Der Schlager, der Film und die 1950er Jahre: Überlegungen zur ‚Schlagersphäre‘ als Semiosphäre
Get PDFAusgehend von Lotmans Konzept der Semiosphäre wird für den Schlagerfilm der 1950er Jahre das Konzept einer Schlagersphäre modelliert und werden einige Grundthesen zum Verhältnis von Schlager und Schlagerfilm der 1950er Jahre dargelegt. Für das Semiosphärenkonzept des Austauschs, bei dem Neues/Fremdes im Eigenen einbezogen und so ständiger Wandel initiiert wird, bedeutet dies selbst, so eine der Thesen, dass das Semiosphärenkonzept für den Schlager nur imitiert wird, um die damit transportieren Semantiken des Offenen und des Fluiden konnotativ und zumindest symbolisch für sich rekrutieren zu können.Based on Lotman’s concept of the semiosphere, this paper models the concept of a specific ‘Schlager sphere’ for the Schlager film of the 1950s and presents some basic theses on the relationship between Schlager music and Schlager film of this period. The concept of the semiosphere generally describes an exchange in which something new/alien is integrated into the well-known, thereby initiating constant transformation. For the ‘Schlager sphere’, however, it turns out that it is insignificant for Schlager music that it itself is basically only a form of imitation. Thus, it carries semantics of the open and fluids and demands them at least symbolically for itself
Modeling of Inverse Time Overcurrent Relay Protection in Distribution Network
Get PDFThe reliable operation of the electric power system depends largely on the operation of relay protection and automation facilities. The primary equipment in electrical power systems, including generators, transformers, power transmission lines, and motors, relies on various types of protective relays, with overcurrent protection (OCP) being the most commonly used. Overcurrent protection can be divided into two main categories: definite time overcurrent protection and inverse time overcurrent protection. In our study, we focus on the relay protection systems used in the Baganuur branch of the Baganuur South-East Region Electricity Distribution Network (WESRDN), where most systems utilize definite time overcurrent protection. This type operates with a fixed time characteristic regardless of the magnitude of the fault current or the length of the line. However, it has the drawback that the protection time increases as it approaches the generator in series-connected lines and equipment. In contrast, inverse time overcurrent protection can adjust its timing characteristics based on the size of the fault current, which helps to overcome the earlier mentioned problem when applied to line equipment protection. Therefore, based on the example of the Baganuur branch\u27s distribution network, we modeled the primary circuit and inverse time overcurrent protection using DigSILENT PowerFactory 15.1 software, and an analysis of the experiment results was conducted

These properties facilitate easier handling and higher payload capacities, especially beneficial for deep hoisting applications. Standards such as SABS 0294 (South Africa) and TAS (Germany) highlight the suitability of these fibers for mining hoists. Mechanische Eigenschaften von Polyoxymethylen (POM) aus recycelten Post-Consumer-Abfällen
Get PDFAls Werkstoff für Kunststoffketten in Stetigförderern wird sehr häufig Polyoxymethylen (POM) eingesetzt. Nach der Nutzung im Fördersystem werden die Ketten derzeit im Restmüll entsorgt. Um einen geschlossenen Materialkreislauf entstehen zu lassen, sollen diese zukünftig nach ihrer industriellen Anwendung recycelt werden und als Ausgangsmaterial für neue Kunststoffförderketten dienen. In Vorgängerprojekten konnte bereits die prinzipielle Eignung des Recyclingmaterials für die Herstellung neuer Ketten nachgewiesen werden [1] [2]. Zielstellung eines aktuellen Projektes ist die Überführung der Recyclingketten vom Prototypenstatus in ein marktreifes Produkt. Im Beitrag wird insbesondere auf die mechanischen und tribologischen Eigenschaften der Kettenwerkstoffe aus recyceltem Material im Vergleich zu Standardketten aus neuem Granulat eingegangen. Es wird aufgezeigt, dass sowohl mechanisch als auch tribologisch nur sehr geringfügige Unterschiede bestehen, welche für den industriellen Einsatz der Ketten aus Recyclingmaterial keinen Einfluss besitzen

