This article discusses Abdullah Saeed\u27s thought on contextual exegesis of the Quran. The background of Abdullah Saeed\u27s thought on the importance of conducting contextual exegesis was based on the solid domination of literal (textual) commentary of the Quran, particularly regarding ethics-legal verses. Based on Saeed\u27s point of view, ethic-legal verses commentary must account for social changes to support the close relationship between Quran and the current Muslims. Several intellectual figures influenced Abdullah Saeed\u27s thoughts related to contextual exegeses, such as Fazlur Rahman, Ghulam Ahmad Parvez, Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd, Mohammed Arkoun, Farid Esack, and Khaled Abou El Fadl. The theoretical foundations of the Quran contextual exegesis proposed by Abdullah Saeed can be traced back through his notion on revelation concept, the flexibility of meaning, and text meaning as a commentary.

The notion that the Qur\u27an is always relevant all the time and space can also be applied to hadith. Its due to hadith itself, in fact, is an embodiment of Qur’anic teachings which means it comes from God’s revelation-Allah directly. Therefore, the slogan should not only be comprehended on rhetoric limitation, but rather be applied in religious life, national life, and state of life regularly. Considering the length of time and space in which starting from the emergence of Hadith until nowadays, of course, the gap between the hadith and the reader space was founded. Furthermore, added with the dark stories and dark histories in the past such as the phenomenon of hadith forgery, of course, it adds to the tension and the extent of the gap. According to the fact as mentioned, lead the researcher to conduct this study. Moreover, as a form of problem-solving to minimize the gaps, it really necessary attempts. Maintaining the values of hadith and the main objectives of hadith is the answer that can be pursued through two important attempts, there are: The first one is contextualization and revitalization of the hadith message. This step is carried out to reveal the fundamental message of the hadith in order to answer the gap as well as a bridge time and space, and the second one is applying it to the ulumul hadith principles, such as asbabul wurud and also is influenced with local wisdom. Furthermore, the scope of this study not only limited to focusing on studying the reconstruction of interpretations of hadith but also includes information on how to produce meaning and apply the concept of contextualization of the hadith\u27s message. In addition, studying of how to explain the contextualization of hadith with the context of contemporary Indonesia through the reinterpretation and reproduction of the meanings of three phenomena; 1) the unification of the hijriyah calendar in Indonesia, 2) the reading of sighat ta\u27liq for the bridegroom, and 3) the inheritance of different religions

The development of Quranic translation in Indonesia generally showed the total adoption of the fixed theological words and phrases of the Arabic-Qur’an as loanword in the translation work. For some local communities, it does not make them easier in understanding the messages of the Quran through its “untranslated” words and phrases. So, some parties within Muslim communities tried to translate them using the local language. Cakepan Suci Al-Qur\u27an Salinan Ring Basa Bali by I Wayan Rupa Mengwi is one of the Qur’an translation into local languages, it is the first Balinese translation of the Qur’an, which prefer to translate them rather than to borrow them in translation. But it remains questions how the author vernacularized some “fixed theological terms and phrases” of the Arabic-Qur’an into Balinese and why did he chose to “translate” them rather than to “borrow” them in his translation work? The result showed that (1) it used terminological approach to vernacularize some fixed terms and phrases, (2) The special appeal of using Balinese words and phrases when translating selected Qur\u27anic words and phrases is to reflect typical local beliefs (Balinese), as well as to carry out da\u27wah through a socio-cultural approach. Even though, this pattern reflects the platform and strategy of international Ahmadiyya movement through the translation of the Qur\u27an, but this work is not connected formally under the organization program of Ahmadiyya

Meanwhile, the text is the dominant element used as a medium of delivery in the arena of narration of hadith. The meaning, content and understanding of a hadith are explained in a narrative manner through the arrangement of words and sentences. Instead of clarifying the meaning and understanding of a hadith, the abundance of texts in the writing work actually makes the possibility of the emergence of multiple interpretations even greater. On the other hand, this reality becomes even more counter-productive when it is known that human cognitive work actually relies on “imagery” (al-tasawwur) work. In other words, explaining with pictures is actually more effective than explaining with text. And this kind of momentum is fully held in digital products and content, including animated cartoons. This paper will focus on observing the visualization of hadith understanding in Riko The Series cartoons. Not only explaining how it works, this paper also intends to test the validity of the semantics in the work of the visual narrative

