Neoliberal urbanization has spread rapidly since the 1980s, initiating social and spatial change processes in urban areas. These changes have also had an impact in Turkey, causing a wide range of transformations from the physical structures of cities to people's lifestyles and daily practices. Yüksel Street in Ankara is important in terms of seeing how neoliberal policies affect public spaces and how they transform social structure in the urban context. This study will explain how the conventional practices of Yüksel Street have adapted to neoliberalization, and will show how spatial consumption practices have been affected through the example of Eylül Cafe on the street.by Yağmur Çeli

Cataloged from PDF version of article.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 118-137).The present study aims to comprehend the relationship between English preparatory school students’ anxiety and motivation. In order to achieve this aim, this quantitative study will first examine the correlation between foreign language anxiety (FLA) and motivation of English preparatory students. Then, it will explore to what extent FLA can predict students’ intrinsic and extrinsic motivation when controlling for gender, university type (foundation/state), and students’ enrollment reason (by choice/compulsory) to preparatory schools. To be able to widen the scope of comprehension of the predictive roles, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation of students will also be tested as predictors of FLA with the same controlling variables. The sample consists of 136 Turkish students. Two surveys were used: the Turkish translation of Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (Gürsu, 2011) and the Motivation Scale for Learning English (Aktaş & Gündoğdu, 2018). Scale results showed .938 and .848 Cronbach’s Alpha results, respectively. The present study first presents the frequencies according to the surveys’ answers. Then, through Spearman correlation, it was found that there is a negative and significant (p < .001) correlation between anxiety and motivation (-.386). In addition, through multiple regression tests, the predictive roles of the factors were tested. According to the results, regardless of the controlling variable, intrinsic motivation showed a significant inverse predictor role for predicting FLA (p < .001). The same applied for FLA’s prediction of intrinsic motivation (p < .001). The present study concluded that there is a significant negative relationship between English preparatory school students’ anxiety and motivation.by Zeynep Bayazi

The subject of this project is determined as the woman sculptures in turkey, the sculptors’ representation and the transformations they underwent between the years of 1965 2000. One of the influential politicians Turkey has raised and had a big influence on the populace is Ünal Özgödek. He began his career as a governor after earning his degree in politics, serving in a number of cities. Ünal Özgödek's respect for his country and its people is demonstrated by his ability to serve as a district governor in a tense situation, such as Siverek during an election, or as a governor in Hatay during a period when the terrorist problem escalated, and to do all of this while gaining the respect of the public and the government. As governor of Niğde, Ünal Özgödek used a conciliatory policy to resolve conflicts between Niğde and Aksaray, which is one of the most prominent features of his administrative style. Through initiatives for historical artifact preservation, educational investments, and infrastructure upgrades, he left behind enduring artifacts in the communities where he served. He won the respect of the people everywhere he went because his work showed how important he thought it was to preserve cultural heritage.by Erdinç Ofl

Cataloged from PDF version of article. The increasing impact of the climate crisis and the growing prevalence of the concept of sustainability at both national and global levels have made it necessary to impose certain obligations on organisations in order to offer solutions to environmental and social problems. Joint stock companies, which play a key role in the functioning of the economy, are among the organisations most affected by these obligations, as they are expected to contribute to the achievement of corporate sustainability goals. Sustainability reports, which have emerged as a common result of the changing expectations of stakeholders over time and legislative action, are reports through which joint stock companies disclose their impacts on the environment, the economy, and society. As regulated under Turkish law, these reports may lead to the liability of the members of the board of directors of joint stock companies, due to legal relationships established both within the company and with third parties.by Rana Cevahi

Cataloged from PDF version of article.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 47-51).Evaluating developer contributions is essential for effective resource allocation and recognizing expertise. Traditional metrics—such as lines of code (LOC) or commit counts—lack sufficient context, as code varies in complexity and importance. Reusable code, however, is a key indicator of quality and can serve as a better metric for contribution evaluation. Our goal is to develop a methodology and practical tool to assess developers’ reusable code contributions in software projects. Inspired by Hirsch’s H-Index used in academia, we introduce the Developer H-Index (DH-Index), which tracks method usage through project-wide call graphs, analogous to academic citations. These usage references are linked to individual developer contributions. We further propose the Lines-of-Code- Weighted Developer H-Index (LWDH-Index), which incorporates method length to account for the significance of reused code. We implemented this approach in DevScholar, an open-source prototype that analyzes Java project repositories to extract method-based developer metrics. We evaluated DevScholar against GitHub Insights using two Open-Source Software (OSS) projects: Spring Boot and Apollo. The LWDH-Index proved more robust, reducing the distortion caused by overly simple but frequently reused methods or complex methods used sparingly. Additionally, we conducted a user study with an international airline company, analyzing three internal projects. Our findings suggest that, compared to traditional LOC- or commit-based metrics, DH-Index and LWDH-Index offer richer insight into the impact and quality of developer contributions, particularly in terms of code reusability. This contributes to a more nuanced understanding of developer performance in team-based software development.by Yahya Elnoub

Ülkücü söylemde dini milliyetçiliğin doğuşu ve yükselişi, 1969-1980

Cataloged from PDF version of article.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 94-102).This dissertation investigates the ideological evolution of the Ülkücü movement from 1969 until 1980, emphasizing its gradual evolution from Turkish nationalism enriched with instrumental Islamic sources to a fully articulated religious nationalist discourse. Through a discourse analysis of core Ülkücü-affiliated journals published between 1969 and 1980, this dissertation argues that Islam, which initially functioned as a legitimizing repertoire of nationalist ideology, increasingly became the primary frame for thinking politics, society, and identity. Adopting Barbara-Ann Rieffer’s typology of “instrumental pious nationalism” and “religious nationalism,” the dissertation identifies that the Ülkücü movement evolved from the strategic use of Islamic symbols to an Islamic social and political order drawn from divine sources. This reorientation did not have any top-down or purely strategic character. Even as Nationalist Action Party (MHP) leader Alparslan Türkeş embraced Islamic themes for electoral legitimacy, Islamic content proliferation remained largely at the initiative of grassroots Ülkü Ocakları (Idealist Hearths) actors. These actors, often very devout, reinterpreted the ideological confrontation with the left as a sacred cause—a cihad—with fallen members as martyrs and communism as part of an international materialist front ranged against Islam. By the late 1970s, Islam had become the ideological foundation of Ülkücü identity and vision, defining the movement as vanguard of Muslim Turkish revivalism. This dissertation makes a contribution to religious nationalism scholarship as it provides a complex example of how nationalist and religious discourses become entangled at times of political crisis, ideological division, and mass mobilization.by Mustafa Ceyhun Tufa
