Revised Bloom\u27s Taxonomy: Providing Structure for Levels of Learning Required in Systems of Equations in Algebra 1
This project was created by a teacher for other teachers. The project provides an in-depth look at how Bloom’s Taxonomy can be used by teachers to support student understanding of systems of equations using the following methods of graphing, substitution, and elimination. The lessons place an emphasis on higher level thinking to promote learning experiences throughout the unit. The lessons are aligned to Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Standards as well. Recommendations for how and when to use each lesson have been provided by the author
Implementing Technology in a Geometry Curriculum

Biogeochemical cycling in restored and unrestored coastal wetlands of Lake Ontario
Wetlands provide many ecosystem services, including carbon burial and nutrient pollution remediation from excessive anthropogenic inputs. In response to loss and degradation of Laurentian Great Lake coastal wetlands, restoration efforts along the southern shore of Lake Ontario in recent years aimed to improve habitat quality and biodiversity. It is currently unclear if these restorations impacted biogeochemical processes of key nutrients such as nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and carbon. To determine if restoration improved nutrient retention from terrestrial inputs and what factors drive dissolved organic matter (DOM) composition, I analyzed water chemistry, watershed land use, and hydrological connectivity of four restored and four unrestored wetlands over the growing season of 2017 under storm and base flows. All wetlands showed nutrient retention abilities with lower N and P concentrations than their tributaries, but unrestored wetlands had significantly higher nutrient loading and reduction. DOM composition was not significantly affected by restoration, but restored wetlands contained higher concentrations of DOM. N was best removed in the spring, and P was best removed in the fall, with some variation across flow condition. DOM concentration was higher during storm flow and DOM character increased in microbial-like components from spring to fall. DOM, N, and P concentrations correlated positively with agricultural land use across wetlands. The control of watershed-scale land use on downstream water quality coupled with unusually wet conditions of 2017 when these wetlands were sampled may explain why small-scale recent habitat restoration did play a more significant role in N, P, and DOM dynamics. Studying biogeochemistry in wetlands under finer spatial and temporal resolutions over longer time periods may contribute information for future restorative efforts and management practices imposed on Great Lakes coastal wetlands to preserve their health and value

Development of an Inventory Management System: Agile Software Development
For this thesis, I created an inventory management system for The College at Brockport’s Kinesiology, Sports Studies and Physical Education department along with a team of three other students. Prior to this, students and faculty would reserve and checkout equipment using pen and paper. In today’s highly technology-based world, though, this seemed like an unreliable and out of date way to track the school’s inventory. With our system in place, the department is able to keep perfect records of what equipment they have, what has been checked out, by whom, and whether something is in stock at any given time or not. They can receive reports on all previous checkouts that have occurred and keep track of any late fees that may be acquired by a student for returning equipment past a given date. Keeping paper records of all this information is difficult and tough to manage, and so there was a need for a system such as what we intend to develop.
For this project, we took an Agile approach. Agile is a commonly used coding methodology that involved meeting with our thesis director, Sandeep Mitra, once a week to discuss the progress we have made and what should be done within the following week. By doing this we ensure that we are always aware of how much progress has been made by each team member as well as what needs to be accomplished and by when. In Agile software development, there are also opportunities to iterate over each stage of the Software Development Life Cycle multiple times. During any coding endeavor, the requirements that are provided by the customer may change several times as they want new features to be added in, or a current feature to be changed. Because we weren’t restricted to going through the SDLC only once, we were able to incorporate these changing requirements into the finished product. Agile has been proven to be one of the best coding methodologies in place for delivering a product that meets customer needs and delivers the product on time.
In this paper, I will be discussing the different coding methodologies that our team considered using, and the pros and cons of each. I will explain our design process to give further insight on how to properly take a coding project from its conception through to its completion. I will also discuss the different frameworks and coding patterns that we used in the development of the application. Finally, I will give some recommendations for future development on our system and show images of the user interfaces we developed to demonstrate the workflow of the system
Issues and Trends in Surrogacy
Specialized education for professionals is becoming of significance and a global issue. The nursing profession is one of the world’s most critical because it mainly deals with the health hygiene. Education in this regard demands that all nurses are able to observe values, ethics, and responsibility towards the patient. There is growing concern about healthcare outcomes. Globally, there is an increasing nursing shortage against the demand for the various nursing services. In the United States, there is expected to be a shortfall of more than 500,000 registered nursed by 2025 (Buerhaus et al., 2008). This shortfall comes against increased enrollment of people who pursue nursing programs. To address this challenge, the increased enrollment in nursing programs will have to be increased by 40% yearly in order to replace the number of nurses who are likely to retire. Against the backdrop of increasing demand for nursing services against the supply of nurses, there is an increasing need to have educational programs that are centered on the delivery of patient care. As such, the nursing profession must collaboratively work to align their education with the primary needs of the patient. The inclusion of surrogacy in the nursing education curriculum is some of the key considerations that have been identified as a necessity to the current generation
