    Adaptasi Bahasa Sunda dalam Al-Amin Al-Qur’an Tarjamahan Sunda: Menelusuri Interaksi Budaya dalam Proses Penerjemahan Al-Qur\u27an

    This study examines the application of vernacularization in Al-Amin\u27s translation of the Qur\u27an, aiming to understand how the adaptation of the Sundanese language influences the comprehension and reception of sacred texts within the local cultural context. The research focuses on the use of both buhun (ancient) and kiwari (modern) languages in the translation, with the goal of aligning the Qur\u27anic text with Sundanese cultural wisdom. Employing content analysis and Sally Engle Merry\u27s theory of vernacularization, the study investigates how language adaptation reflects the interaction between the Qur\u27anic text and Sundanese culture. The findings indicate that Al-Amin\u27s translation effectively integrates local cultural elements through the use of buhun language to preserve cultural identity and contemporary language to ensure relevance for modern readers. This balance between tradition and modernity facilitates greater understanding within the local community. Additionally, the research reveals that vernacularization not only addresses linguistic issues but also enhances the understanding of the sacred text by aligning its meaning with the social realities of Sundanese culture. This contributes significantly to translation and cultural interaction studies, demonstrating how Qur\u27anic translation can act as a bridge between source and target cultures and expand our understanding of how sacred texts are adapted to local contexts

    KRITIK IBRAHIM M. ABU RABI’ ATAS PERSEPSI ISLAMOFOBIA BARAT

    Islamophobia symptoms significantly emerged among Westerners after the attack on the World Trade Center in the United States on September 11, 2001. Furthermore, the gap between the ideals of Islam as a religion of peace and the Western perception of Islam as a violent religion has become an issue that needs addressing. This research employs a qualitative method based on literature sources, focusing on the thoughts of Ibrahim M. Abu Rabi’, who proposes an approach in religious studies to correct Islamophobia. The research is conducted through literature sources, documents, archives, and similar materials. Ibrahim M. Abu Rabi’ emphasizes the importance of studying Islam through historical and sociological religious approaches. Through the "historical" approach, the study and empirical-historical-critical religious approach are expected to reduce the levels and intensity of violence and tension among religious believers, although not claiming to eliminate them entirely. Ibrahim M. Abu Rabi’ also recommends the necessity of dialogue between Islam and the West. This dialogue, indirectly, will revive the tradition of intellectualism that is free, dialogic, innovative, creative, and egalitarian between these two compass points. Keyword: Ibrahim M. Abu Rabi’, Historical Approach, Religious Sociology   Gejala Islamophobia banyak muncul dari orang-orang barat setelah terjadinya serangan terhadap WTC di Amerika Serikat pada 11 September 2001. Selain itu kesenjangan antara cita-cita Islam sebagai agama perdamaian dengan konteks kehidupan Islam yang dipandang oleh barat sebagai agama kekerasan sudah menjadi isu yang muncul dan harus diselesaikan. Penelitian ini dengan metode kualitatif yang berdasarkan sumber kepustakaan terhadap pemikiran Ibrahim M. Abu Rabi’ yang menawarkan pendekatan dalam kajian keagamaan untuk meluruskan Islamofobia. Penelitian dilakukan melalui sumber pustaka, dokumen, arsip, dan lain sejenisnya. Ibrahim M. Abu Rabi’ menekankan pentingnya kajian Islam melalui pendekatan historis dan sosiologi keagamaan. Melalui pendekatan “historis”,studi dan pendekatan agama yang bersifat empiris-historis-kritis diharapkan mampu mengurangi kadar dan intensitas kekerasan dan ketegangan antara sesama pemeluk agama, tentu tidak juga berpretensi untuk menghilangkan sama sekali. Ibrahim M. Abu Rabi’ juga merekomendasi pentingnya dialog antara Islam dan Barat. Dialog ini secara tidak langsung akan menghidupkan kembali tradisi intelektual yang bebas, dialogis, inovatif, kreatif sekaligus egaliter antara kedua arah mata angin ini. Kata kunci: Ibrahim M.     PENDEKATAN BURHANI DALAM PEMENUHAN NAFKAH SKINCARE DAN KOSMETIK DALAM ISLAM

