According to a widespread belief in modern studies, in classical Greece the slave revolts would have seen almost exclusively helots and hilotic slaves as protagonists, but not the so-called chattel-slaves, who were too heterogeneous to form a common front against the free people. Yet classical sources convey the idea of a creeping fear about the possibility of a slave revolt and the article intends to examine the apparent contradiction between the expression of such fears and the rarity of slave revolts in classical Greece. It turns out that slaves often took part in internal struggles within the poleis or in wars between poleis by placing themselves alongside one of the parties in conflict, revealing how slave revolts did not take on the contours of spontaneous insurrections against the community of free people, but were instead part of internal conflicts within the latter as an epiphenomenon of such conflicts.
In the year of Archon Achaios, the Athenians voted a decree for a Theophilos of Pergamon, philos of the King Eumenes II. This provision is recorded on a stele along with another decree voted for an A..L- son of Theophilos of Pergamon, whose exact chronology is unknown due to the fracture of the stele.
This paper aims to propose a new dating hypothesis of this document (IG II3 1, 1270), based on an analysis of the text. Considering this chronology, it will be possible to formulate new hypotheses regarding the identity of the two honorees and, with the help of other sources, to propose a new reconstruction of their family tree.
The EU Erasmus+ CONTAN Project: developing curricula for biodiersity monitorin conservation in Tanzania
Maps for knowledge. Mapping food systems in the Global South
The Nexus of Accounting and Dispute Resolution in Islamic Banking and Finance Law
This paper examines the impact of accounting for Islamic finance in dispute resolution within Islamic banking and finance (IBF) law. The global expansion of the IBF industry has heightened the necessity for robust dispute resolution mechanisms capable of addressing complex financial arrangements. These mechanisms must reconcile conventional legal frameworks with Islamic commercial law, requiring interdisciplinary expertise in both finance and jurisprudence. A significant challenge arises from the inadequate integration of accounting practices with Islamic finance dispute resolution. Financial records, essential for validating contractual adherence to Sharia principles, are often misinterpreted or underutilized in legal contexts due to a lack of expertise among judges, lawyers, and accountants in both Islamic finance and its accounting standards. The study adopts a legal approach, employing an analytical design to examine the fundamental principles and processes of dispute resolution in Islamic finance. The legal analysis will involve a comprehensive review of relevant legal sources, including Islamic law, national laws and regulations, court judgments, legal opinions, and industry standards. The study shows that the promotion of legal certainty will require a strong base of legal and Islamic finance professionals and the competence and awareness of accountants, lawyers, and judges to understand the principles of IBF. The study also shows that financial records, statements, and documentation have a significant role in resolving disputes. Accounting records can provide evidence of transactions and terms agreed upon. Properly documented and transparent accounting practices can help clarify the nature of the dispute and contribute to finding a fair and efficient resolution in the context of Islamic financial disputes
Chain of custody management of post-mortem biological samples for toxicological examination: role of the Sector Room Biomedical Laboratory Technician in integrating the procedure in force at Abruzzo 02 local health authority
OBJECTIVE
Post-mortem toxicological analysis is a fundamental element in forensic medicine, essential for determining the involvement of toxic substances in the cause of death.
However, within Abruzzo 02 Local Health Authority (ASL), managing the chain of custody for biological samples collected from corpses remains a critical issue, with heterogeneity in operational practices and a consistent risk of compromising their evidentiary value in judicial proceedings.
This project proposes integrating and subsequently replacing the procedure currently in force in our Local Health Authority with a comprehensive protocol covering all stages (identification, sampling, transport, reception and storage of biological samples in forensic medicine), aimed at ensuring the integrity of the chain of custody through the central role of the Sector Room Technician.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
In line with the guidelines for sampling from living individuals issued by the Scientific Society SIBioC (Italian Society of Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology – Laboratory Medicine), a standardized procedure was developed for the identification, collection, and custody of biological samples taken from corpses for medico-legal toxicological investigations.
From 2024, at the Chieti Morgue, this alternative process of collection and management of possible biological matrices (blood, vitreous humor, urine, and hair formations) obtainable during autopsies was implemented.
RESULTS
Based on autopsies carried out at the Chieti Morgue between 2022 and 2025, it is evident that most toxicological samples were taken by the Sector Room Technician, while a minority were handled (performed or not) by external operators, raising concerns about the quality of the chain of custody.
This led to the implementation of the alternative procedure with the custody chain form only from September 2024, the impact of which has not been quantified yet.
DISCUSSION
The hiring of the Sector Room Biomedical Laboratory Technician (TSLB), by virtue of their expertise in managing the chain of custody for biological samples in cases of cremation and gender-based violence, extends their role to post-mortem toxicological sampling intended for external laboratories.
This extension allows the Sector Room Technician to operate autonomously, supported by the authorization of the Forensic Pathologist, and facilitates a direct communication channel for the implementation of corrective actions.
This uniformity results in greater procedural attention, a reduction in the risk of operator-dependent errors and the prevention of legal disputes by Concerned Party Technical Consultants (CTP).
Nevertheless, concerns remain about the reliability of samples collected by external collaborators.
CONCLUSIONS
Although the procedure imposes a greater operational burden on operators, adopting this procedural approach, where necessary, could significantly enhance the consistency and legal robustness of forensic toxicological assessments

Reconstructing the trajectories of translators from the early 20th century is often an arduous task: the frequent absence of archives that could help shed light on collaboration with publishers and other translators, as well as on translation approaches, does not facilitate the construction of a history of translation based on microhistory, that is, on individual experiences. This study addresses the case of Ada Prospero Gobetti, among the first Italian translators to translate directly from Russian the works of Andreev, Kuprin, Chekhov, and Tolstoy. Her name appeared next to Piero’s on the covers or inside books they translated together, but critics often obscured her name; however, the letters between her and young Piero, along with some materials preserved at the Centro Studi Piero Gobetti, are precious for better understanding the dynamics of collaboration between the two. Specifically, this study addresses the case of the Italian version of Chekhov’s comedy Medved’ (The Bear)
