The Discourse of Women’s Religious Leadership in Hinduism and Buddhism
In Hinduism and Buddhism, religious leadership is commonly associated with men. However, historical evidence shows that women had become religious leaders, though their appearance was marginal and not publicly visible. With the rise of modernity, the existence of female religious leadership has begun to be publicly recognized and visible. Though there have been patriarchal elements and practices in Hinduism and Buddhism, the two religions have provided spaces and opportunities for women\u27s religious leadership. This article, thus, seeks to comparatively examine the discourse of women’s religious leadership in Hinduism and Buddhism. In what ways and contexts can Hindu and Buddhist women be religious leaders? What constitutes women\u27s religious leadership in the two religions? This article argues that both Hindu and Buddhist traditions are ambivalent about female religious leadership. While the religious leadership of Hinduism is charismatic, non-institutionalized, and highly dependent on public recognition, that of Buddhism, by contrast, is institutionalized and significantly determined by the established rules of Buddhist monastic institutions (Sangha). The divergent models of religious leadership suggest different ways in which female religious leaders are recognized.

Al-Quran dalam Diskursus Hedonisme: Analisis Kritis Ayat-ayat Hedonis dalam Tafsir Fi Zilail Quran Karya Sayyid Qutb
The flow of interpretation often becomes \u27commonplace\u27 when examining the dynamics of Qur\u27anic exegesis, particularly in the classical and medieval periods. Sayyid Qutb, in his work Tafsir fi Zilal al-Qur\u27an, is believed to incorporate a da\u27wah narrative aimed at disseminating a comprehensive understanding of Islamic law. His interpretation reflects the historical context and personal experiences of the Mufassir, which influenced his interpretative style. For instance, materialism and hedonism are seen as underlying factors that have led to certain interpretative perspectives, phenomena that remain prevalent in society today. Therefore, this study seeks to uncover the da\u27wah narrative in Sayyid Qutb\u27s interpretation and explore his response to the phenomenon of a hedonistic lifestyle, specifically referring to QS. al-Hadid: 20, QS. al-An\u27am: 32, QS. al-Qasas: 32, and QS. at-Takathur: 1-2. To achieve this, the research employs a qualitative methodology, utilizing content analysis as a data analysis tool. The study\u27s findings reveal Sayyid Qutb\u27s efforts to uphold Islamic reform by opposing life systems that marginalize Islamic values, such as materialism and hedonism. In Sayyid Qutb\u27s perspective, hedonism is addressed through advocating for a balanced approach that harmonizes worldly pursuits with the values of the hereafter.
Intertekstualitas Tafsir: Mengungkap Keterpengaruhan Anwār at-Tanzīl terhadap Al-Kasysyāf dalam Pemaknaan Kata Auliya
The interpretation of the word auliya in Islamic exegesis is a significant issue because it is linked to concepts of loyalty, friendship, and leadership within a religious framework. The classical tafsir works, Anwar at-Tanzil and al-Kasysyāf, provide differing perspectives on the meaning of auliya. This article seeks to bridge this gap by examining the interpretation of auliya in Anwar at-Tanzil and al-Kasysyāf and tracing the influence of one upon the other using Julia Kristeva\u27s intertextuality approach. Employing a thematic method, this study focuses specifically on the meaning of auliyaas its primary subject of analysis. The findings reveal that al-Baiḍawī\u27s interpretation of auliya is heavily influenced by the earlier interpretation found in al-Kasysyāf. Through Kristeva\u27s intertextuality framework, it becomes evident that the principles of parallelism, modification, and expansion or haplology play a dominant role in this influence. The prevalence of these principles points to a tendency towards transposition as an ideologeme, marked by the inclusion of elements of addition, subtraction, adjustment, and the reorganization of ideas in al-Baiḍawī\u27s interpretation of auliya
Ideologi dalam Bahasa Mufasir: Analisis Marji’ al-Ḍamir pada Tafsir al-Kasysyāf Karya az-Zamakhsyari
The methodology can be used in the interpretation of the Qur\u27an is ra’y, means ijtihad. In order to produce a correct methodologically interpretation, ra’y should be accompanied by certain requirements and methodological steps, such as knowing the rules of interpretation and linguistic sciences. Al-Kasysyaf is one of many interpretation books have been criticized by the strong ideological tendencies of its commentator. It can be seen in the interpretation of verses which have ideological content. Since Al-Zamakhsyari, the commentator, was also known by his expertise in language and literature, it raises a question, what if the verses contain ideology are not possible to be interpreted according to i’tizal when follows the rules of linguistic? This question is what the author intends to examine. This study aims to the implementation of the rule of marji‘ al-dlamir in verses mention the word man yasya’. After using both linguistic approach and theological approach to determine the direction of the interpretation produced by Al-Zamakhsyari, the study found that the rule of marji‘ al-dlamir is still applied thoroughly. However, the result of interpretation still has the nuance of i’tizal because of the takwil used by Al-Zamakhsyari

