Understanding the philosophy of consumerism has given birth to growth mania and megalomania in people's lives, especially in students. This has implications for two things, namely: the existence of moderate consumption behavior among students or high mass consumptions and wasteful consumption caused by the logical consequences of the development of the consumer movement that cannot catch up with the development of consumer desires and tastes that tend to be excessive and wasteful. Conversely, the desire for greater production in producers is also uncontrollable. Through data analysis that has been done, this study concludes that; 1) Students of the Faculty of Economics and Business UMSU Medan have a relatively high desire to consume, but the students of the Faculty of Economics and Business UMSU Medan can still maintain their achievement index on campus and not a few of them make the campus proud by winning competitions at the provincial, national and international levels. 2) Factors that cause consumptive behavior of students of the Faculty of Economics and Business UMSU Medan come from two factors, namely internal factors and external factors. Internal factors, consisting of; motivation and lifestyle. While external factors consist of; Advertising and self-identification models. 3) Consumptive behavior in students of the Faculty of Economics and Business UMSU Medan can be classified in the group of 'high mass consumptions' because they buy an item with indicators of 'prestige' and 'trend'

MEKANISME PENGISIAN JABATAN ASN DARI ANGGOTA PRAJURIT TNI / POLRI DALAM UU ASN NO 20 TAHUN 2023 DITINJAU DARI MASLAHAH MURSALAH

The enactment of Law Number 20 of 2023 on the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) provides an opportunity for active TNI/POLRI personnel to occupy certain ASN positions, raising concerns regarding bureaucratic neutrality and the merit-based system in national employment. This study aims to analyze the process of filling ASN positions by TNI/POLRI personnel based on the ASN Law of 2023 and evaluate it from the perspective of Maslahah Mursalah in Islamic law.The research method employed is a normative juridical study with a legislative approach. The analysis is conducted qualitatively and descriptively by examining relevant regulations and the principles of Maslahah Mursalah in Islamic law. The findings indicate that this policy has the potential to weaken the merit system, blur the distinction between military institutions and civil bureaucracy, and create opportunities for conflicts of interest and abuse of power. From the perspective of Maslahah Mursalah, this policy can be classified as a primary benefit (maslahat daruriyyat) if it positively impacts bureaucratic stability and national resilience. However, if it leads to injustice in the ASN promotion system and undermines bureaucratic neutrality, it is more likely to result in harm rather than benefit. Keywords: ASN, TNI/POLRI, merit system, Maslahah Mursalah, bureaucratic neutrality

    Get PDF
Stunting remains a significant public health concern in Indonesia, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas where maternal knowledge and employment status intersect with child-rearing practices. This study investigates the relationship between maternal employment, maternal knowledge, and the incidence of stunting among toddlers in the catchment area of the Simpang Empat Primary Healthcare Center, Asahan Regency. A quantitative, cross-sectional design was utilized, with data collected from 57 mothers of children aged 12–59 months via structured questionnaires distributed through Google Forms. Key variables included maternal employment status, maternal knowledge of child growth and nutrition, and child nutritional status measured by height-for-age Z-scores (HAZ), in accordance with the WHO Child Growth Standards (2006). Descriptive analysis revealed that 52.6% of mothers were unemployed, and 54.4% exhibited limited knowledge of early childhood development and nutrition. The prevalence of stunting in the sample was 43.8%. Bivariate analysis using the chi-square test identified statistically significant associations between stunting and both maternal employment status (p = 0.000) and maternal knowledge (p = 0.003). Notably, stunting was more prevalent among children whose mothers had poor nutritional knowledge, regardless of employment status. These findings underscore the dual influence of socioeconomic and cognitive factors on child nutritional outcomes. Maternal employment alone does not mitigate the risk of stunting unless accompanied by sufficient nutritional literacy and caregiving capacity. The study highlights the urgent need for community-based health education initiatives through primary healthcare centers and cadres, supported by flexible and inclusive maternal support programs that address time constraints and knowledge gaps. Strengthening maternal knowledge across socioeconomic strata is critical to achieving Indonesia’s national stunting reduction targets and advancing global child development goals Keywords: Stunting, Maternal Work Status, Maternal Knowledge, Toddler Nutritio

