AGAMA DALAM PROSES KEBANGKITAN ADAT DI INDONESIA: Studi Masyarakat Rencong Telang Kerinci Jambi

    Get PDF
After the fall of the New Order, Indonesia witnessed a political revival of traditions. Four factors have been identified as that lead to the revival: first, orchestrated campaigns by local and international NGOs to protect traditional communities’ access to lands and natural resources; second, as efforts by local elites to fill the power vacuum after the centralist new order government ended; third, struggles by local groups that suffered marginalization during the previous regime to reclaim their rights; finally, efforts by local groups to adopt alternative social norms in organizing their communities.  However, a more detailed description on how these revivals carried out is difficult to find. This article put forward such a description, in the case of the Rencong Telang community in Kerinci, Jambi. After almost two decades of decline, the authority of Adat can finally be restored after the corrupt elites have been replaced. Interestingly, it was personal religiosity that served as the criterion to replace them, while leadership accountability always failed to do so. This finding will also enrich the discussion on the relationship between adat and religion beyond conflict and harmony.

    Get PDF
This research is a qualitative research. The aim is finding out the role of reason in understanding laduni knowledge. In this case laduni knowledge is the same as intuition. The relationship of reason and intuition which is essentially always in an interactive condition, first seeing the types of knowledge that can be captured by humans. According to al-Ghazali there are four kinds of levels of existence (being). First. The metaphysical form, according to him, is summarized in the Mahfudh letter. Second, empirical forms in the concrete world (alam syahadah). Third, imaginary (imaginative), and fourth, rational form (al-ma’qulat). The relationship of reason and intuition, al-Ghazali made a parable of people who gained knowledge with reason likened to a child and those who obtained knowledge with intuition were likened to (al-mumayyiz). The parable above implies the existence of a level between the two and does not mean there is a separation between each. If this is related to the theory of the human ratio (al- nafs al-natiqoh) after being able to capture a priori or dharuriyyat knowledge, in turn it shows two abilities, namely, the ability to produce knowledge through understanding (through) feeling . The first is creative-methodical-systematic, while the second is creative-non-systematic-systematic. Thus, it is clear that the nature of both knowledge comes from the same source as the derivative of the soul and therefore both are contained in human intellectuality

    Get PDF
The main focus of Orientalist thought is nothing but to reconstruct and influence Islamic civilization. Their enthusiasm to activate orientalism is increasingly challenged by the presence of Islam as a religion that has followers of most of the world\u27s population. One of the actions of orientalism towards the Islamic world is to start a research movement on the Qur\u27an and al-Hadith which are the basis of the law and guidelines of Muslims. Not far from the critics of the Qur\u27an and al-Hadith, they also deconstructed aspects of the development of science, Islamic law, and even the originality of Islamic history. Some famous orientalism figures, one of them is Reinhart Dozy, a famous orientelism from the Netherlands with the concept of literacy in the history of Islamic civilization in Spain. Even though he received a lot of criticism and appreciation from both orientalists and Muslim thinkers, his literary work has had a great influence on Islamic civilization. The discussion steps of this study are entirely carried out using qualitative research that is library research. To be more useful and function properly, this paper is equipped with an explanation using the method of description, interpretation and analysis of data in each discussion. This is done, none other than to focus the discussion to produce a consistent and comprehensive understanding

MENCARI KALIMATUN SAWA DALAM PLURALISME AGAMA (KAJIAN DALAM PERSPEKTIF ISLAM)

Religious pluralism in Indonesia is a necessity that cannot be avoided because it adheres to diversity. As we know that in Indonesia there are six religions recognized by the government namely (Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Catholicism and Kong hu chu) and every Indonesian citizen must embrace one of these religions, besides that human beings themselves are part of pluralism itself, so we live in pluralism.Normatively, doctrinaire of religion always teaches kindness, love and harmony. But sociological reality shows the opposite, religion is actually used as a source of ongoing conflict, both internal and external conflicts, such as clashes between the Early Church Christians with Jews, Christians with adherents of Roman religion (imperial religion) in the first century to the third century. Not much different from that in Indonesia, so we need to find a meeting point or Sawa sentence, looking for a conducive and prospective approach to the realization of sacred religious values (fundamental values) to be applicable solutions in looking at this plural future.

AIDS as God’s Punishment: Examining Ibn Majah’s Sexual Ethics And Implication of Transgression

    Get PDF
There are still many religious communities who regard AIDS as a curse and punishment from God. Where do the assumptions and discourse come from? And what are the consequences of these assumptions. This paper then sees that one of these assumptions resulted from the Sunan Ibn Majah (number 4019) where there is the word Fahisha. But in the end of our article, we conclude that the Hadith in Ibn Majah is far from talking about divine punishment, rather about the Tawhid according to which Muslims should behave in this world. The Tawhid serves as Islamic morality that is extended from the individual to the social. The Hadith as a whole is basically dealing with social problems as a result of social ignorance to the principles of the Tawhid, which consist of liberation of human consciousness, human equality and social solidarity as the basis of Islamic morality

INTERPRETASI SUFISTIK ATAS HADIS MELALUI SASTRA DALAM SYAIR PERAHU KARYA HAMZAH FANSURI

    Get PDF
The understanding of hadith is so far still dominated by hadith scholars with various methodologies and approaches that have been standardized in conducting studies on the hadith. Understanding of hadith is not only performed by hadith scholars but also by Sufism scholars. One of the applications in understanding hadith by Sufism scholars is done through poetry media. One of the figures included in this category is Hamzah Fansuri that can be seen from his works, One of which is the "Syair Perahu" (the boat poem). Syair Perahu loads hadith contents such as faith, knowledge, preparing charity towards the afterlife, Barzakh eschatology, and tawhid values. Syair Perahu is full of signs used as symbols in conveying prophetic messages, such as boats, merchants, sea, islands, and so on. To find the content of the meaning contained in the Syair Perahu, the writer will apply Charles S. Peirce\u27s semiotic theory. The results of this study found that literature, in this case Syair Perahu, became a medium to convey meaning understood by interpretant. This study also found the tendency of the Sufis represented by Hamzah Fansuri towards hadiths that have eschatological nuances. Hamzah Fansuri\u27s understanding of the hadith in the Syair Perahu rejected the assumption of some people that his Sufism understanding deviated from correct understanding. Through the study of semiotics, Hamzah Fanzuri used the type of icon and index signs by using ligisign representamen, which indicated that he maintains the principles of meaning by paying attention to signs close to the intended meaning in the text of the hadith
