Educational Policies of Women’s Universities at a Crossroads: A Quantitative Analysis of University Brochures
Full text link本研究は、大学パンフレットと基礎データをもとに、現時点における女子大学の全体像の把握と教育方針の多様性を、大学の属性や特性に着目しながら明らかにすることを目的とした。多重対応分析の結果、女子大学の教育方針は育成したい人物像や改革の広がり（包括的／焦点的）とその方針の種類（グローバル・卓越的／ローカル・教養的）という２軸で特徴づけられることが示された。
特に大学の属性や諸特性は２軸と明確な関連がみられた。具体的には、伝統校で大規模、且つ収容率や偏差値も高い安定的な大学では、グローバル人材やリーダーシップ、課題解決力の育成を掲げ、国際化や学部増設等の改革を積極的に行う一方、新設校で小規模、偏差値や収容率も低い不安定的な大学では、より地域に根ざした活動を想定し、教養・知性、感性・品性・人間力等の育成を重視する傾向がみられた。これらの中間的な位置を占める大学では、両方のアプローチのバランスを取ろうとする傾向も確認された。
また教育方針は、１軸でみれば西日本の大学は焦点的、東日本は包括的な傾向が、２軸でみれば関東および北海道・東北でグローバル／卓越的、九州・沖縄および東海でローカル・教養的な傾向が示されるなど、地域的な差異も明らかとなった。
以上の知見は、岐路に立つ女子大学は一枚岩的な存在ではなく、それぞれの特徴や地域性を活かしながら、異なる役割を果たそうとしていることを示している。This study aims to understand the current overall landscape of womenʼs universities and the diversity of their educational policies by analyzing information obtained from university brochures and basic university data, while focusing on the attributes and various characteristics of these institutions. Multiple correspondence analysis revealed that these policies are characterized by two axes: the breadth of educational goals and reforms（comprehensive vs. focused）and the type of educational approach（global/excellence-oriented vs. local/liberal arts-oriented）. Notably, university attributes and characteristics showed clear associations especially with the second axis, which represents the type of educational approach.
Specifically, traditional large-scale universities with stable enrollment rates and high academic rankings emphasized developing global talent, leadership, and problem-solving abilities while actively implementing reforms such as internationalization and department expansion. In contrast, newer small-scale universities with lower enrollment rates and academic rankings focused on locally-oriented activities and emphasized cultivation of cultural refinement, intellect, and human character. Some universities, particularly those of medium scale, maintained a balanced approach between these two orientations.
Furthermore, regional differences were evident along both axes: along the first axis, universities in Western Japan showed a tendency toward focused educational policies while those in Eastern Japan were more comprehensive. Along the second axis, institutions in Kanto and Hokkaido/Tohoku regions tended toward global/excellence-oriented approaches, while those in Kyushu, Okinawa, and Tokai regions showed more local/liberal arts-oriented tendencies.
These findings suggest that womenʼs universities, standing at a crossroads, are not monolithic institutions but rather are pursuing diverse roles by leveraging their distinct characteristics and regional contexts.departmental bulletin pape
Progress and Preparation for the Decision to Accept Transgender Students at Notre Dame Seishin University：An Interview with Key Persons
Full text linkノートルダム清心女子大学（岡山市）は、2023年度より、女子大学としては全国で4番目、私立女大学では宮城学院女子大学に次いで２番目にトランスジェンダー女性の受け入れを始めた。大学においてトランス女性の受け入れ決定に至る経緯とその準備状況について明らかにするため、この取り組みにおいて中心的な役割を果たしてきたキーパーソンらにインタビュー調査を行なった。本報告はそのインタビュー内容をまとめたものである。
カトリック教会を母体とするノートルダム清心女子大学が、トランスジェンダー女性の受け入れを決定し、準備から２年足らずで受け入れを始めることができた背景には、学長の理念と決断、さらにはこれまで大学において育まれてきた、学生一人一人によりそうテーラーメイドな教育を実施し、ケアシステムを十分に担保してきた経験とそれに基づく自信が存在する。日々刻々変わっていく状況の中で完全な準備などなく、今後新たな課題も生じてくると思うが、不断の研鑽を行なっていく他はないとの語りがなされた。Notre Dame Seishin University （Okayama, Japan） became the fourth womenʼs university in Japan and the second private womenʼs university after Miyagi Gakuin Womenʼs University to accept transgender women in 2023. In order to clarify the process leading to the decision to accept transgender women and the state of readiness, we conducted an interview with key persons who have played a central role in this initiative. This report is a summary of this interview.
Notre Dame Seishin University, which is based on the Catholic Church, decided to accept transgender women, and was able to start accepting them in less than two years of preparation because of the philosophy and decision of the university president, as well as the tailor-made education that has been fostered at the university, which is tailored to each student, and a well secured care system. In this ever-changing environment, there is no such thing as perfect preparation, and new challenges will arise in the future, but we have no choice but to continue our constant study and improvement.departmental bulletin pape
Progress Reports on Mukogawa Women’s University Center for The Study of Child Development 2023
Full text link子ども発達科学研究センターは、平成16（2004）年に独立行政法人科学技術振興機構社会技術研究開発センターの「脳科学と社会」研究開発領域・計画型研究開発「日本における子供の認知・行動発達に影響を与える要因の解明」における発達心理学領域の国内大学・研究所の統括機能を果たすために設置された。2024年４月からの、武庫川女子大学内の附置研究所活性化と連動して、武庫川女子大学子ども発達科学研究センターは名称を廃止し、武庫川女子大学教育総合研究所の子ども家庭部門として位置付けられることになった。2023年度は子ども発達科学研究センターとしての最後の活動の年となったが、コホート研究、子どもみんなプロジェクト、Light It Up Blue, MUKOJO!といった中心となる活動は、変わらず実施することができ、成果発表も行った。Center for the Study of Child Development（CSCD） was established in 2004 as part of the “Neuroscience and Society” research and development program under the Research Institute of Science and Technology for Society （RISTEX）, Japan Science and Technology Agency （JST）. Its primary role was to serve as the coordinating body for developmental psychology research conducted by domestic universities and research institutes within the project “Elucidating Factors Influencing Childrenʼs Cognitive and Behavioral Development in Japan.”
In alignment with the revitalization of affiliated research institutes at Mukogawa Womenʼs University starting in April 2024, the CSCD had been integrated into the Institute for Advanced Educational Research and restructured as the “Child and Family Research Division”. Consequently, the name “Center for the Study of Child Development（CSCD）” will be discontinued.
The 2023 academic year marked the final year of activities under the Centerʼs name; however, its core initiatives—such as the Cohort Study, the “Children Minna” Project, and Light It Up Blue, MUKOJO!—were successfully carried out, with research findings presented as usual.departmental bulletin pape