    The wife\u27s need for skincare and cosmetics has become the latest discourse in the framework of the fulfillment of maintenance by the husband to the wife. This study aims to examine the perspectives of classical and contemporary scholars on the fulfillment of skincare and cosmetic maintenance for wives in Islam and explore the use of burhani epistemology in reconstructing the law on the fulfillment of skincare and cosmetic maintenance. The method used in this research is library research with a descriptive-qualitative approach. The results of this study are (1) Skincare which is a necessity to maintain the cleanliness of the wife\u27s skin so it must be fulfilled based on the agreement of the scholars of 4 madhhabs related to maintenance of body hygiene. However, the fulfillment of cosmetic nafkah is not mandatory, except in the Maliki school of thought, provided that the wife requires it; (2) The fulfillment of skincare and cosmetics maintenance by husbands can be analyzed using burhanu epistemology with the al-Qiyas al-Jam\u27i and tahlili methods. The al-Qiyas al-Jam\u27i method draws an analogy between basic needs and modern needs, while the tahlili method breaks down these elements for in-depth analysis of product halalness, health benefits, and psychological impact. With this burhani approach, the fulfillment of skincare and cosmetic needs is considered an integral part of the husband\u27s maintenance responsibilities, supporting the wife\u27s physical, mental and emotional well-being in accordance with maqasid sharia. Keywords: Burhani Epistemology; Nafkah; Skincare; Cosmetics.   Kebutuhan istri akan skincare dan kosmetik menjadi diskursus terkini dalam kerangka pemenuhan nafkah oleh suami kepada isteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji perspektif ulama klasik dan kontemporer tentang pemenuhan nafkah skincare dan kosmetik bagi istri dalam Islam serta mengeksplorasi penggunaan epistemologi burhani dalam rekonstruksi hukum pemenuhan nafkah skincare dan kosmetik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi kepustakaan (library research) dengan pendekatan deskriptif-kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu (1) Skincare yang merupakan kebutuhan untuk menjaga kebersihan kulit istri sehingga wajib dipenuhi berdasarkan kesepakatan ulama 4 mazhab berkaitan dengan nafkah kebersihan badan. Namun, pemenuhan nafkah kosmetik tidak wajib dipenuhi, kecuali dalam mazhab Maliki, dengan ketentuan apabila istri mensyaratkannya; (2) Pemenuhan nafkah skincare dan kosmetik oleh suami dapat dianalisis menggunakan epistemologi burhanu dengan metode al-Qiyas al-Jam’i dan tahlili. Metode al-Qiyas al-Jam’i menarik analogi antara kebutuhan dasar dan kebutuhan modern, sedangkan metode tahlili memecah elemen-elemen tersebut untuk analisis mendalam mengenai kehalalan produk, manfaat kesehatan, dan dampak psikologis. Dengan pendekatan burhani ini, pemenuhan kebutuhan skincare dan kosmetik dianggap sebagai bagian integral dari tanggung jawab nafkah suami, mendukung kesejahteraan fisik, mental, dan emosional istri sesuai dengan maqasid syariah.     KAJIAN LIVING QUR\u27AN ATAS PEMBENTUKAN KELUARGA ISLAMI DALAM TAFSIR AL-MISBAH