Stunting remains a critical public health concern in Indonesia, contributing toelevated morbidity rates and undermining the quality of human capital. While primary healthcare services  are central to preventive efforts, their direct association with stunting at the national scale remains inadequately explored. This study investigates the relationship between  primary healthcare utilization and stunting incidence among children aged 0–59 months in Indonesia, using data from the 2023 Indonesia Health Survey (SKI). A cross-sectional analytical design was employed, involving 79,141 children after data cleaning.  Nutritional status was measured via the height-for-age (H/A) indicator based on WHO Z-scores. Independent variables included child’s sex, maternal education level, maternal employment status, residential area, availability of primary healthcare facilities, and health insurance ownership. Statistical analysis encompassed univariate, bivariate (chi-square test), and multivariate (binary logistic regression) methods. Significant associations were found for sex,  maternal education, place of residence, and availability of healthcare facilities (p < 0.05), while maternal employment and health insurance showed no significant relationship. Multivariate analysis identified maternal education as the dominant determinant (p = 0.023; Exp(B) = 1.040; 95% CI: 1.006–1.077). Children of mothers with lower educational attainment faceda heightened risk of stunting compared to those whose mothers had higher education. Utilization of primary healthcare services was associated with stunting among children, particularly through maternal education as a key determinant. Findings underscore the importance of strengthening family-based interventions and enhancing maternal health literacy within the framework of primary healthcare to address stunting more effectively Keywords: Stunting, Children, Primary healthcare services, Indonesi

Determinants of Victim Blaming among Students in Sexual Violence Cases: A Case Study at Faletehan University, Indonesia

    Get PDF
Victim-blaming behavior is a key factor contributing to the underreporting of sexual violence cases, including within university settings. This reflects the presence of underlying structural and cultural barriers that require further investigation. This study aims to explore the determinants of victim-blaming attitudes among students in response to sexual violence cases at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Faletehan University, in 2024. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, participants were selected through snowball sampling, and data were collected via in-depth interviews. Thematic analysis was conducted through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation used to enhance the credibility of findings. Ethical approval was granted by the Faletehan University Research Ethics Committee. The study involved 30 informants (8 males and 22 females) across a range of ages. Analysis revealed four primary factors associated with victim-blaming behavior: level of knowledge, socio-cultural values and norms, lecturer support, and peer support. While most students demonstrated adequate knowledge of sexual violence, their attitudes remained influenced by patriarchal norms and societal taboos surrounding sexuality. Lecturers generally provided informational support, whereas peers contributed emotional support. These findings underscore the need to strengthen gender equality education and promote open communication on campus as strategies to combat victim-blaming culture and foster a more supportive environment for survivors Keywords: Victim blaming, Sexual violence, Causal factors of victim blaming, University students, Indonesi

    Get PDF
Stunting remains a critical public health issue affecting the quality of human resources, particularly in Indonesia, where its prevalence remains high across various regions. According to the 2021 Indonesia Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI), the national stunting prevalence was 24.4%, with North Sumatra reporting 30.11% and Binjai City 21.7%, all of which exceed the WHO target of below 20%. These statistics underscore the urgent need for effective prevention strategies, particularly through nutritional interventions at the primary healthcare level. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the stunting prevention program at the Regional Technical Implementation Unit of the Binjai Estate Community Health Center in Binjai City. The program components include nutrition education, regular monitoring of pregnant women and toddlers, and the provision of supplementary feeding. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews with healthcare personnel and field observations conducted in 2023. Findings indicate that although the program is generally well-implemented, several challenges persist. These include low community participation in outreach activities and persistent cultural myths that impede proper understanding of stunting. Nonetheless, there has been a noticeable increase in awareness regarding balanced nutrition among pregnant women and caregivers of toddlers. Monitoring is routinely conducted via the SIMPUS and SIP systems; however, long-term impact evaluation remains insufficient. In conclusion, while the stunting prevention program demonstrates promising outcomes, further improvements are necessary in enhancing community engagement, strengthening communication strategies, and developing a more robust evaluation system. Strengthening human resource capacity, improving inter-sectoral coordination, and expanding public access to accurate nutritional information are recommended to more effectively combat stunting Keywords: Stunting, Program Implementation, Primary Health Care, Nutrition Education,  Monitoring and Evaluatio