This article examines how Tarekat Qadiriyah wa Naqshabandiyah (TQN) utilizes online media to strengthen its existence. As an integral part of the Islamic revival in Indonesia, Sufi orders (tarekat) are facing remarkable challenges and opportunities in maintaining their existence in the digital era. Nevertheless, previous studies observed Sufi orders as a traditional community that would be exterminated by the pace of modernization and globalization. This article argues that Sufi orders may survive in the internet of things era, contrary to preceding discourses. Based on ethnography research, both online and offline, the authors found out that the vitality of the Sufi order can adapt, develop, and innovate using online media. TQN\u27s use of online media through various platforms proves Sufi order’s adaptive efforts to the internet-based era. TQN’s online media provide informations on Islamic  and Sufism teachings, news, schedule of activities, and fundraising. Even though TQN members’ being active in cyber-Islamic environments, they resist online asceticism thus leverage the vertical-personal obedience, conservative authorities, and sacred rituals. These practices done by TQN members illuminate its identity as an authentic online sufism. Premises shown in this paper may enrich the scope of study within the relationship of Sufi orders and Islamic-cyber environment, especially in Indonesian context

Philosophical tasawuf is regarded by ahl al-sunnah wa al-jama\u27ah scholars as the deviation from the Koran and hadith and is considered heretical teaching. Though, in philosophical tasawuf there is doctrine of wahdat al-wujud which is the basis of the theory of Insan kamil which is the theory of perfect human being. The climax of the theory of Insan kamil is one initiated by Abd al-Karim al-Jili. Abd Al-Karim Al-Jili in al-Insan al-Kamil fi Ma\u27rifah al-Awail wa al-Awakhir gives new ideas related to the development of Insan kamil theory by providing justification of sufistic-oriented hadiths to strengthen the argument of Insan kamil theory. This study analyzes the book al-Insan al-Kamil fi Ma\u27rifah al-Awail wa al-Awakhir by Abd al-Karim as a primary source to find answers of questions about the concept of insan kamil which was initiated by al-Jili; How did al-Jili position the hadith in the concept of insan kamil; and how was the source, quality of sanad and style of meaning. To achieve this goal, this study uses the structural exegesis method as an analysis tool to find the influence of interpretation of the text with the interpreter\u27s experience in the context that surrounds him. The way Al-Jili responded to the criticism of the ahl al-sunnah wa al-jama\u27ah scholars related to Philosophical tasawuf is to list and make the hadith of the Prophet as the basis in building the concept of Insan kamil. Generally, the hadiths he used were valid in terms of hadtis methodology accepted by hadits schoolars, only few of them used Sufi hadiths methodology which were not accepted in the hadith scholarly methodology, such as the method of narration through dreams and mukasyafah. Al-Jili built the concept of insan kamil based on the most basic Islamic teachings, namely the pillars of Islam, the pillars of faith, and the teachings of spiritual ethics as a process to reach the level of insan kamil. Al-Jili added spiritual meaning to the various ritual actions he performs. Therefore, al-Jili combined zahir (outer) and bathin (inner) dimensions of worship. Keywords: Insan Kamil, al-Jili, hadith, Sufis

This article describes about the original dimensions of al-Farabi\u27s Islamic political philosophy by comparing it with Plato\u27s political philosophy. The originality of philosophical thought in Islam was questioned critically by the orientalists. Orientalists had claimed that Islamic philosophy is simply a diversion from Greek philosophy. However, Islamic philosophy is an elaboration of classical Greek philosophical thought. In the hands of Muslim philosophers, Greek philosophical thought reached perfection. So that it cannot be said that Islamic philosophical thought is only diversion of Greek philosophy. This elaboration effort appears in the thought of Al-Farabi\u27s political philosophy which is considered very Platonnic. In this case, there are fundamental differences between Platon\u27s political philosophical thought and the political philosophy thought was built by Al-Farabi. The difference lies in their analysis of the ideal leader, the goals of the state, and the classification efforts of good and bad governance political regimes. Through these differences, it can be seen that Al-Farabi\u27s political philosophy has its own characteristics, that is a combination of faith and philosophy

Pendidikan Seks Bagi Anak: Pendekatan Hermeneutika Ma’na cum Maghza terhadap QS. Al-Nūr: 58-59

Sexual violence and casual sex that has recently been rife in Indonesia cannot be separated from the low understanding of sex from an early age. This is supported by Indonesian culture that places sex as taboo and something not to be discussed with children. This article is an attempt to uncover textual justifications from the Qur\u27an regarding sex education for children. The method used in this study is the hermeneutic approach of ma\u27na-cum-maghza which will be applied to QS. Al-Nur: 58-59. The result of this study is that sex education for children is mandatory, as reflected in QS. An-Nur: 58-59. After further analysis, the foundation on sex education is also found in QS. An-Nur: 27 and the several hadiths of the Prophet as presented in this paper. Understanding sex education for children does not mean teaching sex to children, but educating them about their existence as biological beings. This is expected to be used as one of the preventive efforts in terms of preventing children from sexual violence.
