Consumers’ Intentions to Buy Energy-Efficient Household Appliances in China
This study investigates the intentions of Chinese consumers to buy electrical household products labeled as highly energy-efficient, using induction cookers as a case study. Data were collected from June to August 2019 using an online survey among Chinese residents (N = 189) recruited through convenience sampling. The SEM analysis revealed that consumers’ intentions to buy an energy-efficient induction cooker are primarily driven by their attitudes towards doing so, while perceived control also played a role. In addition, multi-group analysis revealed that paying attention to energy labels moderates relationships in the model. For Chinese consumers who do not, in general, pay attention to energy labels, the intention to buy an energy-efficient induction cooker is weakly related to the antecedents proposed by the TPB, and only the attitude towards doing so is significant. However, for consumers who generally pay attention to energy labels, relationships in the model are strong, with all three TPB antecedents being significant and jointly accounting for substantial variation in purchase intentions. This suggests that clear and sufficient information on energy-efficient products and energy labeling is necessary to convince consumers that it is worthwhile to choose energy-efficient products

ABSTRACTThai debt law has been progressively developed for centuries. In Ayutthaya period, there was a loan prosecutor law that the creditors can claim on the debtor's body. Until Rattanakosin period, King Rama IV canceled this repayment method to apply the imprisonment to the debtors when they were unable to pay the debt instead. Later, the Debt Recovery Act, Ror Sor.110 was issued by applying the bankruptcy method to be enforced for the first time in Thailand. That is, if the debtor is unable to pay the debt, the creditor has the right to request the court to officially confiscate all the debtor's property to distribute to all creditors. In this Act, all compulsory debt repayment methods with the debtor's body and imprisonment have been canceled. To make the law more universal, the Civil and Commercial Code was initialed and influenced by the civil law system from various countries, civil law of Germany, Japan, France, and Switzerland. As a result, the source of debt has been changed from the original. The debt now may come from juristic acts, legal causes, or provisions of the law
The Nonlinearity of Working Capital and Cross-Sectional Stock Returns: Does Financial Constraints Matter?
This study is the first to examine the impacts of working capital (WC) and financial constraints on cross-sectional stock returns in Taiwan. The findings indicate a non-linear relationship between WC and stock returns. Moreover, the nonlinearity between WC and cross-sectional stock returns is robust after controlling for financial constraints, risk, and growth factors, before the Covid-19 pandemic. In contrast, there is no evidence of nonlinearity between WC and stock returns throughout the Covid-19 outbreak. In addition, the study shows that any deviations from the minimum WC level enhance the stock returns cross-sectionally. It is found that a positive Deviation effect exists in the Taiwan stock exchange before the Covid-19 pandemic by employing portfolio sorting methodologies. The return difference of the long buying highest Deviation and short selling lowest Deviation portfolios earn from 0.6% to 0.9% per month after controlling for financial constraints, risks, and growth factors. Interestingly, it is determined that the deviation effect becomes negative for small stocks during the Covid-19 pandemic, implying that investors prefer small stocks to maintain minimum working capital. The results support the trade-off theory and liquidity preference theory. Finally, the study provides insights into working capital management for managers, and investment strategies for investors during the pandemic