For businesses such as Warunk Juragan, this highlights the necessity of customizing digital marketing efforts to resonate with their target audience. Practically, this involves enhancing content authenticity and choosing influencers whose personal brand aligns with the company’s values. Theoretically, the findings affirm the importance of trust, social validation, and credibility in influencing online consumer behavior, offering valuable insights for SMEs aiming to strengthen engagement and boost buying interest through social media. Keywords: Consumer Buying Interest Influencer Marketing, UGC

SMOKE-FREE ZONE POLICIES AND PNEUMONIA INCIDENCE AMONG INFANTS IN INDONESIA (ANALYSIS OF SECONDARY DATA FROM THE 2023 INDONESIA HEALTH SURVEY)

    Get PDF
Indonesia remains one of the ASEAN countries that has not fully implemented a smoke-free zone policy (SFZ). SFZ policies can prevent air pollution that can cause pneumonia. The novelty of this study lies in its analysis of SFZ policies based on the level of regional regulations, namely Regional Regulations and Mayor/Regent Regulations, which are linked to pneumonia cases in infants, utilizing national data with a large sample size to provide empirical evidence as a basis for strengthening SFZ policy implementation in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the relationship between SFZ policies and pneumonia cases in infants in Indonesia. This study used a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of 284,177 respondents, and the study sample consisted of 49,747 respondents. This study used the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey questionnaire as an instrument and used the chi-square test with JASP version 19 software for data analysis. The results of the study indicate that there is a significant relationship between the form of implementation of SFZ policies at the district/city level (p=0.045) and no significant relationship in the implementation of SFZ across provinces in Indonesia (p=0.162; PR=1.159), districts/cities that implemented SFZ (p=0.664; PR=1.059), the duration of SFZ implementation in districts/cities (p=0.269; PR=0.891), fathers' smoking behavior (p=0.867; PR=0.983), and mothers' smoking behavior (p=0.1; PR=1.938). It can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the form of local regulations/mayor/regent regulations on SFZ and the incidence of pneumonia in infants in Indonesia with p=0.045. These findings emphasize the importance of the government's role in strengthening the implementation of SFZ policies through improved monitoring, enforcement, and integrated evaluation.  Policy strengthening can be achieved through regulations accompanied by strict sanctions, data-based monitoring by the Ministry of Health, and continuous education on the dangers of thirdhand smoke for parents.  In addition, the results also indicate that the gender of mothers as primary caregivers plays an important role in protecting infants from exposure to cigarette smoke. Therefore, empowering mothers through improved health literacy and social support is crucial to reducing the risk of pneumonia in toddlers. Districts/cities that do not yet have smoke-free policies are expected to formulate them immediately, while the wider community is expected to actively participate in supporting the implementation of smoke-free policies to protect toddlers from the dangers of smoking

Empowering Digital Consumers: Legal Literacy Education for Preventing Online Fraud in Indonesia

    No full text
The rise of digitalization has significantly influenced consumer behavior in Indonesia, particularly with the growing popularity of online shopping. However, this shift also exposes consumers to a higher risk of fraud, particularly through misleading and deceptive advertising. This community service initiative was designed to address this issue by raising public awareness and educating online consumers about their legal rights and protections under Indonesian law. A qualitative descriptive method was used, supported by a juridical approach and a literature review of consumer protection laws, including the Indonesian Civil Code, Law No. 8/1999 on Consumer Protection, and the ITE Law. In addition to literature analysis, interviews and public perception surveys were conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the educational intervention. The findings reveal a significant gap between legal provisions and public understanding, indicating that many consumers are unaware of their rights in digital transactions, making them vulnerable to fraud and misrepresentation. The community service program successfully bridged this knowledge gap by disseminating practical and accessible legal information to the public. The initiative also advocated for the strengthening of regulatory frameworks and encouraged cooperation between government agencies, businesses, and consumers to build a safer digital market environment. In conclusion, improving legal literacy among consumers and promoting proactive regulation are essential to protecting consumer rights in Indonesia’s rapidly growing e-commerce landscape. This program highlights the role of preventive education as a critical component of consumer protection in the digital age, emphasizing the need for multi-stakeholder collaboration and continuous public engagement
