Primary dysmenorrhea is a menstrual disorder that occurs in women and often has different effects on each individual. Psychologically, the pain it causes can trigger anxiety, preventing the body from having enough time to fall asleep. This study aims to investigate the relationship between anxiety levels and sleep quality in female students with primary dysmenorrhea. The method used is a quantitative approach with a true correlation design. The sample was drawn from a population of 144 female nursing students in the class of 2023 at Muhammadiyah University in Surakarta, with 106 respondents randomly selected. The analysis results show a significant relationship between anxiety levels and sleep quality in female students with primary dysmenorrhea, with a p-value of less than 0.01 and a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.560, indicating a moderate correlation. This means that the higher the anxiety of students with primary dysmenorrhea, the poorer their sleep quality tends to be. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of a holistic approach to treating menstrual pain, focusing not only on pain management but also addressing anxiety. This is expected to improve sleep quality and overall well-being among students and serve as a basis for developing support and prevention programs campus

TRANSFORMING WAQF: From Social Charity to Sustainable Investment through Maqashid al-Shari‘ah in Aceh

    No full text
This study investigates the reorientation of waqf utilization from a traditional charity-based model to a strategic investment framework, analyzed through the lens of maqashid al-shariah. In Lhokseumawe City, Aceh, waqf assets comprise approximately 485,877.42 m² across 296 locations; however, only about 7% are managed productively, indicating a substantial gap in socio-economic impact. The contemporary transformation of waqf practice signifies a paradigm shift from donation-oriented approaches to investment-driven strategies, necessitating a robust theoretical foundation. Adopting a qualitative field research design, the study employed purposive sampling of 15 informants, including nazhir, government officials, and Sharia economic practitioners. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observation. Findings demonstrate that the five pillars of maqashid al-shariah provide a comprehensive evaluative framework for productive waqf management. Three key patterns were identified—substitution (ibdal–istibdal), functional expansion, and asset conversion—each assessed in relation to principles such as hifzh al-din, hifzh al-mal, and hifzh al-nafs. Aligning waqf practices with maqashid principles enables the integration of Islamic spiritual values with community economic empowerment. While Indonesia’s Law No. 41 of 2004 establishes the legal foundation for waqf governance, policy innovations are required to harmonize it with contemporary Islamic financial instruments. The study recommends regulatory reform, nazhir certification, and the adoption of digital governance to enhance transparency and sustainability. It concludes that embedding maqashid al-shariah within the waqf management framework can unlock the full potential of national waqf assets as a catalyst for sustainable economic development, while preserving the core values of Sharia at every stage of asset management

FROM WAHABI PESANTREN TO PROGRESSIVE ISLAM: Socio-Intelectual Legacy of Moeslim Abdurrahman (1948-2012)

    No full text
Moeslim Abdurrahman is one of the well-known Indonesian Islamic intellectuals who introduced the idea of transformative Islam—an approach that seeks to position Islam within the context of defending marginalized groups and promoting equitable social change. Moeslim views Islam not only as a religion but also as a tool for social critique and a means of advocating for marginalized communities. Based on Edward W. Said’s concept of  traveling theory, transformative islamic thought represents the culmination of Moeslim’s intellectual journey, shaped by his Wahhabi educational background and his PhD studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, United States. The idea of transformative Islam has faced various criticisms, with some arguing that it lacks contextual relevance within indonesian Islam. Nevertheless, transformative Islamic thought has firmly established itself within Indonesia’s Islamic discourse. Moreover, Moeslim served as an intellectual mentor for JIMM, which was founded in 2003. His contributions positioned him as one of the key intellectuals striving to revitalize muhammadiyah's intellectualism, which had been experiencing stagnation in the development of Islamic thought. Alongside figures such as Ahmad Syafii Maarif and M. Amin Abdullah, Moeslim played a significant role in this intellectual movement

SOCIOLINGUISTIC CONSTRUCTION OF ISLAMIC ANTI-USURY SLOGANS IN PADANG, INDONESIA: Language, Identity, and Infrastructural Challenges

This study investigates the sociolinguistic framing of anti-usury (riba) slogans in Padang, a Muslim-majority city in Indonesia where enthusiasm for Islamic finance is rising, though practical implementation remains uneven. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the research draws on field observations across 13 neighborhoods, visual documentation, and interviews with 39 purposively selected participants. Anchored in pragmatic politeness theory, symbolic power, and Peircean semiotics, the analysis reveals that the term sharia often substitutes “anti-usury” as a softer, less confrontational expression of ideological stance. This practice reflects a nuanced sociolinguistic strategy of identity signaling. However, a gap persists between symbolic expressions of belief and the limited availability of sharia-based financial infrastructure. Keywords: Anti-usury Slogans, Anti-usury Discourse, Sharia Semantics, Sociolinguistic Behavior, Padang Islamic Identit

