The Europe in its thousand-year history, in its alternating and almost never painless events, in the attempt toresolve a complexity dictated by the authority of the various leaderships that have succeeded and reconfiguredgradually over time, according to the ability to conquer power or through presumed dynastic rights, representsa good laboratory between what is a succession and overlapping of histories of empires and what is the effectof the growth of an empire often underlying the concept of imperialism. In their evolution as models ofgovernance and territorial planning, empires have presented themselves in human and European history notonly as concentrated formulas of power and might but also as vehicles for the distribution of ideas and values, creating contaminations decisive in the peoples that compose them to the point of causing both their rise andtheir decline, both due to the economic conditions of support or to the internal stability, in terms of consensus,of the imperial authority and its recognized or not legitimacy. Otto of Habsburg-Lorraine (or Otto vonHabsburg-Lothringen), member of the European Parliament in 1979 for the German Christian Social Union(CSU), and reconfirmed until 1999, never put aside the "European" meaning of the supranational Austro-Hungarian empire.

This article engages with Gianni Vattimo’s theoretical elaboration of the voir venir of religion, addressing the question of the fate of religion in the wake of metaphysics. It contends that a pivotal dimension of Vattimo’s thought has often been neglected: his recurrent insistence that he is not speaking of the future (Zukunft) of religion, but of its coming (Ankunft). What remains insufficiently theorized is Vattimo’s conception of temporality, profoundly marked by his reading of Nietzsche, wherein the emphasis shifts from a teleological horizon to an open-ended advent – the future as coming, the voir venir. The article reconstructs this temporal schema and situates it in critical dialogue with Vattimo’s interpretation of Nietzsche’s notion of time, as well as with contemporary articulations of the future-as-coming in thinkers such as Catherine Malabou and Giorgio Agamben
L’attualità dell’estetica di Vattimo
This paper explores the contemporary relevance of Gianni Vattimo’s aesthetic philosophy, particularly its connection between art, truth, and everyday experience. Vattimo, influenced by hermeneutics and “weak thought,” sees aesthetics as central to philosophy, replacing traditional metaphysics in an era of weakened absolutes. Heidegger’s idea of art as an event of truth informs Vattimo’s perspective: art is not merely an object of appreciation but a transformative force that reshapes perception. This aligns with his reading of Nietzsche, in which aesthetic experience is a playful yet critical engagement with reality. Vattimo also reflects on the “twilight of art,” suggesting that art dissolves into everyday aesthetics rather than disappearing. This challenges conventional boundaries, making aesthetic experience part of ordinary life. While mass media risks trivializing art, Vattimo sees this diffusion as a liberating phenomenon. His aesthetics remain relevant for discussions on the role of art in social critique and ethics. By framing aesthetics as an interpretive and transformative practice, Vattimo offers a philosophical perspective that resonates with current debates on art’s function in contemporary society

Par sentiment de cœur. Polisemia di un luogo etico-antropologico pascaliano
The ‘heart’, an object of misunderstanding in a sentimentalist sense, condenses in Pascal’s thought a plurality of meanings that make it, in several respects, an anthropologically pregnant and fundamental ‘place’ for the understanding of his philosophy. The apparent opposition between heart and reason should be overcome in a complementary understanding, in which the former represents the intellectual-intuitive moment of the apprehension of principles that precedes the discursive development of reason and its foundation and condition of practice. In the heart, however, there is also the significance of the biblical-patristic tradition, familiar to Pascal, of the moral and spiritual barycentre of the person and, from there, the common root of the intellectual and volitional powers, where the unity of experience firmly unites the knowing and the loving of being, so that authentic knowledge is revealed as the love of the intended reality and, vice versa, this alone guarantees the cognitive relationship as the experience of truth. In this way, we find in the heart the place and expression of a sentimental dimension that is also profoundly human and harmoniously united to the rationality proper to the thinking nature of man