    This study addresses the challenges faced by Muslim families in applying Qur\u27anic values in the modern era. Amid globalization and rapid social changes, many Muslim families struggle to balance spiritual values with modern life demands, often leading to internal conflicts, decreased quality of relationships among family members, and difficulties in maintaining family harmony and sustainability. This research aims to analyze the Qur\u27anic values relevant to Islamic families, focusing on the Tafsir Al-Misbah by M. Quraish Shihab, which provides a deep and contextual interpretation of Qur\u27anic verses related to family. The research employs a qualitative method with a documentation study approach, collecting data through literature review and in-depth analysis of Tafsir Al-Misbah. The theory used is the Living Quran theory, which emphasizes the importance of applying Qur\u27anic teachings in daily life as practical guidance. The findings reveal that Tafsir Al-Misbah highlights fundamental values such as compassion, justice, effective communication, and responsibility as key pillars in forming a harmonious and prosperous Islamic family. These findings are expected to enrich understanding of the application of Qur\u27anic teachings in the family context and provide practical guidance for Muslims in improving family life quality. Di tengah arus globalisasi dan perubahan sosial yang cepat, banyak keluarga Muslim mengalami kesulitan dalam menjaga keseimbangan antara nilai-nilai spiritual dan tuntutan kehidupan modern, yang sering kali berujung pada konflik internal, penurunan kualitas hubungan antar anggota keluarga, serta ketidakmampuan dalam mempertahankan keharmonisan dan keberlanjutan keluarga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis nilai-nilai Al-Qur\u27an yang relevan bagi keluarga Islami, dengan berfokus pada tafsir Al-Misbah karya M. Quraish Shihab, yang menawarkan interpretasi mendalam dan kontekstual terhadap ayat-ayat Al-Qur\u27an yang berkaitan dengan keluarga. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi dokumentasi, di mana data dikumpulkan melalui telaah literatur dan analisis mendalam terhadap Tafsir Al-Misbah. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori Living Quran, yang menekankan pentingnya penerapan ajaran Al-Qur\u27an dalam kehidupan sehari-hari sebagai pedoman praktis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Tafsir Al-Misbah menyoroti nilai-nilai fundamental seperti kasih sayang, keadilan, komunikasi efektif, dan tanggung jawab sebagai pilar utama dalam membentuk keluarga Islami yang harmonis dan sejahtera. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat memperkaya pemahaman tentang aplikasi ajaran Al-Qur\u27an dalam konteks keluarga dan memberikan panduan praktis bagi umat Islam dalam meningkatkan kualitas kehidupan keluarga.     Is Islamic Philosophy ‘Islamic’? : A Critical Exploration Through the Qur\u27anic Narratives

    This paper critically examines the ongoing debate surrounding the Islamic nature of Islamic philosophy by engaging with key Qur\u27anic narratives and philosophical discourses. The central question addressed is whether Islamic philosophy can genuinely be classified as “Islamic”, considering its amalgamation of Greco-Roman and Persian intellectual traditions. In common, Islamic philosophy addresses themes familiar to broader philosophy, but it does so from an Islamic perspective, using the language and context of Islamic civilization. By analyzing the works of prominent Muslim philosophers, including al-Farabi, Ibn Sina, and al-Ghazali, the study explores how their interpretations and methodologies align—or diverge—from the foundational texts of Islam. Additionally, this paper highlights how Qur\u27anic narratives have been employed within Islamic philosophical thought to construct ethical, metaphysical, and theological frameworks. In conclusion, the “philosophical discussion of Islamic issues” is considered to be representative term for Islamic philosophy as it captures its essence and clarifies debates about its origins, actors, and focus discussions.

    The Development of Qur’anic Thematic Exegesis in Indonesia: Historical Landscape and Shifts of Authority

    Recognizing that thematic Qur\u27anic interpretation has become the most prominent method in the modern era, this study aims to track its evolution in Indonesia. Despite its popularity in academic contexts, there remains a critical gap in examining its application outside of universities. This study focuses on the shifts in interpretative authority and methodology in thematic Qur\u27anic exegesis across different sectors, including the state, Islamic boarding schools, universities, and individuals. Using a critical analysis method, the study uncovers several key findings. Firstly, there has been an authoritative shift, where Qur\u27anic commentators in Indonesia are not limited to traditional mufassir but now include scholars from non-religious fields. Secondly, methodological shifts are evident in several aspects: the editorial framing of interpretations, the reduction in the selection of Qur\u27anic verses used as primary research data, and the emergence of distinct interpretative tendencies. Additionally, there has been a paradigm shift in the relationship between Qur\u27anic text and social reality, where one approach begins with the Qur\u27an and leads to an idealistic-normative interpretation, while another starts from social reality and results in an applicative-solutive interpretation. This research fills a crucial academic gap by highlighting the broader changes in thematic exegesis, offering insights into its evolving methodologies and its relevance in addressing contemporary social realities in Indonesia