Get PDFÜberwachungssysteme können durch private und durch öffentliche Stellen eingesetzt werden. Rechtliche Grundlagen und Grenzen wurden durch den europäischen Gesetzgeber mit der Datenschutz-Grundverordnung (DS-GVO; Verordnung (EU) 2016/679) und der Richtlinie zum Schutz natürlicher Personen bei der Verarbeitung personenbezogener Daten durch die zuständigen Behörden zum Zwecke der Verhütung, Ermittlung, Aufdeckung oder Verfolgung von Straftaten oder der Strafvollstreckung (JI-RL; Richtlinie (EU) 2016/680) geschaffen. Diese sehen auch Kontroll- und Rechtdurchsetzungsmöglichkeiten für die Datenschutzaufsichtsbehörden vor. Die Gewährung von hinreichender Transparenz ist gerade im Bereich der Videoüberwachung eine zentrale Fragestellung. Ausgehend von der Diskussion der Rechtskonformität der datenschutzrechtlichen Vorgaben selbst wird in diesem Bereich die Art und Weise der Informationserteilung diskutiert. Hierbei bleiben Potenziale der datenschutzrechtlichen Vorgaben weitgehend ungenutzt.Monitoring systems can be used by both private and public bodies. The European legislator created the legal basis and limits with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR; Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and the Directive on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data by competent authorities for the purposes of the prevention, investigation, detection or prosecution of criminal offences or the execution of criminal penalties (Directive (EU) 2016/680). These also provide control and law enforcement possibilities for the data protection supervisory authorities. The granting of sufficient transparency is a central issue, especially in the area of video surveillance. Based on the discussion of the legal conformity of the data protection requirements themselves, the way in which information is provided is debated in this field. Zur ikonischen Erinnerungskultur des Rikschafahrers in den Gedächtnismedien der europäisch-jüdischen Emigranten in Shanghai in den 1930er und 1940er Jahren: eine kultursemiotische und gedächtnismediale Perspektive

Die schriftlich und visuell kodierte fremdkulturelle Erinnerungsikone fungiert als Symbol der Primitivität und Inhumanität sowie als Sinnbild der werktätigen Bevölkerung in Shanghai. Sie tritt zugleich als Emblem der lebensbedrohenden Leiden und als Indiz der hierarchischen sowie kolonialen gesellschaftlichen Ordnung in Shanghai auf. Diese vielfältigen semiotischen Implikationen des Rikschafahrers sind durch kulturbedingte Werte und Denkmuster, mannigfaltige Diasporazustände in Shanghai und divergierende kulturelle sowie politische Identitäten der europäisch-jüdischen Emigranten formiert.The article takes the perspective of cultural semiotics by Roland Posner as well as the concept of medium of collective memory by Astrid Erll and analyzes the iconic memory culture of the rikshaw driver in the memory media of European-Jewish emigrants in Shanghai in the 1930s and 1940s. The coded memory icon in written and visual form functions as a symbol of primitivity and inhumanity as well as a symbol of the working people in Shanghai. It emerges as an emblem of life-threatening suffering and as a sign of the hierarchic and colonial social order in Shanghai. The various semiotic implications of the rickshaw driver are formed by cultural-determined values and patterns of thought, diverse diasporic states in Shanghai and divergent cultural and political identities of European-Jewish emigrants

