AGquad: a Matlab package for 1D and 2D anti-Gauss type rules

    No full text
Anti-Gauss formulae have attracted a great deal of interest in recent years. There are two main reasons for this. On the one hand, they make it possible to construct new rules, namely averaged or stratified formulae, which are characterized by a higher accuracy and a lower computational cost, compared to formulae with the same number of nodes. On the other hand, they provide numerical estimates of the error of the Gaussian rule for a fixed number of points. This allows one to determine the number of nodes required to achieve a prescribed accuracy in the integral approximation. In this paper, we provide a Matlab toolbox, including an interactive graphical user interface (GUI), to assist the interested researcher in performing the computation of 1D integrals using anti-Gauss formulae and one of their generalization. When coupled to Gauss rules, they lead to averaged and generalized averaged scheme, respectively. We also consider the computation of 2D integrals by Gauss/anti-Gauss rules

    No full text
Vattimo frequently references Kierkegaard in his writings, but does not deeply engage with his philosophy, particularly on the notion of kenosis, which is crucial for both thinkers. My paper aims to compare their interpretations of kenosis, first analyzing points of divergence, and then exploring areas of convergence. For Vattimo, Kierkegaard’s tragic Christianity, centered on an absolutely transcendent view of kenosis, represents an extreme form of metaphysics and humanism. In contrast, Vattimo reinterprets kenosis as central to his weak thought, linking secularization, nihilism, and interpretation, which allows for the deconstruction of subjectivism and the experience of a radically kenotic subjectivity. However, these opposing perspectives suggest a potential third path: recognizing the ontological and epistemological paradox of Kierkegaard’s kenosis as the core of a “weak” theology, aligning unexpectedly with Vattimo’s postmodern vision. This reinterpretation could use Vattimo’s conceptual tools to reframe Kierkegaard’s theology as “weak” metaphysics, opening space for a new kenotic subjectivity

Voci, motivi, discorso in "Tutti i nostri ieri" di Natalia Ginzburg

    No full text

    No full text
Popoli, now known as Popoli Terme, is a municipality located in Abruzzo that has historically played a strategic role as the “key of the three Abruzzi.” The inland territory of Abruzzo, characterized by high plateaus and a dry climate, has favored the preservation of human remains in the form of natural mummies. One of the most significant discoveries in the region was made in the Holy Trinity Church of Popoli Terme, which was built in 1550 and rebuilt in 1734. During renovations in the 1980s, a crypt containing numerous mummified and skeletonized bodies was found. The bodies are believed to have belonged to members of the local lay brotherhood. In 2001, a technical inspection enabled the recovery and study of a male mummy, used for a documentary by the National Geographic Channel. The radiological and histological analyses revealed significant bioanthropological information: the man had well-preserved internal tissues, wore fine clothing, and carried a St. Philomena medallion dated between 1802 and 1810. Investigations also revealed a kidney stone and signs of dental and traumatic pathologies. This case is one of the few examples of natural mummification in inland Abruzzo, an area with many similar finds that is still largely unstudied. Only one of the region's six major mummified collections has been systematically analyzed, which makes a more structured approach to appreciating and studying this important scientific and cultural heritage urgent.

Regulatory Challenges in Sustainable Markets: Assessing the Impact of Regulation (EU) 1781/2024 on European Competitiveness

    No full text
Regulation (EU) 2024/1781 marks a significant development in the European Union’s commitment to sustainable product governance. This article analyses its impact on market competitiveness, legal coherence, and innovation, with particular attention to small and medium-sized enterprises. The discussion explores the intersection between ecodesign criteria and sector-specific technical standards, highlighting the regulatory complexities that emerge from overlapping legal frameworks. Methodologically, the research adopts a multidisciplinary perspective, combining doctrinal analysis, comparative legal review, and economic policy assessment. Attention is given to the interaction between EU legislation and global supply chains, assessing the capacity of the Regulation to address disparities in regulatory environments. The article identifies areas where implementation gaps and compliance burdens may affect the achievement of sustainability objectives. The paper concludes with policy recommendations focused on differentiated regulatory pathways and adaptive governance structures to promote effective, inclusive, and competitive green transitions within the EU’s internal market

RESHAPING TORT’S NARRATIVE THROUGH NDAs: A COMPARATIVE LAW PERSPECTIVE

    No full text
This article examines the evolving role of non-disclosure agreements(NDAs) in tort settlements through a historical and comparative lens. It traces aperiodization- and a consequent metamorphosis- in the use of NDAs, from tools ofindustrial and commercial secrecy to instruments capable of preventing reputationalharm, reshaping public scrutiny and the communicative function of tort law. A mainconcern of the study is to discuss how different legal cultures, particularly in the U.S.and Europe, reflect divergent philosophies of civil liability. NDAs are very differentfrom one another; today they not only cover “know how”, industrial secrets oremployment relationships, but also extend to the resolution of disputes where on oneside there is the victim and on the other the offender, concerned about saving theirreputation. By focusing on a comparative law (& economics) perspective, the articleargues that NDAs have become key indicators of a broader shift toward privateordering. It calls for a rethinking of freedom of contract in light of growing concernsabout the functions of tort law. If, on one hand, the neoliberal trend emphasizedprivate autonomy and settlement efficiency, nowadays other approaches are moreattentive to transparency and fundamental rights. This article examines the evolving role of non-disclosure agreements(NDAs) in tort settlements through a historical and comparative lens.
