    Get PDF
The significance of information and communication technologies in the educational sector in the last few decades has tremendously increased. The current study aims to examine the significance of various individual factors such as teachers' self-concept, self-efficacy and ICT-related subjective self in predicting their perceptions of ICT usability leading to enhance preschool children’s learning outcomes. To achieve the study objectives, the authors applied a quantitative research methodology. After surveying 386 preschool teachers in 55 preschools, the data were analyzed using SmartPLS software. Most educational institutions have transformed their traditional modes of education into virtual classrooms. Technological intrusion in the educational sector has increased during COVID-19 and is persistent in the post-COVID era. Similarly, in universities and colleges, the inclusion of digital technologies in preschools has remarkably increased. The current study adds value to the existing body of literature by extending the existing TAM3 to TAM3+ by adding a new domain of subjective self and predicting preschool teachers' ICT usage in the classrooms and the interaction of this usage with technical support to enhance the preschool children’s learning outcomes

    Get PDF
The present study examined the preparations made by 14 mothers to ensure that their children’s education was unhampered during the COVID-19 crisis and ready for face-to-face classes when permitted. The study used a reflexive thematic analysis of the face-to-face interviews with participants belonging to low-income families living in the central Philippines whose children used printed modules as teaching materials provided by the school. The study generated three themes: “realizing the gaps” (realizing that in-person campus-based instruction is better because distant learning is not effective); “filling in the gaps” (taking the lead in teaching the child at home and assisted by family and community members) and “getting back on track” (preparing children for face-to-face classes against the COVID-19). The study showed how Filipino parents particularly mothers kept their children in school despite pandemic-induced uncertainties, economic scarcities and social inequalities. The desire driven by the perceived benefits derived from education brought out the pathways to resourcefulness. This study draws attention to equal opportunities for learning across socio-economic statuses and a more inclusive delivery of instruction during a crisis such as the COVID-19 pandemic

    Get PDF
This paper aims to have a critical evaluation of an online training module among pre-service and in-service teachers in Pakistan. The aim of this study was to provide a thorough examination of the various aspects that contribute to both satisfaction and dissatisfaction with the training module. This evaluation is critical in the process of facilitating the accommodation of the synchronous and asynchronous online models that have established a permanent mark in education years after the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns. A total of thirty educators who registered for the online training module were selected as participants for the study, in which open-ended online questionnaires were employed as the primary method of data collection. This research employed Braun and Clarke's technique, which involves a six-step theme analysis process. The results revealed the mixed feelings of satisfaction and dissatisfaction with adopting training modules. The motivation behind satisfaction stemmed from several factors, including the pertinence of content structure, adaptability, proficient utilization of media, and a determined attitude.  Conversely, dissatisfaction was driven by the inadequacy of the content in addressing issues they thought were pertinent for teachers in the 21st century. The study underlined the crucial role of content design in online instruction, highlighting the need for robust planning to create accessible, engaging, and flexible modules compatible with standard devices like smartphones. The study proposes the ongoing adjustment of online modules to cater to the requirements of learners in the 21st century. This is because online modules have great potential for establishing a permanent position in the training of pre-service and in-service teachers

Optimal design of blade parameters for fracturing tea-picking machine

    Get PDF
The blade is one of the most critical components in the fracturing tea-picking machine, and this study is conducted to optimize the blade's working parameters. In this study, the effects of blade width, blade thickness, and cutting angle on the maximum fracturing force of tea stems were analyzed using the L9 (34) standard orthogonal table, with the maximum fracturing force used as the evaluation index. The results indicate that the main factors affecting the maximum fracturing force (MFF) of tea stems are cutting angle (CA), blade width (BW), and blade thickness (BT) in that order. Furthermore, microscopic observation of the fracture surface revealed that compared with the thickness of the other two blades, the thickness of 0 mm caused the cross-section uneven and had lots of burrs, correspondingly resulting in the section's oxidation and the deterioration of tea leaf quality. Therefore, the optimal combination of design parameters was a cutting angle of 90°, a blade width of 2.0 mm, and a blade thickness of 0.5 mm. The findings of this study can provide reference for blade design to reduce the fracturing force of tea-picking machines, lower the working power consumption, and improve the quality of freshly plucked tea leaves

    Get PDF
The study examined the impact of fundamental factors on the stock prices of Nigeria's listed banking sector companies. Using panel data analysis, the effects of five fundamental variables on share prices of listed banks in Nigeria, which include return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), earnings per share (EPS), dividend per share (DPS), and growth in net interest income (NII), as well as two control variables (firm size and firm age), were analyzed. Data were gathered from eleven sampled banks' annual reports from 2006 to 2020. Based on the Hausman test, fixed effect model was estimated and regression results indicated that the coefficients of ROE, EPS, DPS, NII and SIZE were positive but ROE and SIZE were statistically not significant. On the other hand, the coefficients of ROA and AGE were negative but statistically significant. The study recommended that; regulators should pay attention to earnings management by banks to monitor any attempts to smooth dividend; existing shareholders should pay more attention on high dividend paying banks for capital gain; and boards of directors of banks should strive to maintain adequate dividend payment, specifically by reducing the proportion of yearly retain earnings while minimizing cost

The structural transformation of territories and the climate governance of an urban area: The mediating role of human capital in adaptation processes

    Get PDF
This article forms a crucial part of an economic essay exploring the dynamics of territorial climate governance and its potential impact on the structural transformation of Agadir, a vibrant city. In this context, the role of human capital is also examined while considering the theoretical nuances and empirical analysis tools. The central question drives this study: "to what extent can territorial climate governance contribute to the structural transformation of Agadir, and how does human capital mediate this process?". To tackle this question, we adopted an abductive reasoning approach and aligned our methodology with a post-positivist paradigm. By meticulously aligning theory with observed reality, we formulated a hypothetical model that interconnects the trio of climate governance, structural transformation, and human capital in the context of Agadir. This model was put to the test with data collected from 416 stakeholders involved in the management of territorial affairs in the city. The findings reveal compelling evidence of significant contributions and correlations among the concepts studied. However, our results also highlight the necessity of recognizing and involving new actors to strengthen Agadir's climate governance mechanisms. In conclusion, our research sheds light on the crucial role of territorial climate governance and human capital in driving the structural transformation of Agadir. By providing a novel perspective on this topic, our study underscores the need for inclusive and proactive engagement of various stakeholders to bolster climate governance measures in the city, paving the way for sustainable development and growth