Get PDFDer folgende Aufsatz beschäftigt sich mit der Fragestellung, wie sogenannte Dark Posts die politische Kommunikation auf Social Media Plattformen wie Facebook geprägt haben und welche Eingriffe durch Facebook unternommen wurden, um diese Art von Posts zu kennzeichnen und darauf aufmerksam zu machen. Es wird ebenso beleuchtet, warum Dark Posts eine Gefahr für den politischen Diskurs darstellen und welche Auswirkungen diese Form der politischen Kommunikation haben kann. Zu Beginn des Aufsatzes wird mit dem sogenannten ‚Nudging‘ eine moderne Methode der psychologischen Beeinflussung vorgestellt, welche Rezipient*innenunter dem Radar der sachlichen Darstellung zu bestimmten Handlungen oder Einordnungen verleiten kann. Im Zusammenspiel mit Microtargeting, welches die passgenaue Ansprache einzelner Personen ermöglicht, steht Werbenden so ein wirkmächtiges Tool zur Beeinflussung von Wähler*innen zur Verfügung. Diese ethisch mitunter fragwürdige Methode wird durch die auf Facebook möglichen ‚Dark Posts‘ auf die Spitze getrieben. Denn sie ermöglichen es, die passgenaue Ansprache vor anderen Nutzer*innen zu verstecken. Genauer betrachtet werden soll, welche Schritte Facebook bereits veranlasst hat, um für mehr Transparenz und Nachverfolgbarkeit zu sorgen. Durch den zwingend erforderlichen Disclaimer, welcher den Werbenden nur mit vorheriger Identitätsfeststellung zur Verfügung steht und der Kennzeichnung als beworbenen Inhalt, wird schnell ersichtlich, wann es sich bei einem Beitrag um finanzierte politische Werbung handelt. Bei den Sanktionen für manipulative Postings fährt Facebook einen Mittelweg. Zwar erfolgt nur in den seltensten Fällen eine Löschung der Inhalte, dafür werden diese jedoch mit Kontextinformationen versehen und ihre Reichweite stark begrenzt. Insgesamt konnte nachgewiesen werden, dass Facebook zahlreiche Maßnahmen zur Bekämpfung von manipulativer politischer Werbung unternimmt.The following essay deals with the question of how so-called dark posts have shaped political communication on social media platforms such as Facebook and what interventions have been made by Facebook to mark and draw attention to these kinds of posts. Furthermore, it is examined why dark posts pose a threat to political discourse and what effects this form of political communication can have. At the beginning of this article, a modern method of psychological manipulation in the form of ‘nudging’ is presented, which can induce recipients under the radar of factual presentation to take certain actions or classify them. In combination with microtargeting, which allows for the precise targeting of individual recipients, advertisers have a powerful tool at their disposal for influencing voters. This ethically sometimes questionable method is taken to the extreme by the ‘Dark Posts’ that are possible on Facebook because they make it possible to hide the precisely tailored address from other users. We will take a closer look at what steps Facebook has already taken to ensure more transparency and traceability. The mandatory disclaimer, which is only available to the advertiser with prior identification, and the labelling as advertised content make it easy to see when a contribution is financed political advertising. Facebook takes a middle course when it comes to sanctions for manipulative postings. Although content is only rarely deleted, it is provided with contextual information and its reach is severely limited. Overall, it has been proven that Facebook takes numerous measures to combat manipulative political advertising

Get PDFDas vorliegende Themenheft der Zeitschrift für Semiotik untersucht die komplexen Beziehungen zwischen Zeichen, Zeichensystemen, Medien und Kommunikation. In interdisziplinärer Perspektive reflektieren die Beiträge die theoretischen und methodologischen Grundlagen dieser Konzepte, um deren analytische Differenzierung und empirische Untersuchung zu fördern. Besonderes Augenmerk liegt auf der Analyse multimodaler Phänomene, wobei etablierte semiotische und textlinguistische Methoden adaptiert und weiterentwickelt werden. Gleichzeitig wird die Bedeutung praxeologischer Ansätze betont, die neue Perspektiven auf multimodale Praktiken eröffnen. Die strukturelle Verbindung von Zeichenmodalitäten und Medien sowie deren Einfluss auf situative Kommunikationspraktiken wird umfassend untersucht. Durch die Integration unterschiedlicher disziplinärer Ansätze sollen theoretische und empirische Diskussionen um Multimodalität und Medialität vertieft und neue methodologische Ansätze entwickelt werden. Ziel ist es, eine transdisziplinäre Anschlussfähigkeit zu erreichen, die das semiotische Projekt in seiner Tradition fortführt und den interdisziplinären Dialog fördert.The present issue of the “Zeitschrift für Semiotik” examines the complex relationships between signs, sign systems, media, and communication. From an interdisciplinary perspective, the contributions reflect on the theoretical and methodological foundations of these concepts to promote their analytical differentiation and empirical investigation. Particular attention is given to the analysis of multimodal phenomena, adapting and advancing established semiotic and text linguistic methods. Simultaneously, the significance of praxeological approaches is highlighted, offering new perspectives on multimodal practices. The structural connection between sign modalities and media, as well as their impact on situational communication practices, is comprehensively examined. By integrating diverse disciplinary approaches, the aim is to deepen theoretical and empirical discussions on multimodality and mediality and to develop new methodological approaches. The goal is to achieve transdisciplinary compatibility, continuing the semiotic project in its tradition and fostering interdisciplinary dialogue
