endgeräte die digitale Kundenintegration in den Innovationsprozess unterstützen können. Anhand der erarbeiteten Vor- und Nachteile verschiedener Instrumente zur Kundenintegration wird diskutiert, in welcher Form durch die Digitalisierung die Quantität und Qualität von Interaktionen bei der Kundenintegration in den Innovationsprozess erhöht werden kann und wo es Einschränkungen geben könnte
Attribute des Lachens: Ein lexikalischer Ansatz
Lachen kommt in unterschiedlichen sozialen Situationen vor, wird von unterschiedlichen Arten von Stimuli ausgelöst und geht mit unterschiedlichen Emotionen einher – dies führt zu einer großen Variabilität von Lachen. Diese Variabilität spiegelt sich in der Sprache wider, die dazu verwendet wird, Lachen zu beschreiben: In der deutschen Sprache fanden sich in einer korpuslinguistischen Analyse mehr als 1000 Wörter, die für eine Beschreibung bzw. Differenzierung verschiedener Arten von Lachen gebraucht wurden. Auf dieser Grundlage konnte eine Klassifikation formaler Aspekte des Lachens entwickelt werden. Aufbauend auf dieser Klassifikation wurde in der vorliegenden Studie untersucht, ob 20 Adjektive, die affektive und motivationale Aspekte von Lachen beschreiben und die bereits vorher in der Forschung verwendet wurden, anhand der Dimensionen basaler Parameter (z.B. Dauer), Intensität, Klang, Einzigartigkeit und Regulation differenziert werden können. Eine hierarchische Clusteranalyse über die Einschätzungen von 81 Erwachsenen hinweg zeigte, dass fünf Cluster identifiziert wurden, die sich zum Teil deutlich in den gewonnenen Dimensionen unterschieden. Diese Ergebnisse weisen darauf hin, dass die über den lexikalischen Ansatz gewonnenen Dimensionen nützlich zur Beschreibung verschiedener Arten des Lachens und zum Einsatz in weiterer Forschung sind.Laughter occurs in different social situations, is triggered by different stimuli and can go along with a number of affective states. This variability is largely mirrored in natural language that is used to describe laughter: In a study using a lexical approach, more than 1000 different words used to describe laughter were identified. On the basis of this word list, a classification of formal attributes of laughter was defined. Building on these results, the present study investigates whether or not 20 adjectives describing affective and motivational states and that have been used in previous research can be described on the formal aspects of basic parameter (e.g. duration), intensity, sound, uniqueness and regulation. A hierarchical cluster analysis based on data of 81 participants showed that five clusters could be distinguished. Some of these clusters differed substantially in regard to the formal aspects. The results suggest that the dimensions based on the lexical approach are useful to characterize different kinds of laughter and can be used for future research
