In this study, I seek to understand how militant writers emerging from colonial contexts appropriated Surrealism by analyzing their critical interventions published in three journals between the 1930s and 1940s: Légitime Défense, L’Étudiant Noir, and Tropiques. In what ways, and through what processes, did these writers have to deviate from, transform, or inflect a movement so deeply rooted in metropolitan France in order to adapt it to their own poetic and political struggles? During the 1930s and 1940s, these writers and poets faced multiple forms of discrimination, revealing a persistent entanglement between racial and class hierarchies. While the central question for artists in France and elsewhere in Europe at the time revolved around the compatibility between literary modernity and political revolution, Afro-descendant writers were simultaneously compelled to respond to the challenges of identity formation and subjectivation. Within this framework, the objective is thus to understand how the search for a Black identity intersects with Surrealism, and how this intersection contributes to the emergence of a new poetic and political form of writing. In this study, I seek to understand how militant writers emerging from colonial contexts appropriated Surrealism by analyzing their critical interventions published in three journals between the 1930s and 1940s: Légitime Défense, L’Étudiant Noir, and Tropiques.

Furthermore, the program is a catalyst for sustainable development, integrating access to digital and renewable energy, distance education, telemedicine as well as various public utility services. "Africa Work for Africa", within the conceptual framework of the Italian Mattei Plan, also bearing on European Investment Plan EFSD and Global Gateway and is configured as a FLAGSHIP of the Mattei Plan. AWA follows the strategies and political priorities of national governments. Innovation never sleeps

Nature-based solutions as a tool of climate-related risks management in vietnamese vulnerable urban areas. The case of Adb-funded interventions

    No full text
This paper explores the integration of Nature-based Solutions into urban planning for climate change adaptation in Hue, Vietnam, as part of the Asian Development Bank's Secondary Green Cities Development Project. Interventions like urban parks, canal dredging, and improved drainage systems were assessed for their effectiveness in addressing flooding and delivering environmental, social, and economic co-benefits. Collaboration between the University of Trento and Hue University allowed the development of a site-specific methodology, leading to over 500 resident interviews. Findings highlight valuable socio-economic outcomes despite the limited environmental impact due to lack of broader integration and the potential replicability of Nbs worldwide

    No full text
ORA!

The sustainability lag: A cross-regional analysis of techno-dependency and e-waste outcomes in Africa and Asia

    No full text
While digital technologies are expanding rapidly in developing countries, their environmental consequences - particularly electronic waste (e-waste) - remain poorly integrated into digital development discourse. Most existing studies treat digital readiness and environmental sustainability as distinct domains, offering limited empirical evidence on how digital infrastructure impacts waste management, especially across regions with varied governance capacities. This study addresses this gap by analyzing whether higher digital readiness correlates with improved e-waste management in 40 developing countries - 20 from Africa and 20 from Asia. Drawing on cross-national data, the study uses indicators such as the ICT Development Index (IDI), AI Readiness Index, GDP per capita, urbanization rate, and e-waste formally collected and recycled. Descriptive analysis shows that while the average ICT score was 4.12 (on a 10-point scale), only 14.2% of e-waste was formally recycled across the sample, with Africa averaging under 5%. Regression results reveal that in Africa, both IDI (β = 2.49, p < 0.001) and GDP per capita (β = 0.0012, p = 0.011) significantly predicted recycling rates, while in Asia, these relationships were weaker and statistically non-significant. AI Readiness was not a strong predictor in either region. These findings imply that digital infrastructure alone is insufficient for sustainable outcomes and must be paired with effective governance and investment in environmental systems. The study’s novelty lies in its cross-regional, comparative approach, bridging digital development and environmental sustainability. Theoretically, it extends Ecological Modernization Theory by demonstrating that technological capacity must be mediated by policy effectiveness. Empirically, it introduces the concept of a “sustainability lag” to explain why rising digital access does not automatically translate into improved environmental outcomes in the Global South

When knowing how to read an ECG tracing makes a difference: observational study on nursing skills.

INTRODUCTION The nursing profession is gaining increasing importance within both public and private healthcare systems, due to the responsibilities assumed based on the clinical tasks performed. One such task is the interpretation of the electrocardiogram (ECG), which, in addition to its correct execution, can help prevent adverse or even fatal events in at-risk patients.   OBJECTIVE To investigate the level of ECG-related knowledge among nursing professionals.   MATERIALS AND METHODS A cross-sectional observational study was conducted through a social media-based sampling strategy, using an online questionnaire. A total of 308 responses were collected.   RESULTS 98.1% of the sample considers it important to have knowledge in the field of ECG interpretation, but only 15.2% have a master's degree in cardiology or critical and emergency area training and 38.3% of participants have never participated in ECG-related training events. 84% of the questions were answered correctly. The traces that obtained the lowest number of correct answers were those corresponding to pathological Q wave (30.5% correct) and atrial tachycardia (15.3%). The questions with the highest correct answer rate, on the other hand, were respectively the order of the main waves that appear in the ECG (94.2%) and ventricular fibrillation (84.7%).   CONCLUSIONS Although the discipline of cardiology has been part of nursing training since its inception, first in regional schools and now in three-year degree courses, further theoretical and practical study could lead to an improvement in nursing skills regarding the interpretation of the ECG.INTRODUCTION The nursing profession is gaining increasing importance within both public and private healthcare systems, due to the responsibilities assumed based on the clinical tasks performed.