    Not only as a second guide after the Qur\u27an, some Muslims treat the hadith of Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhāri in a unique and unusual manner; read in turns without explanation like the practice of reciting the Koran. In contrast to reading the Koran, which has religious values (worship, intercession, and others), there are no hadiths or the Koran that encourage the reading of hadiths. Using a social history perspective, the paper attempts to explore how the early emergence and development of the practice of reading hadith Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhāri in the Islamic world and how hadith (text) exists in the social practices of Muslims. As a practice that spatializes the sound of hadith texts (living hadis), this paper finds four forms of classification of transmission-transformation of hadith reading practices: 1). Hadith reading in the tradition of hadith transmission, has emerged from the beginning as a method of teaching and spreading hadith. 2). The reading of hadiths in healing practices in the 3H century, was carried out by Ahmad bin Mashur al-Ramadi. 3). In the 7H/13M century, reading appeared and the use of Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhāri as a protective practice in the social space, as an intermediary for the personification of the Prophet to God in answering the problems faced by Muslims. 4). The reading and use of Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhāri developed into a routine annual tradition in the 8H/14AD centuries; Rajab; Sha\u27ban; Ramadan; dry months.     The urgency of the Prophet\u27s hadith often clashes with practical politics, so its meaning is no longer independent and is more directed towards individual and group interests. Indirectly, there is a reduction in meaning and purpose, so it is important to research this matter. In this paper, the researcher examines the hadith of the Prophet saw on riwayah of Imam Muslim no. 1320 in Riyād al-Sālihīn, to answer at least two problem formulations; 1). What is the formal legal form of hadith Muslim narration no. 1320 in Riyāḍ al-Ṣāliḥīnand 2). What is the form of politicization of hadith in practical political practice in the contemporary era. The method used is qualitative analysis, which is descriptive with a contextual-historical approach. The results of this study show that the hadith as the second holy text after the Qur\u27an has a strategic position in the belief of a Muslim and confirms the formal legal "prohibition" of politicizing hadith because it can urge the ralization of religious values

    Saksi-Saksi Yehuwa adalah sebuah gerakan anti-trinitarian yang tengah berkembang secara global dengan sejumlah doktrin teologis yang kontras dengan denominasi Kristen pada umumnya. Melihat Saksi-Saksi Yehuwa lebih dekat diperlukan untuk mewujudkan peta diskusi teologis yang lebih baik dalam Kristologi, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguraikan kesucian darah dalam pandangan Saksi-Saksi Yehuwa mengikuti skema Hierophany yang dirumuskan oleh Mircea Eliade (wafat 1986). Guna mencapai itu, penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan antropologis dalam bentuk analisis wacana dan konten untuk menemukan inti pembahasan yang terkait dengan subjek. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa kesakralan darah dalam denominasi Saksi-Saksi Yehuwa dapat diklasifikasikan sebagai bagian dari Hierofani, mewujudkan manifestasi dari item suci dengan konteks teologis Saksi-Saksi Yehuwa ynag memaknai Kehidupan itu sendiri. Kedudukan Darah yang ditinggikan dalam Saksi-Saksi Yehuwa menyiratkan larangan pembunuhan dan konsumsi darah dalam bentuk apapun, termasuk perawatan medis melalui transfusi darah.     This article explores the integration between John Locke\u27s concept of tabula rasa and ecological education for Sunday School children in the Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP) Church. Titled "Growing Faith in Action," this research investigates how Locke\u27s philosophical concept of the mind as an empty "tabula rasa" filled with experience and learning can be applied in the context of children\u27s growing faith. This research focuses on ecological education as a means for Sunday school children\u27s faith growth that involves their understanding of their relationship with nature and the surrounding community. The concept is applied specifically in the context of HKBP Sunday School, highlighting the church\u27s efforts to deliver religious teachings and facilitate hands-on experiences that can shape children\u27s faith. Combining Locke and Susan Power Bratton\u27s thoughts on ecological education and the ecclesial context, this article offers insights into how faith can develop through concrete action and experience, creating a solid foundation for children\u27s spiritual growth in an ecologically conscious and active learning ecclesial environment