Teologi Transformatif Pemikiran Moeslim Abdurrahman
This article explains transformative theology according to Moeslim Abdurrahman. In essence, theology is not only a problem with God but is closely related to social problems. The assumption that the scope of theology is only in the vertical realm requires a more serious review because this is a very narrow view. Theology should provide space to pay attention to social conditions in society, to see social inequality, injustice, and oppression. Then proceed to read the social structure critically, to find the cause of the social problem. The re-reading of Islamic theology is carried out so that it remains relevant to the times, able to solve existing social problems. This research is a literature study using qualitative methods, to analyze the data using an interpretation method, while the approach uses a social approach. The results of this research are the essence of transformative theology according to Moeslim Abdurrahman, the methods of transformative theology, and the goals of transformative theology

Conception of Islam in the Religious Study (The Analysis of W.C Smith’s Thought)
Wilfred Cantwell Smith is one of scholars of religion who tries to compose a concept with vague delineation related to Islam as religion. It is in essence much related to the word piety, in turn related much to Iman as instrument through which human grasps the consciousness and fact of God, manifested in Submission to His will. Smith starts by deconstructing religion both as a term and concept, including Islam as species of religion. What is understood as religion is basically nothing on earth, and yet the phenomena of religiousness is easy to discover, namely as response to the Divinity. Such understanding is referred to personal and individual experience. Smith, therefore, understands Islam as self-entity and distinguishable from other, emphasized on several meanings of Islam, 1. Islam is personal submission (in the form of verbal noun, it is ideal and true sense), 2. Islam which is embodied in community (it is refied sense from sociological lens produced by cumulative tradition), 3. Islam in terms of institutionalism that its adherents refer to, be manifested in al-Qur’an and al-Hadits through which its name and all teaching come into being (since it is the fruit of cumulative tradition which adheres to historical process, it is therefore mundane)
KRITIK MU’TAZILAH TERHADAP SISTEM FILSAFAT IBN SINA: ANALISIS PEMIKIRAN TAKLIF IBN AL-MALAHIMI
The Mu\u27tazilites were considered to have close relationship with Muslim philosophers and because of this, many thought that the two had share poin of vies. However, this is not always the case. There are philosophical teachings that contradict to concept of Mu\u27tazilite theology. This gave birth to a theological critique of the Mu\u27tazilite against philosophy. Therefore, this article attempts to analyze the Mu\u27tazilah criticism of Ibn Sina\u27s philosophical system focusing on the study of Ibn al-Malahimi\u27s analysis of taklif written in his book intended to criticize philosophy, Tuhfat al-Mutakallimin fi al-Radd \u27ala al-Falasifa. There are two reasons for studying the issue of taklif: first, the concept of taklif is the central doctrine of the Mu\u27tazilah because it relates to important concepts such as rewards and punishments, prophetic purposes and human actions. Therefore, it is important to study the Mu\u27tazilite criticism leveled at Ibn Sina on the issue of taklif. Second, the discussion about taklif is not found in the 20 points of criticism raised by al-Ghazali in his Tahafut Falasifah and therefore it can provide valuable insight of the theologian\u27s assessment of the philosopher. This paper argues that Ibn al-Malahimi\u27s purpose to present Ibn Sina\u27s thoughts in the realm of taklif is his strategy to expose Ibn Sina\u27s thoughts that are contrary to the Mu\u27tazilah doctrine. Through the discussion of taklif, Ibn al-Malahimi can uncover several interrelated issues such as the purpose of prophethood, the concept of reward and punishment and most importantly, reveal the deterministic understanding of human action held by Ibn Sina and his followers