CONSUMER PROTECTION AGAINST COUNTERFEIT MOTORCYCLE OIL PRODUCTS FROM THE MAQASID SYARIAH PERSPECTIVE (CASE STUDY OF A WORKSHOP IN MEDAN AREA DISTRICT)

    Get PDF
The circulation of counterfeit oil harms consumers because it reduces the quality of engine performance, increases the risk of vehicle damage, and jeopardizes user safety. The main factors influencing this phenomenon are low consumer awareness, weak supervision, and economic benefits for business actors. This study aims to examine consumer protection against the circulation of counterfeit oil in Medan Area Sub-district workshops from the Maqasid Syariah perspective, identify the factors causing it, and evaluate the effectiveness of consumer protection regulations. The method used is empirical juridical with a qualitative descriptive approach to describe consumer protection against counterfeit oil in practice. The results showed that the circulation of counterfeit oil contradicts the Maqasid Syariah principles, especially Hifz al-Mal (protection of wealth) because it causes financial losses, and Hifz an-Nafs (protection of life) because it increases the risk of accidents. Although consumer protection regulations already exist, supervision is still weak so that the circulation of counterfeit oil remains rampant. Therefore, more optimal law enforcement and increased consumer awareness are needed to be more selective in choosing the motorcycle oil products used

THE OBLIGATION TO USE A HOLDER FOR ONLINE MOTORCYCLE TICKET RIDERS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF SADD ADZ DZARI'AH AND LAW NUMBER 22 OF 2009 CONCERNING TRAFFIC AND ROAD TRANSPORTATION

    Get PDF
The use of mobile phones without holders while driving has become a common habit among online motorcycle taxi drivers. This practice is driven by job demands that require drivers to stay connected to the ride-hailing app, navigation, and customers. However, using a phone without a holder can disrupt concentration, increasing the risk of accidents and endangering both the rider and other road users. The absence of explicit regulations mandating the use of phone holders creates a regulatory gap with potentially harmful consequences. This study aims to analyze the safety risks and impacts of using phones without holders while driving, as well as examine the urgency of enforcing holder usage obligations from the perspective of Sadd adz-Dzari’ah (Blocking the Means to Harm) and its relevance to Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation. The research employs an empirical juridical approach with case study and sociological methods, collecting data through literature reviews and interviews. The findings indicate that using a phone without a holder while driving increases the risk of accidents for online motorcycle taxi drivers due to impaired concentration and vehicle control. From the perspective of Sadd adz-Dzari’ah, although using a phone without a holder is initially permissible (mubah), it leads to harm (mafsadat) and must therefore be prevented. Juridically, this practice also violates Article 106 Paragraph (1) of the Road Traffic and Transportation Law. Hence, the use of phone holders should be mandated as part of road safety standards

Developing Islamic Organizational Communication in the Digital Era: A Systematic Literature Review Approach

    Get PDF
Digital transformation has fundamentally changed the way organizations communicate, including in the context of Islamic value-based organizations. Islamic organizational communication faces the challenge of remaining technologically relevant without losing its ethical and spiritual dimensions. This study aims to synthesize various academic findings on Islamic organizational communication in the digital era using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Data were collected from 1,000 scientific publications in the last five years through the Publish or Perish application , then analyzed using the VOSviewer bibliometric tool to identify thematic patterns, temporal dynamics, and concept density. The findings show that the literature is concentrated on two main poles: structural-managerial aspects and digital da'wah communication. However, there is still fragmentation of studies and the absence of a conceptual model that systematically integrates Islamic values in digital organizational communication. This study uses two main theoretical frameworks: Cultural Approach to Organizations and Systems Theory in Organizational Communication , which together explain how Islamic communication can be seen as a system of values and symbols that are adaptive to environmental changes. The contribution of this research lies in providing a scientific synthesis that not only enriches academic discourse but also becomes a practical basis for the development of contextual, ethical, and sustainable Islamic communication strategies in the digital era. These findings are expected to be a basis for further research and the formulation of organizational communication policies based on Islamic values that are relevant to the challenges of the times
