A Longitudinal Study of Nursing Staffs’ Shift Schedules during the COVID-19 Pandemic

    No full text
Working conditions among healthcare workers became more demanding during the COVID-19 pandemic, and new types of work hour schedules emerged. The aim of the study was to investigate how working hours in the Swedish healthcare sector were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Payroll data were extracted from one mid-size Swedish region, including 1,130,391 shifts worked by 3392 individuals between December 2018 and September 2023. Paired t-tests were used to compare working hours before and after the onset of COVID-19. There were few changes to the working hours during COVID-19. A new schedule (4 workdays, 2 days off) increased weekend work and decreased the proportion of quick returns and single free days. Exploratory analyses showed that overtime increased. In conclusion, the pandemic had few and weak effects on the ergonomic qualities of work hour schedules. More research is needed to explore whether the findings are representative of other contexts

Skills for Digitalization: Employer Strategies for Competence Management in Manufacturing

    No full text
Digitalization and the transition toward Industry 4.0 in manufacturing involve changing organizational needs for skills and competences, which, in turn, necessitate strategies for digital competence management. Based on qualitative interviews in four manufacturing companies in Norway and Sweden, this study shows how the transition to digitalized production involves several key decisions regarding staffing strategies, job design, and competence development. Moreover, it illustrates how various contextual conditions influence these decisions. Recognizing these strategic choices as partly interdependent, two contrasting paths are presented: the enabling path vs. the pragmatic flexibility path. While institutional factors in Sweden and Norway mainly push toward the enabling path, company-specific factors push instead toward the pragmatic flexibility path

    Grundtvigs stand og rang

    Get PDF

    A unique continuation property for uVu\lvert\overline \partial u\rvert \leq V \lvert u\rvert

    No full text
    Let u ⁣:ΩCnCmu\colon \Omega \subset \mathbb {C}^n \to \mathbb {C}^m, for n2n \geq 2 and m1m \geq 1. Let 1p21 \leq p \leq 2, and 2(2n)^2 -1 \leq q < \infty such that 1p+1p=1\frac {1}{p} + \frac {1}{p'} = 1 and 1p1p=1q\frac {1}{p} - \frac {1}{p'} = \frac {1}{q}. Suppose uVu\lvert \overline \partial u\rvert \leq V \lvert u\rvert , where VLlocq(Ω)V \in L^q_{\textrm {loc}}(\Omega ). Then uu has a unique continuation property in the following sense: if uWloc1,p(Ω)u \in W^{1,p}_{\textrm {loc}}(\Omega ) and for some z0Ωz_0 \in \Omega , uLp(B(z0,r))\lVert u \rVert _{L^{p'}(B(z_0,r))} decays faster than any powers of rr as r0r \to 0, then u0u \equiv 0. The same result holds for q=q=\infty if uu is scalar-valued (m=1m=1

On the Krull dimension of cofinite local cohomology modules

    No full text
Let a\mathfrak {a} be an ideal of a Noetherian ring RR such that the category of a\mathfrak {a}-cofinite modules is an Abelian subcategory of the category of RR-modules. Let MM be a finitely generated RR-module such that the RR-modules Hai(M)H^i_{\mathfrak {a}}(M) are a\mathfrak {a}-cofinite for all integers iN0i\in \mathbb{N}_0. In this paper it is shown that dimHai(M)1\dim H^i_{\mathfrak {a}}(M)\leq 1 for all integers i2i\geq 2
