    Get PDF
This study strives to identify the level of corporate environmental disclosures and their relationship with various corporate attributes using secondary data sources. The data for this study were collected under the dichotomous procedure through content analysis of the annual reports of 190 companies. The statistical results depict that the practice of the Environmental Disclosure Index (EDI) is poor, with the banking sector securing the highest and the IT sector unveils the lowest EDI observed under the study. The regression model implies that company category, company nature, profit after tax, dividend nature, ISO 14001 certification, company age, capital employed, and total revenue are statistically significant. However, net assets value per share and multi-nationality are statistically insignificant. The research will provide valuable guidance to policymakers in formulating appropriate policies for safeguarding society through the protection and reduction of environmental degradation. It will improve the livability of the Earth for future generations. Additionally, it will aid the corporate sector in implementing measures to reduce environmental pollution resulting from their activities. This research investigates the intensity of environmental consciousness among corporations in Bangladesh and reveals the link between corporate attributes and environmental disclosure

    Get PDF
As stated in UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), financial inclusion is one strategy to reduce poverty in one country, including Indonesia. The Indonesian government was facing a problem in experiencing a relatively low financial inclusion index. Many Indonesians are reluctant to have business with the financial institution. Increasing the financial literacy rate among Indonesians was expected to get a higher financial inclusion index. Therefore, the main objective of this research was to analyze the effect of financial literacy with all its dimensions included: knowledge, skill, attitude, and behavior on financial inclusion. The Indonesian government had a serious commitment to accelerating economic growth by supporting the role of SMEs as the backbone of the country’s economic development. In fact, many SMEs had some difficulties in getting access to formal financial institutions to support their business growth. As quantitative research, the study distributed questionnaires to 150 SMEs in culinary businesses located in South Tangerang. All data were statistically analyzed. The data collection was further processed statistically using the Structural Equation Method (SEM). The study showed that all variables of financial literacy, including knowledge, skill, attitude, and behavior had a significant effect on financial inclusion. Knowledge had the highest effect on financial inclusion. Therefore, it was an urgency to educate people and provide necessary information related to the financial products and services

Analysis of the impact of banking sector credit on the real sector

    Get PDF
This study examines the impact of banking sector credit on Nigeria’s real sector based on data from 1986 to 2019 using the ARDL model. The bound testing result indicates that there is a long-run relationship between the variables of interest with real gross domestic product (RGDP) as the dependent variable. The result indicates that commercial bank credit (CBC) has a positive impact on RGDP in the long and short runs, which is consistent with a priori expectations. Domestic private investment (DPI) was found to have a negative and significant relationship with RGDP in the long and short runs. The estimated equations of the specified models show a significant positive relationship between government capital expenditure (GCE) and RGDP. In the short run, a significant increase in DPI, CBC, and GCE will bring about a significant increase in RGDP. The parameter estimates of DPI, CBC and GCE are statistically significant, as indicated by the t-value. The study reveals that effective utilization and distribution of bank credit to the real sector promotes economic growth. Therefore, the study recommends that there should be improved banking sector credit which will improve the output of the real sector and, in turn, boosts the economy

    Get PDF
One of the main issues that created traffic congestion is the illegal parking activities leading to traffic violation and dissatisfaction on how local authorities are managing the on-street parking in Kuala Lumpur. Current study focused on the relationship between motorist behaviour, safety and security, parking place and facilities, parking fee and intention to park legally. This study also examines the effect of enforcement factors being the mediator for motorist behaviour, safety and security and the intention to park legally. The results of the study were derived from 419 licensed motorists through convenience sampling and the response was analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and the Smart Partial Least Square software. This study found that there is a significant relationship between motorist behaviour and intention to park legally. In addition, enforcement factors that mediated between motorist behaviour, safety and security and the intention to park legally were also found to be significant. However, other predictors such as safety and security, parking place and parking fee had shown that there is no direct relationship with the intention to park legally. Future study should consider conducting the study on a larger scale at national level

    Get PDF
This study investigates the prevalence, characteristics, and associated factors of intimate partner violence (IPV) among minority groups of Bangladesh. A mixed methods approach was employed, combining a survey of 128 participants from minority groups with 10 in-depth case studies. The survey collected quantitative data, while case studies provided qualitative insights. The study reveals a pervasive prevalence of IPV within marginalized communities, with 40.6% of females reporting experiences of IPV. Husbands were identified as the primary abusers (91.4%) of IPV. Various determinants were identified as contributing factors to IPV. These include poor mental health, substance abuse, exposure to childhood violence, patriarchal attitudes, financial pressures, conventional drug use, adherence to cultural and societal norms, and limited education regarding healthy relationships, communication, and conflict resolution skills. Surprisingly, the study highlights that IPV is bidirectional, with 33.6% of respondents admitting to physically harming their spouse during violent incidents. Gender inequality or rigidity was not the predominant determinant of IPV among minority communities in northern Bangladesh. The study underscores the necessity of culturally sensitive strategies to address IPV within marginalized communities. The findings underscore the need to address both sides of the IPV dynamic and advocate for holistic interventions that acknowledge and respect cultural norms and values

Multi-faceted identities of teacher assessors: A qualitative study in the Vietnamese educational context

    Get PDF
Within the educational landscape of Vietnam, the professional identity of teachers when acting as assessors remains a comparatively uncharted domain and requires further explorations. Consequently, this qualitative investigation was initiated to delve deeper into the intricate identities Vietnamese teachers adopt in their capacities as assessors. Relying upon frameworks such as Constructivist Grounded Theory and Identity Theory, the study meticulously analyzed self-reported narratives from 15 tertiary lecturers based in Vietnam. Through this rigorous analysis, a spectrum of fifteen distinct identities was uncovered. These identities included “Gatekeepers of Knowledge and Competency”, “Nurturers”, “Diplomatists”, “Auditors”, “Confusian Sages”, “Innovators”, “Social Justice Advocators”, “Cultural Mediators”, “Emotional Anchors”, “Scalfolders”, “Technological Navigators”, “Lifelong Learners”, “Community Builders”, “Ethical Guardians”, and “Democratic Facilitators.” Intriguingly, these identities were not merely seen as additional layers to their professional duties; instead, they emerged as foundational components of teachers’ professional self-image. The forces molding these roles are diverse, encompassing deep-seated cultural values, prevailing educational paradigms, and personal lived experiences of educators. Unraveling these identities offers consequential implications for the broader educational sector. It underscores the imperative to holistically re-envision teacher training programs and assessment design, ensuring they resonate with the multifaceted roles educators play in steering both academic achievements and wider societal outcomes
